  1. So I think thats settled then!! I'm gunna buy the Hope!! I might go with the BB7 at a later date but I'd have to try one first before I set about buying on for myself!! I'm not worried about the price of the Hope 'cos I've been offered one for under £100 so it'll work out more beneficial in the long run I guess!! Thanks very much again!! Joosh
  2. First off, thanks agian for all your replys and suggestions!! I greatly appreciate it!! I think due to the ammount of rep about the Hopes, I think i'll go for that over the BB7!! Simply for the fact that I'd rather not go cable untill I know EXACTLY what im doing with them!! BUUUUUUUUTTT..... Then this came up... What are the Echo brakes like?? I've heard theres some issues with the seals and stuff?? People have found that the seals on the leaver tend to leak fluid everywhere?? And like Mark says, if I can get a Hope for under 100 quid then what would be the benifit of the Echo over the Hope except its newer and lighter?? Thanks very much again for your help!! I owe you guys big time!! Joosh
  3. Hello again guys and gals!! Right.. My head is all over the place atm!! Ive been offered one of these for under 100 quids but then got this suggested to me aswell and apparently its better.. Which one is the better buy and will be the best on my Phase 1.2?? I kinda figured Hope was a pretty decent make when it comes to trials but then people are saying Shimano and Avid BB7s are better!! I'm bloody confused!! Thanks for helping me out peeps!! Joosh
  4. First of all, thanks for all your feed back!! I've been looking arond a bit and i have been offered a Hope Tech Trial for a resonable price, but then there is also good rep about THIS I'm assuming!! Price wise, and looking at the feedback on the Hope, thats probably the one I'd want to buy.. Can anyone else add to the comments about the Shimano SLX over the Hope Tech Trials and please help me weigh up the pros and cons of both!! I'm wanting to steer away fom the BB7 for now simply because my brother is running cable disks on his jumps bike (yes, they're a s**t make) and we've had nothing but trouble from them.. So I'm wanting to go hydraulic for now!! Thanks again for the replys and any suggestions or comments!! Joosh
  5. Yeah cool!! I got your PM pal!! I know somebody who uses a mono on the front of his mod and it is crazy powerfull!! that's kinda what I wanted on my Phase!! I'll get back to your PM tomorrow afternoon when I get back from college cos I'm on my iPod currently and it's a pain to return messages!! Just to say though, I am definatly interested!! Thanks very much people!! Joosh
  6. Thanks for the quick reply!! So somthing like THIS you reckon then?? I know its the special edition one which I assume means the team green one but the normal one is out of stock!! Whats your opinion on the BB7?? Are they a good brake to use on the front?? Cheers Joosh
  7. Hi people!! Another opinion needed!! I'm looking to be going with a front brake setup on my Phase 1.2 and I'm currently shopping round to see what I can pick up cheap, (Any offers for decent secondhand ones will be considered ) and I found this on ChainReactionCycles which seemed quite cheap!! >>linky<< <-- (No picture of it though.. Sorry..) Is it any good for trials and if not what would you recommend?? I have a budget of around 120 quid but as always I could push it higher if needed!! I know Hope does some very good trials oriented brakes but they're a bit much for me atm!! Also, I've been looking at the Avid BB7 aswell but I'd prefer to go hydraulic rather than cable!! Any comments on if they're any good would be appreciated too!! Cheers in advance for any suggestions and secondhand offers!! Joosh
  8. Hey guys Heres another daft question for all you in the know!! Is it possible to run a front freewheel AND a freehub on the rear?? I know its a daft question but it's been rattling around in my head for a few weeks and I can't see why it wouldnt be possible!! It would be a bit daft to do and probably cost a fair bit, but money no object, would it work?? Not saying i'm going to do it just wondering thats all!! Thanks Joosh
  9. Sorry I forgot to put them in in my lack of patience to get it posted!! DURRRRR!! hahaa they're up now!! Joosh
  10. Hey peepsh!! Went into work today at Halfords and there was a bike with a front disk brake setup going to be scrapped.. So I took advantage of it and stripped the front off of it!! Now I have a front disk setup on the front of my bike and it cost me absolutly NOTHING!! Still needs bedding in and a bit of adjustment but it's mint for nowt!! Takes a looksie!! Cheers Joosh
  11. Yeah i'm running a Hopey on my Phase!! it works fine with rim brakes!! I love it!!
  12. Thanks for all the replys!! So do the heatsink yellows work on smooth rims just as good as ground rims?? Just on Tarty, it doesnt say owt about smooth rims.. :/ Also, I'd like a pad that would work just as good in the wet as they do in the dry (I know that'll never happen!!) so I'm considering going for the onza citrus pads suggessted before!! Just on the simple idea that they have those water run out thingys cut into them!! Keep the suggesetions coming!! Joosh
  13. Yeah I did that when I was putting it on.. It looked dodgy then too!! like on bit of the bead was raised up and I think thats where its came off at!! :/ Joosh

    My Wheel

Got a Schwalbe Big Betty of my mate for nowt cos he got some new ones!! He warned me they were a bit iffy to sit on the beads but I never thought it was this bad!! (BTW - this has been left for about 2 hours before I took the picture) Reckon a DH tube will fix it?? Joosh EDIT: Apoligies for the picture being mahoosive!!
