  1. The chain was shortened to fit by TartyBikes before the bike being sent to me, that's the issue. I'm going to order a couple of new chains just to be sure and shorten them myself and keep the spare links! Shin pads are on order too! Rich
  2. I removed the chain to give it a good clean after some riding at Rhyl seafront on Monday. The chain still had a lot of manufacturers grease on it and the sand seemed to absolutely love it! Bit of a predicament now as it turns out the quick link isn't a reusable one . Reading on TartyBikes they recommend not even using the quick link but attach the chain as you would normally by using a chain tool. That's fine and easy enough to do but unfortunately the chain was set to the right length which included the quick link. Is it feasible to remove remove the quick link making the chain one link shorter or buy a new chain? Rich
  3. The Hebo Size Chart is terrible to be honest, why don't they do a circumference measurement? Can I ask which part of your calf you measured to get the 38cm as the Jutsie size chart measures below the knee and above the ankle. Rich
  4. Saw them, look really good but a bit put off how 2 sizes can cover from Small to XL. Without trying them first in a shop it's a bit of a gamble buying online only to find out they don't fit very well. Rich
  5. That's more like what I'm after. Thank you. Rich
  6. The reviews said they're very tight fitting, the padding on the front sticks out far too much and they're very hot. I generally use Sixsixone armour for DH and Enduro but want a slim fitting shin protector for trials. Rich
  7. Any recommendation on some shin guards please. I was recommended the SixSixOne shin guards but after reading some reviews I have been put off. Something nice and slim would be nice and true to size. Rich

    Pedals

No multitools for me, only use t style Allen Keys and all hung up in the garage in size order! Yes the last time they came loose I nipped them up by hand and rode around a bit to torque them up and that worked. Hopefully they will settle down a bit after a few more days like you mentioned. Might be worth carrying a small multitool for emergencies though. Thanks for the advice. Rich

    Pedals

More often than I should , I'm a stickler for maintenance haha
  10. Is there any chance a technique section can be added to the forum? I know there's a lot of information on youtube but a dedicated section for technique on here would be a lot better. It would certainly help beginners like myself to know the proper form and reduce injuries. Rich

    Pedals

Blue thread lock I've heard helps but won't it make taking the pedals off for service a bit of a hassle?

Do you mean adding a washer is the cheap fix? Yes I'll proper crank the pedals on tight from now on.

    Pedals

Thought that would be the case Adam thanks. Never pedalled backwards when riding Enduro and DH so this is all new to me . I'm always a bit careful of tightening the pedals too much as they do self tighten like you said. The thought of rounding off the crank threads makes me feel rather queasy.

    Pedals

Has anyone found their pedals slowly get a little loose after riding? If so how have you managed to stop this from happening. I ride an Inspired Fourplay and recently fitted some Dmr V12's to replace the Trialtech pedals that came with the bike. I've been doing a lot of hopping and fakie riding so there will inevitably be some backward pedalling so maybe this is why the pedals are unwinding slowly. Rich
  15. I first started learning trials on my 29" full suspension and yes it's a lot easier on a trials specific bike as that's what they're designed for.
  16. Kind of the same street trials but on a larger BMX . It was a toss between the TSG and Pro Tec but after reading reviews I decided on the Pro Tec. Not anything to do with which one is better, it was all about the fit as I'm between sizes on the TSG (57cm)
  17. Decided to go for the Pro-Tec classic certified in the end chaps. Not a fan of the Endura as it's quite bulky.
  18. I was looking at that earlier but unfortunately my size is out of stock. I'm a 57cm head size. Stock in a lot of shops are getting pretty thin right now for everything.
  19. Thanks for the replies guys, yes definitely a piss-pot style I'm going for. I'll leave the MTB helmet for the dirty rides.
  20. I have Shimano XT brakes on my Enduro bike and they're not actually that great. I wouldn't use them for trials.
  21. That stuff looks really slippy
  22. Hello guys I'm after some advice on which helmet to buy for trials. I'm using my XC helmet at the moment but the peak is quite distracting and obscuring sometimes. I'm after something which doesn't move around too much as I'm used to mips which makes the helmet fit quite snug when tightened. My lid size is 57cm so it's a between size so that mips facility is very helpful at making it a better fit. Thanks Rich
  23. I was recently in the same frame of mind and bought a 29" Cube Stereo which took not that long to get used to the larger wheels. I mainly rode DH on my 26" Specialized Demo 8 but wanted something more up to date. The bike is more than capable from XC to DH and to be honest I wouldn't use anything else for mountain biking anymore. All the stories about them being slow in turns is pretty much nonsense unless you're a pro rider scrapping for 1/10th of a second here and there. They are a lot more forgiving over technical sections and you do seem to fly over them a lot quicker than smaller wheeled bikes. As for jumps there's no hindrance of having a larger wheel only benefit as the larger wheels aren't as twitchy and these days they're just as light as the smaller counterparts. To anyone who dispels the 29" without riding one I'd advise to try one first because you might find them amazing like I did.
  24. I've recently started to learn these and find them very difficult due to my footing. For rear wheel hops and general riding I'm left foot forward and prefer front wheel pivots anti-clockwise. This makes learning the foot jam tailwhip more difficult
