strange i know but when i do my hope hubs... i use a little bit of 2-stroke oil (any oil will probably do) and a smidge of grease mixed together and i stretch the springs just slightly to give it a bi tmore bight.. after this the hub doesnt need serving for abot 3 months and sounds like a beast forever...when i say service after 3 months i mean just a clean and re lube not back off to hope etc... DAN

if you dont have any cutting fluid use a little bit of washing up liquid or wd40 etc... u get the point and after about every turn or so just take the tap out of the axel to clean away any swarf DAN

u dont need a new front cog u can just use the freewheel and if your sketchy use it as it is but its risky get it welded up good as a fixed cog DAN

have you tried stretching the spring back (sounds to me from what your saying ) a bit longer than what it is to stop the lever flopping about a bit DAN
