Smashed rear bodywork, fog light, numberplate, squashed fuel tank, one bent bit of chassis. Only took 2 hours to get all that off and prep the chassis for a new bit of tube (love cars that literally bolt together with no trim, arch liners and shit), so I've decided to rip the brakes apart and start fitting twin masters, a bias bar and dash adjuster while I wait for people to get back to me about fibreglass and fuel tank... Man logic at it's best
-
And to counter that, I've always used them with no issues, because the place next door does them for about a quid and I'm a cheapskate
-
It actually makes me happy too, but I wouldn't go as far as you with the wax, hehe. I used some cheap £5 'waterless car washing' stuff that is still beading a couple of months later.
-
Yep, water sat on top of a car
-
Wow, that's amazing beading, that wax must have been about £800 a tub?!
-
You would need the disc hose in that case. I seem to remember us having something kicking around, give us a bell Monday
-
Thanks, I guess so - the car is kinda flattering though, it's so capable...
-
Haha, yep I can now say I know what you mean on that one Nick It doesn't look bad at all considering, trickiest bit will be the fibreglass, but I have an idea...
-
Hmm. Not tyre related then! A 'wandery' rear end, if it's not shit tyres, is usually because of loose joints / bushings or toe out I think. Could be worth a check over?
-
Got lucky today (or it was partially skill to make the car go in like this rather than front on - I'm not quite sure)... No major damage despite an altercation with the arm-co... Any idea what the rear geo is like? Are all 4 tyres the same brand / model and at correct pressures?
-
Racing.there next year, and hoping to get a track day in sometime before that as practice... I'll give you (and Prawn) a shout if I plan to make the pilgrimage?
-
Speaking of sideways, off to Oulton Park for a track day tomoro. Forecast has been dry all week but it's currently raining. RWD + rain + over 400bhp/ton + no roof = FUN!
-
Freewheels are decent (and always have been), the bars are really light but I've not seen many at all break (surprising!).
-
Yeah, and LGMs are Lewis Greenhalgh (tryallmaster :wink2: ).
-
Nah you don't want the LGMs, they have a stupid name :wink2: Seriously though - Echo what others have said. LGMs seem to have the edge, slightly, but you need to have a good setup and fresh / sharp grind. ADMs have a bit more of a 'tacky' feel and because of this will still work when the grind is dead and if your setup isn't as perfect.

Thought it might be, hehe. Your long pedal could be a few things - pads worn at an angle, a touch of play in wheel bearings, bit of run out in the discs, for example - but could also be the bleed. Is it running one of the tandem master cylinders (two 'ports' out of the same cylinder)? If you get air in these at any point it can be a biatch to get out, ideally the MC needs 'bench bleeding': I reckon a combo of 'better' (but not too extreme so you have no cold performance) pads and a good service of the system would do the job... But if you're changing stuff around, maybe not worth putting too much time into it just yet!

The Ultralights were fine once I'd fitted good pads - but the car was only ~570kg... (Max rated vehicle weight for the Ultralites is 750kg IIRC) In that case, personally I'd go with better pads. You can fit the best calipers in the world but if you have crap pads, you still have shit brakes... I'd liken it to wheels and tyres - posh wheels and crap tyres = crap handling, standard OE wheels and good tyres = good road manners. What is the exact issue anyway? Just lack of power when cold / hot / all the time? Fade? Soft pedal?
-
Haha, yeah there are waaayyy too many. I think the Dynalite is pretty similar to the Billet 4. The ones I had were the Ultralight 4. Do you specifically want to save weight, try and increase performance or are you just after bling factor? Reason I say that is because the M16 calipers (guessing that's what you have on but my Capri knowledge is poor...) are actually pretty sweet and changing the pads will make more difference than the calipers. Or if it's 'free' due to the PH thing then I'll be quiet
-
I've had both (well, a Raceleda copy of Wilwood Dynalites, which are the same in every way) - think I prefer the Raceledas. Not much in it though, and the HiSpecs were damn light. Which ones were you thinking of exactly? I have no experience with Brembos though...
-
Luv you more. Sorry I can't be of more help but usually making stuff fit what you have already (rather than 'blindly' copying existing stuff) is the best way
-
They may do, give them a shout. Or just measure the hub and make the axle to fit that
-
Its a relatively complex set of dimensions - best bet would be remove your current one and copy it.
-
I didn't make the chart
-
Haha, thanks - changed again now!

If it's dead they should last a while - like a few months - providing you aren't using the brake while manualling etc.