  15. Cheers for the quick reply!! Do you know what they are like on a smooth rim?? Just I'm finding it getting my hands on a grinder!! :/ Otherwise I'd have just ground the rim really harshly and bought loads of crappy cheapo standard pads from Halfords and wore the s**t outta them!! Cheers again Joosh
  16. Hey y'all!! Its payday shortly and I want to upgrade my rear pads on my Phase 1.2.. Only thing is, theres so freakin many to choose from!! I'll start with the basics of what I have!! Maggie HS33 (Obviously) Standard mounts Echo 4 bolt booster SMOOTH Alex DX32 rim I was looking at the new BBB Tie Fighters earlier as they were cheap, looked funky and Tarty said they'd be good on a smooth rim but after reading a review just before, I don't think I'll bother!! I just want to know what you guys think are the best for smooth rims that would give good bite and a nice loud noise!! (always wanted my brakes to do that!!) Got a budget of about 20 quid but maybe more if there is a strong reccomendation!! Cheers in advance guys and gals!! Joosh
  17. Cheers for the reply!! Yeah it would help if I stated what I was doing eh!! Mainly I'm learning the basics trails riding!! Like I've said in the past, I'm no pro and can just about do the simple things!! Do you have any links to helmets that might be suitable for what I'm doing?? Joosh
  18. Hey guys, Okay.. So in the very likely event I fall off my bike, I've been told to get somthing to keep my brains in when I fall off!! Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should buy?? I've got a budget of about 20 quid (maybe more if I need too) to get one out of!! I've seen a rather nice full face one at Halfords where I work on offer at £25 but I dunno what would be the best type of helmet, full face of normal!! What do you guys think I should go for?? Cheers Joosh
  19. Thats awesome!! I wanna come live where you ride!! All me and my brother get is "do you like destroying things" and people giving us dodgey looks from their cars!! I had an arguement with that "do you like destroying things" fella the other day cos he thought my RUBBER tyres could destroy a CONCRETE wall... dunno what planet he was from!! Strange blokey he was!! Joosh
  20. Hahaa I've just read this whole thing and woah.. DUUUUDE!! But yeah the bike is very nice!! If you fancy letting me "borrow" it off you..... Nahh I'm not gunna go there acctually!! I'm sorry bud!! You've done nowt wrong to me and to be honest, I don't really care!! I just read the thing for a laugh and beacause I was curious!! You have a nice bike.. That's all that matters to me!! Joosh EDIT: And just outta curiosity, how old is this Matthew62 fella?? Just wondering thats all.. No offense intended in anyway to him (or you if you reply personally) incase it comes back to bite me!!
  21. Hey Just a quicky this time!! I've always wondered why the majority of trials bikes have disks on the front.. I know the fronts dont usually get used as much as the back would but I still can't see why it would need a disk on the front!! Thanks in advance!! Joosh
  22. Thanks for all your support and infomation!! But just 5 minutes before you posted the reply, I managed to get it right!! Somthing called the "biketube" on youtube made it a bit easier for me to understand!! I have no idea what I was doing wrong but so long as I have got it "right" this time, I'm not too worried!! Greatly appreiciate your help!! Joosh
  23. I've tried to follow a few videos online but non have really hepled.. :/ And as far as I'm aware, I'm doing 3 cross like the were before I took them off!! Joosh
  24. I've rang Tartybikes and they said I need 262mm spokes. Now I've measured the spokes that I have and they are near enough (maybe half a mil less than 262mm) and I thought this might have worked.. But when I've come to lace the wheel back up with the Hope Pro 2, the spokes seem a little short and the rim is off center and wonky!! :/ I've followed a few Youtube vidoes to the letter but everytime I do it, it seems to go the same way!! ¬_¬ I'm kinda hopeing not to have buy new spokes but I will if I have to!! Can ANYONE help me out?? I can post some pictures of what I keep getting but I'll have to build it up again!! Thanks guys Joosh
  25. Sweet!! Thanks mate!! I'll give them a ring tomorrow then!! Joosh
