I became acutely aware about how much my trials skills were actually lacking- plenty of lines I couldn't do, plenty of general things I couldn't do, So I built this up to sort of restart and learn the skills properly, not just kinda-half learn them so I can say I've done them and just do "cool" stuff instead, even though throughout trials I always envied the people who can seriously move their bike around, not the spinny people.
its been a fair while and the improvements I can physically see is mental. Being brakeless for a long time has definitely helped my overall balance, and every ride I feel improvement. It's great.
The frame is a little old school, but high bb's do not agree with me, it seems.

Anybody else wear glasses when riding? Or would you rather have some blurry vision and not deal with them?
i take mine off. In trials you look down a lot or your head is down and you're looking up, so they're just an inconvenience. I've also had them fly off on me a couple times just my experience though.

what's a normal trials bike? 26"?
Yeah a fairly neutral 26. Feels great, I'm just bad lol

Now that I've moved back onto a normal trials bike, I've finally realised how much of my riding "ability" was being able to bunnyhop up big stuff and spin. My balance is shocking, and that really, REALLY upsets me. I guess that was the point of moving back to a normal bike, to actually improve.

Aaaaaand cue Trialtech high rise rise bar flying off shelves...
quite into the arcade bars feeling myself, but this year I'm going lower longer on most of my bikes for a tester... just with stems though, arcade bar and tt carbon..
They've been flying off shelves for years, best bars ever made! The carbons are a smidge (4mm I believe) lower rise

in general, 175mm is for stock to match the ratio of the gearing and wheel size, whereas mod are 165mm for the same reason, just a smaller wheel and thus smaller cranks. 170/175mm cranks on a standard setup mod (18:12 gearing) will feel "light" and some prefer that feeling of a bit more leverage. but you wont be going any faster. haha

If it "seems to work" it's not working. Resin is infinitely better than tar, the brake should feel like a fresh grind just with waaaay more bite and hold and none of the rough "texture" of tar. It will remain that way even with a soaking wet rim.
Melt the resin into a jar cap, dip a rag generously in nitro thinner and rub it into the resin, then onto rotating wheel. Seems like a kerfuffle but it's worth it. Lasts a few hours, only takes a few minutes to reapply.
You might also want to start off with a clean rim so get it wet, drag the brake, wash off and repeat a few times until no dirt is accumulating on the surface. Apply the resin to a dry rim.
Dip the cloth in it while its still melted? Because it hardens almost instantly unless it's constantly heated

I've just been rubbing it on dry, it scrapes and cracks but seems to work- when i heated it it didn't stay melted long enough to be applied properly, but I'm aware i may be doing something wrong. Like i said, it seems to work but it feels like I'm doing it wrong. Cheers
Gear ratios

So I bought a Hex to be my brakeless bike, the ratio I've always run is 18:15 on stock and 18:12 on mod. Can anyone shed some light on using any of the different ones? I'm not asking what they do, obviously 18:14 is harder but faster, what's your experience with them in terms of the moves like sidehops, static gaps and the trade off of speed and power?
also, @Ali C, what ratio are you running in your 2010 brakeless hex video? Cheers.
