  1. You don't seem to get what I'm saying... speed cameras will slow someone down, but in a very unsafe way... and only at the point of the camera... if someone wants to speed, they will find a way and a place to speed. I totally disagree with excessive speeding, but when it comes to a difference of 5mph, which in my car is around about a second in time of acceleration, especially down a hill, the last thing you want to be thinking about is stopping yourself going 1mph over 30. And before you say it, people do get fined for going 31mph. What I'm getting at is that most of the people who get hit walk out, and so if you were going 20 or 50 you would still hit them. The focus needs to be more on stopping pedestrians thinking theyre bulletproof and getting them to use dedicated crossings. As for being hit, I would rather be killed than put in a wheelchair... When you start driving you will realise how dangerous and how much of a distration speed cameras are...
  2. 90% of vehicle related injuries are due to people walking/running out into roads without looking, and from somewhere the driver cant see. I havent even been driving a year, but every, and I mean EVERY school day at least three groups of kids walk or run out with no prior warning in front of the car. Now, whether your going 30 or 40, if some kid runs out directly in front of your car, they are gonna die. No thinking time, no braking time, nothing. Now lets add a speed camera. Very sensetive buggers, they are, so you have to make sure you dont top 30, which on a hill, where most speed cameras are, is very awkward. Your eyes stray down to the speedo every other second to make sure, which means, for 50% of the time on the approach and throught the speed camera, your arent even looking at the road. So then one of these kids runs out. You arent looking at the road, but your looking at the speedo. No reaction times, no braking. Thud. Dead. Do you even drive!?
  3. APPARANTLY... (According to Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond) its is completely legal to put a box on top of a speed camera. Someone did it to a speed camera near me, which also ended up being smashed up as well... shame Even when the vehicle has blue flashing lights and a dieing person in the back?

  5. You could drill a hole from the opposite side of the hole to the side the pedal is on big enough to firmly fit a steel nut that has the right thread for the pedal and araldite that in... you could even file the nut till it is round and fits more snugly in the hole...
  6. This thread is full of so much crap! Koxx currently make 12 different frames... Deng's companies make 9... Now, my superior brain capabilites lead my to believe that 12>9, so with this piece of evidence I would go as far as saying that someone who is sponsered by Koxx IS biased because they are making critisms of other companies that in real life it is there company that is guilty of it. But Koxx sell them for twice as much, if not more! And don't give me any R&D crap, every company does there fair share of that... for example, the Czar may ook like an XTP but being cnc'd it requires completely different design and production methods, making it very different to the XTP. I could blab on all day, but I've got work to do.

  8. Sorry to be perdantic, but it was a 100 gallon tank that it emptied in two minutes, giving it a lowly 1.9mpg... Whats even more incredible is the ttorque the thing makes. Its just an ants toenail below 1000lb/ft!!! To give you an example of how much force this is, here are some other facts about torque and cars: The BMW 535 deisel had to be fitted with an auto 'box because they do not make a manual 'box strong enough to deal with the torque it produces. Which is 400lb/ft. The Lambourghini Murcialago produces around 500lb/ft of torque, half that of the Veyron. The Lambo will eat clutches and gearboxes if you try to drive it sensibly around town because of the amount of torque it produces. This means that the engineering gone into making a car that is as easy to drive as a VW Polo that has twice as much torque as a Lambo Murcialago, that will last you gone ten years has to be absolutely incredible. And to the eco friendly mud hut save the rainforest dude - creating a car like this devises ways of making more efficient parts and processes that allow better materials to be made more quickly and cheaply. Which can and is passed on throughout the manufacturing world, so poor people in Africa can have more hospitals and schools and stuff. If you want to rib a company for spending money on research, point your finger at NASA. But again, they research that goes on is invaluable to the future markets of the world.
  9. What I thought was pretty sexual for such a hypercar was the fact that Jeremy could drive it straight off of the Eurostar without having to slow down for any mega low bits of bodywork, showing that VW have managed to make an amazingly quick car actually usable as well. Theres some pretty good wallpaper sized pics of the Bugatti on www.seriouswheels.com too. Did anyone else cringe when Jeremy dripped petrol around the filler cap TWICE!?!?!?!?
  10. Any suggestions on a decent component cable to use? Im currently using a cheapy one, and the quality is worse than the 3 metre S-Video cable I was using before!
