  1. probably 11x24mm ba9s lamps 4.8v 350mA
  2. Where are you? I'm off to St Anton again tommorow. I can hardly control myself I'm so excited!
  3. Given that the compressor motor and the lights are not EX rated either I wouldn't be overly concerned by the fan.
  4. You'll save yourself a hell of a lot of work if you just paint the panel up to the trim. I wouldn't even consider blending it on such a small area.
  5. I would agree with those prices, I had a house connected by SSE last year approx 15m off the existing supply most of it soft ground only across the pavement and about a 2.5m2 of road and that was £3400 + vat. When you think about its daylight robbery.
  6. You don't have to calculate it though, thats up to the distributor and they will be quite happy with 6% volt drop as long as the ZE is permissible. In all honesty I think you might find its cheaper to get a garage which already has power. You really need to get your budget estimate before you buy the garage/site
  7. You need to get either National Grid or SSE or whoever runs you local network ( not who you pay your bill to) to give you a budget estimate, they will figure out if the local grid has capacity to provide for your load. If they decide that your maximum demand is more than they have available on the local transfomer then you will be asked to pay a proportion of the cost for supply and installation of a new transformer probably about (£7000 - £20000). Its pretty unlikely but I have seen it happen. If you ask SSE or National Grid to provide you with a formal quotation they will prevent any other company from connecting to the grid in that area on your behalf forcing you to pay whatever they quote so make sure you get the budget estimate first. You also need to get them to work with whoever you are going to use as your supplier, but all you have to do is ask the supplier to have your meter installed at the same time as your new supply. Oh and do not tell them that you intend to use welding gear. Do the calcs but a 63A single phase domestic supply will be more than adequate if its just a garage. I can't give you a rough price for the connection because they vary dramatically depending on existing supply and location.
  8. I beleive the VNT mechanism vanes open as the vacuum increases with revs. Surely if the pipe you've installed is larger the Vacuum pressure would effectivly drop and the turbo would be over-boosting. Which over time would cause damage to the bearings etc. So you would probably find your car felt slightly more powerful with better MPG especially if you're burning oil too. Does it occasionally just go into limp Mode?
  9. I'm not a boarder so can't help with the first bit. As for deciding where to go the most important thing is the level that you are at, you will enjoy a holiday much more if you feel confident on a decent amount of the runs. I'm just back from St Anton and would highly recommend it, however it's not very novice friendly. There are no green runs and most of the good stuff is off piste. Alp d'huez is supposed to be excellent for beginners
  10. I'm an ROV pilot technician. For the most part it's an interesting job, you see some pretty weird stuff at the bottom of the sea. It can sometimes be pretty boring though, especially in bad weather.
  11. With no credit history at 20 I think you will struggle to get a credit card with a limit of 1500 nevermind 0% for 12 months. You should look for an mr2 which has aftermarket parts but also has the standard ones then you can make it standard until you can afford to insure it. To be honest though while mr2's are nice cars they're not the only thing out there. It would be much more sensible to buy something with lower insurance costs but equally as fun. Mx5?
  12. Loved the letter in the paper Ben, had me in stitches. I also had someone hurling abuse at me for riding those benches a few weeks ago. Apparently I should be in the purpose built skatepark, why don't people get that it's purpose built for skating not trials. And when I try and explain that I'm a cocky inconsiderate vandal. Nice one.
  13. You could keep the name just make sure everything else is different. It's not always a bad thing having a similar name to an already recognised brand especially while your just starting but if your business is online based I don't think there would be any advantage. As far as registering your name get it done asap that way if you are forced to change you won't have invested to heavily in advertising etc. When I started up about a year ago now I went to a few business gateway seminars. The people there were really helpful and the courses are free so might be worth considering giving them a try.
  14. I'm not 100% on this but if you can get under the car you could connect a + jump lead to the alternator to battery cable and a - to the engine/ chassis. If the regulator is built into the alternator it'll work. If not it might work and you should get enough power to unlock the car with the fob. The difficult bit will be getting it connected up. Or see if you can get a lead on the starter solenoid and do the same thing.
  15. Top skills Greg. Can't believe you're quitting just as I'm getting back in the game! I worked at at flat next to those walls in Tilly last year. For a week I was desperate to ride them then some wanker decided to take pot shots at me with an air gun on my way back to my van. That put an end to that plan! Pm me you're number I'll give you a shout when I eventually get my bike up and running again.
  16. That guy does my head in but he's doing almost right. I would rough up then heat the tags for the connections and apply the solder to the tags I'd then re heat the solder and make the connection. Tinning a cable or wire is good practice but if only enamel is used to insulate the core you want to apply as little heat to the cable as possible especially if you're not experienced at soldering. Oh and I'm not sure if he should you in the video but tie a knot in the cable or put a small cable tie around it before you put the cap back on.
  17. In my allbeit fairly limited experience poly bushes made a large difference to my xr2 but that's probably because its a stage car and normal bushes get destroyed after 2 or 3 rally's and the car starts to feel sloppy whereas the polys take a beating better. I also fitted them to my saxo daily a few years and they made absolutely no difference whatsoever. I'm sure it depends alot on the car and what you use it for. On a road car if your bushes need replaced I would say its worth the extra few quid to go for polys.
