why would you want a prime lens for shooting gigs? and also UE to be honest. i know it will be better quality and such but you will need to move around a hell of a lot, or end up with the same picture every time. doesn't need to be the fastest of lenses anyway, because canons have great high ISO potential. have a look at some zooms anyway, might be of more use to you.

if you're at 4 then a 5 will probably go in very easily. no need to stretch up with the tapers, save them for if you go to 6