  11. Morning y'all, Just been pondering over the pros and cons of component and S-video cables... this is for hooking up a DVD player to a cinema projector... Any suggestions as to which form of connection is best? Any why? And which particular cable is best to use? Cheers fellas! :P
  12. When I lived in Lewisham, where the majority of the community is black, they called each other like there was no tomorrow.. they even called me nigger! I said it once, in the same light hearted friendly manner to my friend who called me it and he got really cross with me... wierd, no? And the moral of the story is: People will do anything for attention/money and nobody knows who they are anymore. Solution: Bleach everyone's skin so noone can complain anymore...
  13. The human kickstand option was soon after recalled from all Kawasaki motorbikes.
  14. I can understand if you said, "You are an idiot because you are a nigger/brit/welsh/whatver," because that combines the name with a negative opinion, but just the word on its own is nothing to take offense over. Black people call each other nigger so it can't be that bad a word. And the reason Indians don't like being called Paki is most hypocritical. They don't like it because they have a lot of racial hatred for their Pakistani neighbours, and want nothing to do with them. And again, if someone called you Welsh, you wouldnt be offended because you hate the Welsh, because that would be rascist. People get offended over words that they dont even know the meaning of, or find something rascist that they dont even understand. Its a blackmail, power issue with the majority of cases, with the minority being very obvious racsism. When a black person calls me honky, I dont have a clue what I means, I know its a term used by black people for white people, but I dont know its exact definition... so I dont get offended. In fact I think it sounds quite funny. So why are some people so sensitive and jumpy about everything and turn into into rascism? And lastly... since when has black been a race??? British, American African, these are races... there is no such as Blackland so critisism towards skin colour is not a rascism. Its wrong, but not rascism. A black British person calling a white british person racist doesnt work... same race right?
  15. You seriously think people don't use Brit as a derrogatory term? I think you need to go spend a few weeks in Lewisham, you'll have a different opinion by the end of it... And would you be offended if someone thought you were Welsh when you were English? And because I personally am Welsh, do I rise up in arms citing racial hatred every time someone makes the timeless joke about sheep bumming? No. EDIT: I like the Czar :)
  16. Interesting fact: Nigger is in fact short for Nigerian, as Paki is short for Pakistani and Brit is short for British. Only one of those three races does not whinge about the shortened name. Can you guess which?
  17. Floating bike... 6/10 for effort and sticking to the theme of the forum
  18. The thing is, its not like the labels "black" and "white are just terms used by white people... black people also use these terms because they work... MOBO does not stand for, "Music of Brown Origin" does it? The term "black" in relation to people with dark skin was, as far as I'm aware, first used by the spanish. Thyre word for black is "negro". Now the spanish word for black is a very racsist word. And it's not like the spanish are all that pale either, yet they are still white people... but they don't have a problem with that term, and neither should black people have a problem with the term black, as long as negativity is twined with the terms, i.e: hes an idiot BECAUSE he is black... It's all a fuss made by a minority, to be honest from what experience, most black people couldn't give two hoots about being labelled as black, just as I and many others don't care about being called white. As for the connotations of black an white, it's not done as something purposeful to upset black people, black is (for obvious reasons) associated ith the dark, night time, where you are unaware of your immeadiate surroundings, which invokes fear... and fear is associated with evil... The same goes for white, white is light, happiness, peace and security... How many people here are afraid of the dark.... how many of those people are afraid of black people for the same reasons they are afraid of the dark? Yeah.
  19. Er... Is it me, or is most mainstream music of black origin? Hip-hop, rap, R&B... to be black in Britain is not a bad thing in this country, but is in fact regarded as cool. In every school ive been to, (all five of them) the people regarded as the coolest are black, who also hang around with asians who "act black". So being black is not a bad thing. When I lived in Lewisham, my best mate shocked me by telling me how much black people hate each other... there are lots of shades of brown around the world, and each shade hates each other. The whole thing is messed up by rumour and slander, as well as poor government morals. And to be honest, its never gonna change because blacks, asians and whites hate each other all the same.
  20. I run them. Never had any problems with them, but I am quite a light rider. No flex that I can feel, well made, look good... but expensive.
  21. Thats rediculous. I'd like to see his electricity bill for December... :P
  22. Did he fall off the second time he attempted the loop? Maybe its part of the act? The guy on the trials bike missed the roof rack at on point and nearly slipped off the car... it was brilliant! T'was a good show (Y)
  23. Did you go to the 12:00 Friday show at Earl's Court? When the mountain boarder fell over on the landing? It was definately the highlight of the show ;)
