I think there were a mixture of things that dragged the competition out at the end. The judging took longer than it should, my accident made me even more incompetent at organising things than normal and, yeah, a one month extension is pretty substantial. That being said, regarding the extension, the weather was pretty terrible last year. People don't really have that excuse this time. You have until the end of September.
  3. I have to admit to skipping through although I stopped at a few bits which I found pretty amusing. Forcing signatures on people was particularly good. I'm glad to see someone doing something different anyway.
  4. Like everything though, it's a matter of practice. This might be the opportunity to get some practice in?
  5. Do you mean you don't own a camera or editing software or you're just unskilled. Because the comp is meant to challenge you develop yourself so it's ideal regardless of what skill level you are at.
  6. Edit: Can't be bothered to complain today actually.
  7. Update regarding new sponsor, entrants and a note to more trialsy riders... http://getcreativetwo.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/entrant-and-sponsor-update_31.html
  8. I have to be honest, I struggled to understand the point you were making in that video. Is there any chance you could explain it for me please? Edit: I mean in the sense of being able to hear and understand what was being said. I can struggle with auditory interpretation at the best of times but the speech wasn't entirely clear and there was an accent.
  9. Already on it. Chatting to a few different girls online, init
  10. She just came to collect her stuff. Told her I felt she was just setting these terms so that I would reject them and finish the relationship for her. Her face and general inability to respond was telling. I feel pretty sketchy now but at least I've just avoided this pointless 'break.'
  11. I can imagine breaks within the context of a marriage, which I assume is pretty intense, but we're only approaching a year now. For me it's most a simple case of whether there's a connection or something seriously amiss that dictates whether a relationship should continue. The thing is she says she does look forward to seeing me and the last time we were together she said she felt happy to see me. Is it fair for me to be left in limbo whilst she works out her feelings only to tell me "that's it" after that time? Perhaps this is just her way of getting out of the relationship and what makes it feel easier for her even if it messes me around. People definitely play games and lie, even to themselves, about their real intentions. I think I'm probably going to do that to be honest! Well it's strange because the relationship is pretty good. It's gone through a difficult period recently in the sense that she's tired from starting new freelance work and doesn't have much energy. It's possible she's viewing our relationship through the lens of tiredness and the stress of being made redundant a month ago. This is what makes it confusing from my perspective. But, yeah, I don't want to get dicked around. I've been there before and feel much more cynical about people in relationships. Thanks for your responses though!
  12. She wants a month away from one another to see if she misses me, can get to grips with her mixed feelings, etc. I don't really understand and it sounds like she doesn't even understand herself. The emotional world of females seems to be infinitely more complex than that of males. It's a pain for both of us.
  13. Girlfriend wants a month off to work out her feelings. Not sure if I'm willing to wait around for that long only to be told "not interested." Actually coping remarkably well which is possibly suggestive although definitely feeling a sense of loss and frustration.

I agree. It depends on how we proceed. I'm still waiting for feedback or debate about whether videos should be released by participants as we move toward the closing date or whether they should be released in one go after the closing date. As we go along: Pros - Keeps everything exciting, motivating, etc. Cons - Disadvantages early entrants although that's their choice. At the end: Pros - Probably more exciting overall at the point of release. Cons - Possibly deadens the comp until the end. We could possibly offset this by staggering information on prizes, etc. and request photos. But yeah, if people can make suggestions arguments for what they want it would be helpful. I want to construct the comp according to what makes you lot happy so feedback is important.
  15. Feedback would be good in the sense of if everything makes sense. I know people find me a bit wordy sometimes but I can struggle to recognise when I'm thinking in terms less appropriate to others. I've tried my best but let me know!
  16. It seems with the sticky that people are more likely miss updates so I've created another thread for, at the very least, for the first post of the new blog. http://getcreativetwo.blogspot.co.uk/

It could change but, as it stands, yes. If you can rally some others to ask for an extension it's more likely to happen.

Upon further thinking I've developed some reservations about this approach. I still like it as an ideal but I'm concerned that it deadens the competition until the release period. One thing that I liked the idea of previously was that as videos were released it meant people pushed themselves more. Earlier releases were later motivators. Any more suggestions/discussion about this matter would be appreciated! This is your competition after all
  19. Woke up on Saturday with deep depression, fatigue, muscle aches and fairly intense pains around my liver. I'm wondering if the liver is causative of all these symptoms given how crucial the liver functioning is to general health. My liver has been fairly abused over the years and particularly since the accident regarding the various drugs I was using for pain management, etc. Liver impairment might be the explanation for my poor immune system and general lethargy in recent months also. Definitely getting a doctor's appointment sorted tomorrow. I really wish I could talk to friends about this stuff in person rather posting on here. I can't tell if it's my incorrect perception that they're not that interested in hearing about problems or that they actually are disinterested. I'm just frustrated with constantly moving back and forth between illness and the appearance of being recovered from my accident. I want to ride my bike without feeling that holding a manual in position is exhausting like it was today.

Sponsorship doesn't always mean much although obviously it depends on who you are within that category. An individual with 'sponsorship' may or may not be receiving parts; they may only be getting discounts. In other words, people in that category aren't necessarily getting lots in the first place which I think is meaningful to talk of prizes for those people. This is a smaller community than, say, BMX where the conversation would definitely be different. Either way, the rationale behind prizes is to generate as much motivation as possible. Ideally it would be good to see people within both categories pushing themselves as much as possible, in part, toward the possibility of a prize. The emphasis is still more toward the novice category - therefore most of the prizes will be allocated there - but personally I want to see an incentive for all people in the sponsored category contained within the competition rather than outside it in the form of sponsors. I just think that, realistically, prizes will be a greater motivator in terms of working within the constraints of the competition. This is my thinking anyway. Sorry that I still haven't sorted anything more to do with the competition. My PC died in the week and I had to fix it this weekend and, yet again, I've been ill. Life can be a bit of a joke sometimes! The ball will get rolling soon though, I promise.
  21. You might want to reconsider coming down tomorrow. It's the Gay Pride Festival which has taken over Castle Park and there's another festival of sorts at Big Lloyds. The town should be rammed.
  22. £40 a day for laboring. Seriously? Following from my employer being a friend of my Uncle I assumed my request at £60 p/d would be met. £40 for 8 hours work is £5 p/h and well below the minimum wage. I usually get £8 p/h for laboring. It's annoying that the job market is so shit as I think I may have to continue working for that rate out of desperation. Argh.
