Think of the model and the way its turning and then try to see how it could possibly be turning the opposite way. As the model is unsymetrical one part will allways lead in its revolution, just from that can see its a fake, also look at the shadow

lol its nothing but a trick it shanges directions every so often, the model gives it away as there is no symetry so can only possibly be spinning one way to the viewer unless of course it changes its direction

I recall seeing an adaptor that bolts onto the 4 bolt mounts and goes over the axle (or something similar atleast) a fair while back, can't really remember how effective it was but will have a look for it. Edit: found it here, best to pm him and see what it was like.
