I have a MAD Phase 1.2 with an Alex Rims DX32 and an umnamed hub currently on the bike!! Does anyone know how long I need the spokes to be to make it work with my new hub?? I've tried using the DT Swiss sopke calculator and another on that I found on google but it just confused the hell outta me.. :/ I'm gunna ring Tartybikes tomorrow to see if they can help me out but I thought I best ask on here first in case someone has any ideas or knows how to use the god awful spoke calculators!! Cheers in advance!! Joosh

  4. How long would you reckon it would last for?? Cos I'm not any kinda of pro but I want a 20 inch for cheap!! So long as its in "working" order, it's good by me!! Cheers Joosh

  7. Hey Peeps Looking to upgrade my rear hub on my Phase 1.2 and need some advice!! In time, I will eventually get a Hope Pro 2 but just for the time being, I'm looking to get somthing a bit cheaper!! Are ANY of the superstar ones any good and if so, which one should I go for?? LINKY: http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/index.php?cPath=31&osCsid=1cd8c77a4a037c4961de9e00f4669285 Cheers in advance guys!! Joosh
  8. Neither are stronger, those numbers are the size of the chain!! I found this out when I bought a 3/32 one of eBay and it didnt fit yet my old 1/8 chain did!! Best to do some research into what chain your bike uses before jumping into buying a new one!! Thanks Joosh
  9. Hey Guys!! I understand I'll be making myself out to be a wimp but here goes!! I was messing about outside my house, trying to gap from the curb to the speedbump and I slipped off the pedals and BAM!! My metal pedals smacked into my shin!! So now I have both my shins with scars, bruises and cuts all down them!! I'm getting a bit sick of it cos it hurts like F**K everytime I do it!! I know its all part of learning but I'm getting a bit sick of doing it now!! Soo.. My question is.. What shin protection does everyone reccomend and possably some linkys to where to buy them?? I know Tarty has some tryall ones and winstanlys has some 661 ones for slightly cheaper but I mean I'll let you guys give some suggestions first off!! Thanks guys and FIRE AWAY WITH THE WIMP JOKES BY ALL MEANS!! Joosh
  10. hahaa been there done that Aaron!! for the cranks, just get some green threadlocker and clean the threads inside and out before putting it back in!! I had EXACTLY the same problem on my Phase!! Just a put bit of loctite on the threads and tighten it up BAR tight!! Joosh
  11. Ayee I know mate!! Thats what I was trying to talk to you about tonight on facebook but I got no reply... :/ I wouldnt worry too much about it!! It'll get you away for now just I've had recommendations from my mate on BikeHut in Halfords and he even says half link is bad... Just thought while I've got the money, I'd get a new chain!! Hows yours coming along anyways?? Got the chain the right length now?? Joosh
  12. Hahaa spot on!! I'll buy that tomorrow then!! I mean i've only just learned the basics of pedal kicking up curbs and little things so i'm not putting too much stress on it but I'm scared in case the chain does go again!! It's happened once before when I first got the bike and it wasn't a pleasant experience to say the least!! Cheers bud!! Joosh
  13. Hi Thanks for the reply!! And yeah I posted on here a while back about the half link chain and all I got was bad rep about it.. plus it's making some noises as if it sorta streched a little so its not engaging properly!! :/ Dunno if its related to it but i'm getting shot of it anyways!! Is this the same chain as you have?? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KMC-Z610hx-RUST-FREE-singlespeed-HUB-GEAR-chain-3-32-/190520752005?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item2c5bebf785 Thanks very much!! Joosh
  14. Hey guys!! I'm looking to upgrade my chain after being told that "half link" chains are bad for trials biking.. Any suggestions which would be the best chain to buy?? And maybe some links to websites where I can get one!! Thanks!! Joosh
  15. Ahh righty.. I guess i'll be saving up then!! And the "cheap" ones I found were on eBay!! I'm lucky enough to work at Halfords so I can just use whatever tools I like from the BikeHut!! Plus i get a bit discount but theres hardlys anything good for trials biking!! But yeah DeVal if you are getting the Evo hub, i'll buy the old one off you!! Might not be THIS month but yeah, as soon as you get the new one, give me a shout and i'll have the old one off you!! Do you want my email address?? Thanks Joosh
  16. Hey Looking to upgrade the standard hubs on my Phase 1.2 and I've found some Halo Spin Doctors that are quite cheap (in comparison to Hope Pro 2 hubs) and I'm wondering if they are any good or if they're cheap for a reason?? Also what are they like to ride with?? Are they any good to use for trials riding?? I imagine they'll have more engagment points than my standard hubs!! EDIT: Also I have found a Bontrager Earl hub for quite cheap too.. Is that a recognised brand and is it any good?? Cheers Joosh

