  1. thanks, but unfortunately they only have 24inch :P
  2. yeah the mavic is strong but its just not wide enough. I don't think I can get tioga over here and I'm not sure if they even make them anymore, thanks though. MaXsteri, do you have a grind on your front echo ? if you do does it hold well ? I think the best option right now is the echo...
  3. Thanks for the replies. I really can't afford to ruin pads so I guess the mavic is out of the question but the doublewide doesn't seem bad just worried about the angled surface though. How was the pad wear WILL?
  4. ok right now I've got mavic ex721 and as everyone knows they're not the widest of rims. So I'm planning on getting a wider rim, but the thing is I can't have it too wide or else it might cause a few problems with my v brakes. DX32 is impossible to get over and there is no onza dealer so they're out of the question. I can get echo, mavic, sun quite easily. This is what I had in mind: Because the new front echo rims are 38mm, i was thinking of running this as a rear. Do you think it'll hold up? What about running a mavic d321/ex729 ? 36mm wide and everyone knows the metal mavic uses rocks. Problem is its a disk only rim with JUST enough room for rim brakes. But I know that a few people on here have used it with rim brakes and have said it works (a few have also said it sucks). A bit dodgy but if it works it's probably the best option since mavic rims are hella strong. If anyone has done this please comment. I can also get the sun kingpin which is 34mm. Its hefty though at 880g and 34mm is not really that wide. rim brake rim though so thats a plus. So those were what i was considering if anyone has any other suggestions for rims that'll be great. Oh and i dont think I can get tioga either? do they even still make the DH rim.
  5. the sidehop model looks really nice. I want one (Y)
  6. you would think it would be easier to get CRV's in australia but the last time I checked they were still finalising the backings. Might be available now though but i thought I'd give the heatsinks a try. I'm using spanish fly's now and they're below average really, they make a ton of noise and they're beginning to crack. So what heatsinks were you using ? the white ones ? because thats what I'm getting, I would be running a smooth rim for now but might run a grind with my new rims. I'm pretty sure you know Felix, the smooth german rider, he seems to love them. So was it just lack of power for you ? and what pads are you using now?
  7. yeah I'll have a look around ebay and stuff because like you've said xtr is one of the best. I can feel a fair bit of flex in my brakes so thats why i thought i need a booster ? It could be just my pads and housing though, problem might go away when i get my heatsinks and linear slic's. I'll see how it goes i guess. Thanks for the replies, appreciate it!
  8. Thanks paul but unfortunately I live all those miles away in Australia. I can get an RB v brake booster though, would that be alright ?
  9. anyone else ?? you think i can get away with running the 4 bolt booster on my v's ?? will that even work ? :S
  10. sorry to steal your thread. But right now my moving pad is touching the rotor slightly and my barrel adjuster on the lever is turned out a fair way. I have to do this to have a nice feel at the lever. If I turn the barrel adjuster on the lever all the way in and set the moving pad to not touch the rotor, the lever has to be pulled a long way in before the brake engages. The stationary pad is already as close as it can get to the rotor without touching and the cable is pulled through as much as it can. It still works fine really, awsome power but a couple of people said your not supposed to use the barrel adjuster on the lever, so i'm just wondering if I've done anything wrong. Could it be the pads ? because i bought this second hand.
  11. Ok I need a v brake booster and saw on the Heatsink site that they'll be releasing one. It says that it'll be released in november so any news on availability yet ?
  12. wow you can afford deemax's but not a trials bike ?? anyways that bike is pretty nice, makes me want to ride my norco again. I always thought gimps had that headtube plate gusset thing ? I think it looks much better without it. Maybe try some v brakes ?
  13. what about the wethepeople straight vector ? any experiences with that ? and do you think its worth it to pay so much for the nokon ?
  14. yeah this (norco moment) will be my streety trials bike. I have my other bike for real trials. Cheers for comments, any other opinions are welcome. Thanks.
  15. for streety trials how do you think it'll ride ? would it just stuff up the geometry ? by the way its not a dedicated trials frame, its a norco. Discuss.
  16. thats hot stuff, very nice ride....where can you get a DX32 in aus ?
  17. xc helmets, more comfortable....specialized decibel or bell sweep xc are sweet!
  18. how are the echo cranks ? ^^^^
  19. well essentially right now I only use two gears, trials gear = 22-18 and travelling gear = 22-13. If I use 18T, my travelling gear will be 18/13= 1.38 which compared to what I use now 22/13= 1.69 is too easy a gear to be a travelling gear. I would love to have 22T at the front or even 20T but cranks that allow that are kinda expensive like middleburns, bonz etc. So if I use 18T there really is no point in having a travelling gear that is only slightly harder. I guess what I'm trying to say is, should I go singlespeed and ditch the travelling gear or should I use a cassette and have a travelling gear ? Or are there any cranks out there that can take a 22T and aren't that expensive ?
  20. are the new echo bb only for the CNCed cranks or can they work with the forged ones as well ?
  21. I've recently bought a 8 speed cassette with a ratio of 12-25 - 12.13.15.17.19.21.23.25. Later on down the track I'm thinking of buying some echo cranks and using 18T up front and 15T at the back. Spindle length on my bb is only 118 so will using the 15T on the cassette throw my chainline off? any help would be great thanks!
