I have a silicone one for my nano, I rarely ever take it out of the case. Even though it looks shit with the silicone casing it would just get decked and scratched. I don't like any cases but the silicone ones. They can take a good drop or 2 and the clickwheel is still really accesable. If you'r going to buy a silicone case then most of the ones on ebay are a bag of wank I bought two cheap ones for £2 each and they fit wonky.
