  1. I built up a new lightweight Phase recently (although the term's relative when compared to these bikes!) and I'm missing the extra stability when going at some speed! The bike's a lot more twitchy mid-air, though it rules for static stuff..
  2. Hi Paul.

Glad you're up for it mate. I'm aiming to be at the London eye for 11am.

Hopefully see you there, give me a call if you need to; 07540 851297

    Mike

  3. I think it's gonna be 'one of those rides'.. Game on
  4. Sweet bike - looks purposeful!
  5. Cheers Luke, I'm glad you like the whole package. Thanks for the comment
  6. Lets get it on from 11? Meet at the London eye area.

Sounds like a plan if you've already got vee mounts on your frame. A decent vee can be as good as a Magura or sometimes even better. Same goes as for a mag though, good pads, set up square, a booster, decent cables, etc.
  8. Morning chaps, A good few of us are going to ride London tomorrow, the loughborough crew, bedford/MK lot, Danny B, etc are going down. Anyone else care for a bit of a spin sur les velos dans le fromage? Mike
  9. Still waiting for Tarty to decide on that one. In the meantime, you can pay using paypal without actually having an account, but using a debit/credit card. Or simply get in touch via the site, and we can arrange payment via bank transfer or cheque etc.
  10. I don't follow this bit? Nice job so far. As a heads up, the 'standard' dimensions for the pad recess are 47mm long x 7mm wide x 4mm deep, with an 11mm x 7mm x 2mm central section. Unless you're going for specific TNN versions, then it's probably best to use these dimensions as many more pads will fit 'em! You'll probably need a custom tool to be made to make the recess for the O-ring, and also be aware of the tolerances on that section as they're very tight! (I had a bit of a nightmare when deciding to use 1.5, 1.6, 1.8 or 2mm O-rings! ) Good luck,
  11. I'd rather not everyone got lumped into that judgement! Pretty shocking that TMS are selling them for less than wholesale There's not even any info about the frame on their website, just a thumbnail.. Are they made in the same factory as the Inspireds? The headtube gusset looks pretty similar as the 4play.

Sounds like a brake upgrade is definitely in order! Depending where you get the brakes from (check with the store), they should come with 4-bolt mounts if it's from anywhere trials-related. It's worth upgrading to a 4-finger lever blade straight away, and depending on your frame, getting at least a 2-bolt booster too. Most riders grind their rims these days, especially now winter is coming, so that might be worth considering. However a good level of braking performance can be had on a smooth rim. The pads that come with them will last ages, but work poop! Those are the main thing that you should get whilst upgrading, from what you've said, it'd be worth getting some pads that are gonna work on wet and dry, on smooth or ground rims As for whether the 11's or 33's are better.. the 33's seem to be placed higher in the model range, but I think the general consensus is that the HS11's are just as good in reality.
  13. What pads have you got in there Oli? Could you grab a pic slightly more side-on?
  14. Good on them for trying something different, at least.. Cracking spot on the X1 Starfighter! Anyone know what the Kobike connection is?
  15. The thing with magazines is there's more to them than news and reviews! What about well written, insightful articles like there used to be? Cool interviews and awesome pics that weren't posted on the internet within 30 seconds of being taken? That'd be sweet
  16. Danny. As I said via email, best of luck with the shop, but as a bit of advice, get everything ready before you shout too much about your launch! There's a lot of work involved in doing what you want to, not least if you want to keep it legal. For a starters you can't take and use images as you have done without permission. The idea of selling at events, shows, comps and rides is definitely the strongest idea here, and I'd love to see that work - keep on it! Just don't bite off more than you can chew. (That's also a request for you to please remove my images from any of your media until you contact PHW about it!) Good luck!
  17. Thanks guys. Interesting data set! For those of you who've had lots of frames, but spent (relatively) little, such as Ross M; is it that you've just bought frames very cheaply 2nd hand?
  18. If you can, removing links is the quick fix.
  19. Good point, I guess if you've bought full builds, then the rough value of the frame at that time.
  20. Elo Chaps. Just a quick poll if you don't mind. How much have you spent on trials frames in the last 3 years? Just the total spent, don't worry if you've sold frames or whatever.. And how many have you had? Thanks for your help! Mike. Edit: £300-500 I'm 20-22 8-10 frames...
  21. Hey guys. Another one of these! Would you mind posting up pictures of your broken frames? How long the frame has been ridden for would also be a big help. Mike.
  22. Although the irony is that if the riders spent half as much time setting up their brakes as they do talking about setting up their brakes, their brakes would be a whole load better.
  23. This is the issue with brake pads! Reviews like these are almost impossible to base a decision on. For the topic starter, based on so many varying opinions, go with your instinct as to which you feel are gonna be the best, most reliable pads for you, on your setup, in the conditions you want to ride in.
  24. Arm pump's caused due to your forearms not getting enough Oxygen; as you grip and grip and grip the handlebars, it really restricts the blood flow. Try opening and closing your fist as much as possible on the bars whilst riding, relaxing wherever possible and allowing as much blood as possible to get to your arms. The right diet helps too! Foods such as Garlic, Pumpkin Seeds, Oranges, Nuts and Watermelon all have blood-flow boosting properties.
