  1. How long did it take to get used to brakeless? as in before it stopped feeling strange??

I would probably say around a few weeks. At first it is very weird as I'm sure Mark will remember my first ride at Blackpool :P You also tend to overshoot everything haha.

Once you've got your head around it, it's just a case of applying what skill you already have but without brakes. Certain moves need tweaking for them to work without brakes. I think it also improves your commitment to pulling lines and reacting to what the bikes doing. With brakes you can generally stop for a second or two and think what you need to do, but without brakes you don't get that, and that's one of things I like most about brakeless riding.

Again, thanks for the comments everyone, they are very much appreciated!

  2. Haha, thanks :)

Stan's still riding his Orange Sky - the ratio sorta depends on where we ride, whether he's filming for anything in particular, if he's got a flat on the other bike which is therefore going to take him a month to fix (:P), etc. The past few weeks have been pretty much just on the 24 though, we've been riding loads and going to quite a few different places to get some clips done.

    Only 3 days...

But yeah I'm still riding the 26" mainly on natural though.

    Thanks for comments so far.

Can't wait to start filming the next one, if it's as much fun as this one was.

  3. So after searching around, it seems there is one major difference between the RK and DK:

    RK- steel bead

    DK- folding kevlar bead.

at least according to the Tartybikes description. So how different does this make the tyres feel to ride on? Unless , is it possible to get both in either steel or kevlar bead?

They both have the same carcass and bead actually. The description on our site is incorrect so I'll get that changed.

The only difference is the tread pattern.

Aslong as you get one of them, you'll win. They own every other rear tyre out there :)

  4. Out of intrest what would you say is the second best BB?

Can the TrialTech BB fit the coloured echo crank bolts?

Not sure why you would want a "2nd best" BB, but I'd probably say the Try-all or Echo TR, however they aren't really a patch on the new Trialtech one.

The Echo SL crank bolts work a treat with the Lite BB :) Makes for a sweet setup!

  5. Mark has been keeping tabs on these as they were posted and they are all extremely good videos. The French deserved the win, the edit and riding was amazing.

  6. Nice riding! Stan, how long have you been using TNN new pads? because it looks as they wear out fast!

Quite a while now, but one thing to note is that I actually pre-angle the corners of my pads to help them bed in quicker and I think it makes them slightly more bitey.

So although the corners appear worn out, there is actually a lot of material left on the pad as the corners were already cut down :)

    Awesome pads though.

  7. Got to love all your creativity at riding. Especially Stan's technical skills and Ali's still technical but streety kind of way. It would be nice to watch that Stan's bail though! What happened to him? I can see he might have snapped a half link or just chain stretch as he's riding with the spoke tensioner, what is wrong with those brake mounts, why are they not in the right place? Assuming his bike running 18:15 ratio.

    Glad you like the video.

With my bail, my driveside axle bolt washer snapped, meaning my wheel instantly jumped forward which made my chain skip and bang I went over the bars, slamming my shin into the rock, basically ended my ride.

My brake mounts are fine, my wheel is quite far back in the dropout so I can fit the Kasier in.

  8. Further down the beach towards Liverpool (near the windmills) there are much more/better rocks than outside the lifeboat station. Just incase you don't know they're there.

I might be busy this week but I only live 6 miles away from there so I'll see if I can get out one evening.

Are they the rocks we've rode in the past?

They are decent them ones. If you let us know a night, I might pop down. Not rode there for a while.
