  1. This is why people have to be validated. The moderators need to make sure new member's are not going to just cause issues for other member's. I responded to your topic offering you advice. I also made suggestions for your future posts. There's no need to get agressive about it, otherwise knowone will help you out. People use the forum, to get other people's advice, points of view, suggestions. They then either take it or ignor it, they don't throw it back in their face. Simple, if you want help with anything use the forum, as everyone on here is willing to help anyone else as much as they can. If you don't want help, then go elsewhere. Were all friends here, so don't get agressive, all were doing is making simple suggestions to help you get better results with your futur posts, as well as this one.
  2. Don't take it to a bike shop to get serviced. Just send it back to Hope with a letter explaining the problem with brake. They'll sort it all out, and send it back to you, and more than likely it'll just cost you postage. I know loads of people that have sent Hope parts back to Hope to be fixed, and have not been charged for it. Oh, and please write your posts with the correct spelling, grammar and punctuation, as you'll find people will not bother to respond to your posts otherwise. After all, you had to do it to get validated.
  3. Hi Mark, the Virgin train will only take 4 bikes, so you will need to take them apart, they will also need to be booked on. As for the NXEC, they have a compartment for the bikes at one end of the train, I'm not sure how many bikes they take, but you could easily get what you have on there. Again need to book all of the bikes on, as they wont let your bike on without it. With both trains, there isn't much if any space in the carriages for bikes as luggage, so will need to be put in the bike area. On both trains the bike compartment is at one end of the train. Help this has helped.
  4. I'm sure you could have waited Dave Looks like it came out really well. It certainly makes Pompey sounds amazing, doubt the council would find it being positive though, lol. Never mind.
  5. My gf had a Citroen AX 0.995 litre last year and was paying about £300 3rd party F/T with 2 yrs no claims. This yr its a Renault 19 1.4i 3rd party F/T with 3 yrs no claims, + me with provisional (price stays the same when I get full licence) = £386 That's with Swinton both times. For the Renault everyone was quoting her alone £480 ish for some reason me being added on to her insurance has helped bring it down, more than if she was on her own. Originally we did search on go compare and my motor quote kept coming up cheapest, but in the end Swinton came up top.
  6. This is to all those who attended the photo shoot with myself in Pompey a while ago. I've just had a text from Steve Bardens (guy taking all the pictures), that there is going to be a 7 page feature of the day. It will be in the next issue of MBUK, issue no 226. Not the current one with the 20th anniversary, the next one. A qoute from Steve about the feature "Dave Marshall may wet himself"
  7. When I ran a mech I did it completely different and it worked a treat. Take a look at the back of the bolt that attachs the mech to the frame. You'll see a C-clip. Remove the C-clip and you'll see a spring. Remove the spring. Now you'll need a washer to pack the bolt out. This is so that when you bolt the mech to the frame, the bolt clamps the mech to it tightly, so there is no movement. As for the chain alignment. You may be able to use the stop screws to line the mech up with your chain line, if not then just use either a spoke or a cable to line the mech up. If you make your chain quite short then it maybe more responsive but doesn't make to much difference. Job done.
  8. I remeber seeing you at the challange in the morning and again at a tube station (Charing Cross I think). You would have been more than welcome to have joined us. We did have a good day. The thing with most rides, is that the majority of the day is split up between riding trials, riding between spots and having a laugh (talking about random things). It doesn't matter what you ability is, I love riding with people with different abilities. I find it more fun than everyone being at the same ability. It mixes it up alot. Don't be afraid next time buddy.
  9. I'l bring it along. You got a bleed kit? Can bring mine if not. Any where know anywhere cheap to park in leicester?
  10. Looking very nice Adam, how's it ride?
  11. Is it the lever or the whole body he needs. I take it he has the current maggie lever style, not the old one. I know I have a complete old style hs 33, lever and body, not sure bout the newer one.
  12. That sucks. Can you not just give Dan a good sweet talk, lol and your gf, just promised to take her out for a romantic night or something. To make up for you going riding in the day.
  13. We'll see, would be cool. I love riding new places. Just gotta sweet talk the gf, as she drives, not me, lol.
  14. How good is Leicester, as I'm debating about making the 3 hour drive from Bournemouth. Does anyone know if Bigman is actually going. Also what about Wayne and Shaun, I only know a few of the guys from the brum area, would good to see you all again.
  15. I just came across these sites on obsreved trial. It's basically a huge mountain bike even in Whistler Canada. The have a trials comp there too. I'd love to go for a few days, maybe a week. Just wandering if anyone else would be interested in coming. The comp is 15th Aug-16th aug. But would be good to gor for longer, go ride other places with the locals, and have a bit of a holiday. As it's in August there's plenty of time to save. Have a look at the site's below, see what you think. Would be a great experience. http://www.crankworx.com/whistler/home.php http://www.baiabros.com/trialsworx/index.html#kids_comp
  16. Was very swish Dan, very swish
  17. I swapped from stock to mod and back and then back to mod and I'm now currently back on stock. I originally changed to mod, as I was bored of stock and enjoyed riding my mates mod's. I'm sticking to stock as I have found that I can do alot more on a stock than a mod. It's entirely upto you if you change or not, as it's yourself that will be riding the bike. So make sure it's something you definately want to do. If you can, have ago on a few other people's stock's, you'll be able to get a feel for the different geometry compared to the mod, and if you decide to go to stock, it will give you an idea of what you want. If you try other people's then your not going in blind (so to speak).
  18. There are plenty of frames out there that don't require a booster, and so your crossover is showing. I may be wrong, but I've always believed that the booster prevented the flex of the frame between the two stays, this would then allow the brake to bite better and not slip. I can't see how the booster being above or below the cylinder would affect the braking.
  19. You clearly haven't seen other rider's video's. That may have just been a bunch of clips put together, but it was so repetitive and boring. Fair play if you have recently improved and thats your current ability, but does watching that really inspire you to go out an ride? What has he got that other's don't that makes him more worthy of getting a sponsorship deal? He's got skill and ability, but so has over half the trials population in the uk alone. Anyway, vid shows some good skill, confidence and ability, if what's in the video isn't all you do then I look forward to seeing your next vid. this aint a dig at Mike, but people should really think before writing such daft comments.
  20. I got a family thing on the sunday in Reading, so was thinking of riding on the saturday. Just seeing if anyone fancies joining me.
  21. Well done Sam for your persistance and commitment to make this happen. Big thanks to Abingdon United for allowing us to use the ground again, just this time everyone needs to be on there BEST behaviour. For DJ and his family Just realised I'm not gonna be able to make it this year, as I doing a demo. Sorry Sam, Hope the day is succesful.
  22. I take off at a angle, in some cases i'm sideways to the object. If there is a corner I go at an angle to that so my front wheel is sort of in front of the wall then.
