What Tyre Pressure And Tyres Do You Run
BurlyBox replied to howvard's topic in Beginners Trials Chat
i have about 35 - 40 PSI on a 26" but i've just started and so im not very smooth and ive had a couple of pinch flats so im desperately trying to avoid having to fit punctures but i thnk ive got my pressure alright now. -
it will make the bike heavier and you wont be able to change gear still. it is also more awkward as you have to tie wrap it to the frame and you still have the gear shifter (i think thats what it's called) on the bars that take up roomand add extra weight. it's much easier to get a tensioner as theyre less maintenance and lighter. if youre worried about the cost you can simply just get a tensioner and forget the single speed kit and then set it up. it wont be as light because you have alot more chain rings (i thing thats wha theyre called) than you would with a freewheel but all you do is replace the derailleur with the tensioner.
-
Alot of people including me found that. anyway if you are singlespeeding it then you will not need the derailleur and that is the bit that makes you change gear. it will be replaced with a chain tensioner and it will be screwed on to your hanger which will currently have the derailleur on it and you will set the tensioner up in line with your freewheel. all the tensioner will do is push down on the chain to keep the correct tension.

thanks i've had a quick read but i'l look at it on the weekend and sort it all out.

i have a 1.2 too. if you have just bought the bike check to see if the hanger is bent (thats the bit the derailleur which is the bit in the pic you posted goes on to) as mine was and others who bought the same bike had that problem. also definitely single speed it as you will destroy that derailleur so quick. ive damaged mine a bit but when i have the money il be getting a tensioner. also about the tensioner the one that will be best for the bike is this as you will need to use the 20 tooth to get a decent gear ratio as i prefer to use the 25 tooth but i dont think there are any tensioners that go to that size so the next best one is the 20 tooth.

i was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem on my mountain bike. i noticed a couple of weeks ago that the rear wheel was moving and so i tightened everything up and it help it a little but it still wobbled a bit. its now got worse and ive noticed that the hub is moving on the axle and its probably an obvious problem but hubs have always confused me in knowing what does what and how it works. also i dont wanna have a look and then break something either as it isnt a great bike and i have a habit of breaking things.

yeah i know i do but if i had one assignment in late its a fail for that assignment and if i hand 2 in late then i fail the course and get kicked out of college im pretty sure il be there even if it is only for a little while.
-
i should hopefully depending on the amount of assignments i have as some of the dates have moved around so im not sure on how many i have in next week. anyways i should be there.

i must admit winstanleys dont seem to be too great with their bikes but i did get pedals with the bike and also i did have quick release too. i heard they werent too reliable with deliveries as in posting things and the time it took to recieve their items but it seems they are unreliable in general. also my mech hanger was fairly badly bent but a clamp worked fairly well with me... it was a little awkward though. i guess i was fairly lucky with my buy which makes a change. Also if i was you i would tell winstanleys about it if you havent already and see what they say about it all.
-
yeah it would have been much easier and quicker. im guessing now you have to wait a few days to get it back too.
-
i straightened the dropoff as soon as i tried to pedal and realised Yeah the bikes are definitely worth the money. especially the one 1.2 as it comes with maguras ad high rollers and so thats £120 worth of brakes and the tyres are aparently around £30 each so yeah theyre great for the price. someone ive just been speaking to on another topic was thinking about getting one and i was telling him pretty much the same stuff we're talking about now.
-
it seems that they cant make bikes properly by the sounds of it. the clamp on the stem (i'm not sure of what its called but where the bars are) had a small defect that meant one of the bolts didnt do in straight and when i tightened it up it damaged the thread. i had another problem with the right crank as well and i can't put it all the way on the bb without the bashring clipping the frame. i didnt realise until i had to re-fit the sprocket. :/

In drawings you draw, in paintings you paint. You can't mix and match Anyways to me it looks more of a painting. EDIT: also it is pretty impressive though

Dwarf Shortage is correct as i bought one and the mech hanger was bent pretty badly on my 1.2 that i bought recently. also i noticed that 2 of the teeth on the sprocket were partially missing and so i sent it off to get a new one which wasnt quite as bad but still had the same issue but as it wasnt slipping ive kept it. You're gonna wanna get rid of that derailleur pretty quick as i still have mine and as ive only started its taken a few hits and that has affected it a fair bit so you're going to at least need to buy this Sprug Tensioner and get the large one to get a decent gear ratio.
-
well they come with maguras which are worth £120 for front and back brand new and it is a good bike. it also comes with high roller tyres which are also pretty good and are worth quite a bit so overall youre getting the bike pretty cheap. i think the reason the price is so low is because they are the 2010 model and theyre getting rid of them for the 2011 model but i'm not sure on that. the wheels are not drilled and the only other thing is the hub has hardly any engagement points which kinda sucks but when you single speed it you will most likely be replacing the hub unless you do it the quick and cheap way and so you can get one with more engagement points. also you will need some new pads too pretty quick as the magura black pads have no hold whatsoever and a booster also would be good mainly for the back as the forks doesnt flex much but the frame at the back does quite alot and thats also why you dont get as much grip with the brakes. Hope this helps.

i bought a MAD Phase 1.2 from Winstanleys a month ago and dont regret it at all. only thing is youre gonna neeed some new grips if you want hands left and single speed it or you will destroy your derailleur like im currently doing until i get money for a tensioner. also i'm no pro with bikes but i think my bike is pretty light to and will be even more when i ditch the derailleur. Basically, buy the 1.2. the 1.1 is a waste of money for the small difference in spec.

Eat snickers. Get some nuts.

Someone ate their weetabix.

ahh that sucks. i thought rather than letting something like that happen again i would get a brand new bike but theyre all so expensive. i did find one that was good and had loads of money off it and so i now have a MAD Phase 1.2
-
funnily enough the same happened to me but i bought the bike and went to replace the bb and the idiot i bought it off cross threaded it and didnt tell me when he sold it to me and so i dont have that bike anymore.
-
its 127.5. i had one myself so i know.

btw dont go straight away and get the shimano one, i put it in there as an example, theres most probably better brands that do them that would be stronger than the shimano one.
