  1. I had one for a year or so, but it cracked behind the headtube as T-Pro's have a tendancy to do...
  2. Should hopefully be out in Soton on sunday, anyone else feel like riding? I should imagine standard time and place will apply
  3. Just realised i never texted you back! Sorry hehe, yeah both me and Tom should be there....
  4. Can anyone give directions to the Guildhall from Fratton station? It's a bus link from there... And a rough idea how long that will take please? Thanks
  5. Dont listen to them Southamptons pretty good for riding! I was in Connaught halls last year, all i can say is enjoy the fire alarms! But yeah let me and Tommy D know, we're close to you, and we'll come riding! P.S. Check this video out, it was filmed entirely by Tom and I in Monte and Connaught! http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....;hl=wessex+lane
  6. That is a beautiful bike long live the saddles!
  7. As Tom said thanks for all the positive feedback! First time i've checked this thread and your comments have really made my day!
  8. I've heard it said that "tricks and stunts" by Martin Ashton and Martin Haywes is an awesome DVD/video to get. I'm pretty confident it's a teaching one, though i'd like somebody to confirm this so i don't get into trouble hehe....
  9. I was just in the process of creating a video myself, but i feel so unworthy now! You truly are one of the greatest riders of our day, you're a massive inspiration to me, so just keep it up!!!
  10. Would it not just be easier to man up and go to the gym more instead? You could probably save more than 25g just by having a haircut or something!
  11. I definitely would! But don't fear its nothing to be ashamed of, that is one beast of a bike!
  12. Hello people! Yeah as Tom says, my 2003/4 black Giant is the older model of your blue one, but i believe the only difference between them is the colour, the geo is the same..... The geo on my one is a 1040 wheelbase exactly, with Ashton forks. There is no bb rise, but rather a bb drop, i think maybe 10 mm? The chainstays are pretty long, i can measure them if you need more accurate lengths, and the frame height is 13.5 inches...... Any accurate measurements you need, let me know!
  13. My proper real saddle!! Sitting down whilst pedalling feels sooo good after riding mod for 3 years.....

    Brakes....

Thanks for your help, but as i run a wide rim on an old-skool frame at present i won't have enough clearance for CNC pad backings (thank you to sukoto for pointing this out!)....So i'd quite like to hear about the clear rock pads if anyone knows much about them? Thanks

    Brakes....

Hmmmm......that puts me off them somewhat, even though the one i have on the front of my bike is probably the best brake i've ever used.... With such differing reviews i think i shall go for some pads and maybe a booster? Why is this so difficult!

    Brakes....

I'm liking to the look and sound of these clear rock pads, has anyone used them? I like a little bit of modulation in my brakes.....

    Brakes....

Actually i ride a Giant frame so i have normal v mounts on the frame anyway! Thanks everyone, i'll most likely get some new pads and the XTR's then, as my SD-7 is a little knakered anyway...

    Brakes....

Hi people! My Avid SD 7 has now slipped once too many times for me to be comfortable with it, so i'm looking for a new rear Vee brake, or a way to make my brake better... My initial thoughts is a better brake, and i'm told Avid ultimates are the way foward (but expensive), and have also noticed that XTR's are half the price of them. I'm currently erring on the side of the XTR at the moment, but would like to know if anyone has used both and if there will be much difference? I'm currently using some standard back koolstop pads which seem pretty grippy, but any other suggestions are welcome. Or should i just get a brake booster? All opinions are welcome! (I have a smooth-ish rim on the back which was ground a long time ago but is now more or less smooth, if this is of any use to people) ...................and no i don't want to grind it again! Thanks!
  19. Since i love my Giant i'll do you a review of that hehe. It's the 2003 Black Giant Team Trials frame, with a 1040 wheelbase and a whopping 13.5 inch frame size.....it even has capacity for 24 gears! I don't know by how much, but there is a definite bottom bracket drop too, so it is by no means a conventional trials frame any more. Riding wise i love it. The relatively short frame means its easy to pull up and throw around a bit, without being cramped and stopping gapping or anything. Streety riding is very possible and fun on it. It has pretty long chainstays, which make spinning more difficult, but i still have no trouble doing it. I have noticed how spinning is easier on other similar stock frames, however i think they make gapping easier so i don't really mind. Having a proper saddle on my bike is brilliant and its even possible to pedal whilst sitting down! The frame has a disc mount and vee mounts, if thats of any use to you.... Hmm i'm not sure what else to say, or how much of that was helpful, but let me know if you want any more.
  20. Its definitely possible so i wouldn't give up if you really want to learn it..... I can manage about bar height on my Giant Team trials frame with a proper DMR saddle, i usually need some momentum to do them though, its hard from just being still on the back wheel! (This is probably my technique, not the fact i ride an old skool frame!) One hop to back wheel and then up is usually fine though.
  21. I think it only rained for an hour right in the middle of the day...otherwise the weather was surprisingly good. But the day was most certainly a success because i learnt to wallride!! See you in london!
  22. Come on people, no one at all?!
  23. Thanks for all the good positive comments people! I have to admit i was kind of expecting to get mocked a bit from this vid since its not the most serious thing, but i was obviously wrong! P.S: Connaught > Monty