    Hubs

Alrighty then.. Just I found some hopefully cheap front and rear hubs but I saw they had the dish mounts on and got a bit worried!! What would be the best alterative if I wanted to use just the maguras but wanted to keep it cheap?? Joosh

    Hubs

Hi I have a MAD Phase 1.2 and I'm wanting to upgrade the hubs on it!! Now I've been told that Hope Pro 2 hubs are pretty good and I've found some front and rear ones that have the disk brake mounts on them. What I want to know is can I use them as standard hubs without having to mount a disc brake on my bike?? I have HS33's on my bike so obviously I'm wanting to keep them!! Would I still work if I used my rim brake rim on the hubs?? Cheers Joosh
  19. Hi Yeah there should be one little ring left over if you've put them in the order I suggested!! That should mean its central and not bend the chain!! You need hurry up and get that tensioner bought so you can get out and rid the damn thing!! hahaa Joosh
  20. Hmm I see what you mean on the 4 bolt one but even so, the 2 bolt one looks like it wil move a little!! I've submitted a question to them asking if it would work, just waiting for the reply!! Cheers Joosh
  21. Hi Quick question!! If I buy this, can I use the booster thingys on my MAD Phase 1.2 insead of buying some other brake booster?? http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/brake_clamps/magura_evo2_brake_adaptor_kit/c74p10934.html Just browsing and saw it and I thought it might work!! What do you think?? Cheers again Joosh
  22. hahaa thanks!! yeah the back wheel hops with my AFRO hair!! all i'm doing there is rolling of the front wheel and hopping it when it goes onto the back!! I cant pedal kick sadly yet but i'm practising!! Its just keeping it on the back wheel without hopping I cant grasp!! But yeah the whole spacers thing, just do pretty much how i've got it and it should line up alright!! BTW, I've accepted you on facebook!! I was like "who on earths this!!" hahaa Cheers Joosh
  23. Looks very nice!! I'm just looking at the spacers on your setup!! It looks like the sprocket is going to be very far inwards towards the hub.. I had the same thing when I did mine!! When you put the chain on, it hits the loop on the tensioner where the cahin goes through!! I'm putting some pictures of how I did mine and its running pretty much central and the rear sprocket sits pretty much perfectly in line with the front sprocket allowing the tensioner to need little or no ajustment to get it to stop hitting the chain. The order the spacers are on mine are (going away from the hub) big, little x 3, sprocket, little, big then the lock ring. This should make the front and rear cogs roll perfectly in line with eachother, therefore putting no bend on the chain!! Let me know if this helps you!! Joosh Outside Inside Always wanted to try this!! Try this link and it should take you to my facebook album!! http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.228879953805341.78566.100000500155511&l=3dcff94659
  24. Hey pal!! First off, lets have a look at them pics of your conversion!! Mines all done now and I love it!! Only downside is I cant really go anywhere far cos if I do, I think i'll die of exhaustion!! EDIT: and yes, the 4jeri tensioner works very well!! And I didnt think I could use a BMX sprocket.. I mean its not obviously for my Phase!! Its for my brothers crappy dirt/jumps bike!! Im wanting to make it as simple as I can for him because the rear gears are a bit dodgy and he wants his to be like my "proper bike" as he calls it!! Thanks anyway bud!! Can't wait to see the pics!! Anymore suggestions/advice is still very welcome!! Thanks Joosh
  25. Hi Just out of curiosity, is it possable to convert a bike with the screw on type cassette to single speed?? Other than just shortening the chain and maybe sticking a tensioner on it!! Which is what im tempted to do!! Could I just use a freewheel single speed sprocket from a BMX in the place of the gear cassette?? Thanks in advance!! Joosh
