  1. Welcome! I'm in Hedge End - not finished my bike yet though, so no riding till the middle of July.
  2. No bluetooth though, unlike the second gen ones.
  3. Damn - I just worked out that I can save a whole 1kg by changing my tyres and tubes!!! Great thread!
  4. You might want to get the ok from the webmaster as I run a site like this and once had 2000 concurrent users and the site ground to a halt. My site is hosted on a dedicated server, so that takes some doing. Turns out everyone one was looking at a funny thread which had spread across the net and even made printed media including the telegraph and FMH. lol. Thread has almost half a million veiws now. Here is the thread in question: http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/car-talk/11...my-new-car.html Only posting because I want it to make the half million views mark! lol.
  5. They probably come out of the same factory in Taiwan!! lol
  6. Thanks for the reply. Sounds about right to be honest looking at the photos they have put up. Are the cheap ACS Claws any good? http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...;category_id=16 They seem much cheaper than other options on the Tartybike site, but I don't want something that is going to skip. Any low(ish) budget recommendations? This isn't something I'm going to skimp on though if a more expensive one really is a better option.
  7. I'm most likely going to go for a half link chain, but only because my stoke has horizontal dropouts and no tensioner mount - and people on here have had problems getting some ratios to work on this frame (either a standard chain is too long or too short). I need the half link setup to give me more adjustability. however, if it don't need a half link chain (I'll check with a spare one first), I won't go for one. Basically, go for a standard type chain unless there is a reason to go for a half link.
  8. Hi - I've just bought a stock frame which takes a 116mm hub. I'm after advice on what to go for in order to ensure strengh. My budget isn't big, so please keep this in mind. From what I see, there are three choices of type of hub: - Freehub with sprocket - Fixed hub with screw on cog (with freewheel on the crank) - Fix hub with screw on freewheel The latter may not be possible as I may take my Middleburn RS7s off my XC bike and fit a trials ring, so may need to be a fixed ring on the front (18T). Depends on how much a new set of XC cranks are though - I need a bottom bracket for my XC at the moment, so figured an all in one crank/bb bracket would be a good idea - like the Shimano SLX or XT, thus freeing up the RS7s. Not 100% sure on this though. Please advise either way. Oh - I'm after a 16T to go on the rear and I don't need a rear disc mount. Any advice would be great. Thanks. Edit: would this be any good? Comes with a cog too. http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?pr...category_id=147
  9. Sounds like a front freewheel is the way to go then. Was something I was going to ask, but no need now. What would be a good budget rear hub to go for then?
  10. As said, for that money, you can get a very good hard tail. If you opt to full suspension, you will end up with somthing heavy, under speced and possible not great to ride. At that budget, have a look at the Specialized range, or the GT Zaskar.
  11. Great link... but it reinforces my lust for green!
  12. Assuming you mean the GT Hans "No Way" Rey, I sold it a while back. I couldn't get on with the geometry of it, just felt too jump/street for me. Was lovely to look at though. If you mean my Black 1993 GT Zaskar (as shown in ), I do still have that. Maybe you lot are right about colours. If I stick to black, at least I can mix and match without things looking wrong. Plus getting hold of used stuff would be easier too. not sure on white rims though, although if I matched them with white grips....... hmmmm
  13. Hi - Just picked this up from Parcel Force! It is a 24Seven Holroyd and I'm really happy with it, got it on ebay for £100 and it is new, although slightly shop soiled (a few minor marks). They didn't describe it too well in the listing, so was surprised to find and FSA ISIS bottom bracket and an FSA headset fitted, plus a spare set of frame stickers! Bars and stem are no-name brand, but appear reasonably decent. Forks are alloy too. Can't wait to build this thing up - will be my first proper trials bike. Could do with some help though - I want to pick a colour to buy all the parts in - Green anodised seems like and interesting choice, but I'm a bit restricted on brands that do green. What colour do you think would look best?
  14. Thanks guys - 18-16 sounds good to me. I've found a few trials specific half link chains, so the horizontal dropout shouldn't pose a problem. I can't wait to get this thing built up!! Oh - I'll buy the correct size hub! I like the idea of having a 116mm hub, why have a wider hub designed to run 7 to 9 speed cassettes when all you want is a single gear? I like minimalist stuff me.
  15. Acer Aspire one here - bought the cheapest one (16gb SSD and Unix) then rammed a much faster 40GB Pod hard drive into it and upgraded the ram to 1.5GB. It is running Windows 7 so quick it even shocked me. I also have a 15" HP for normal use. If you are buying a netbook to be your only PC, deffo look at at least 10", Dell and Acer do great ones in that size, although with the Dell you get the option of a 720p screen, which would be better for general use as well as watching movies on.
  16. Hi - I've just bought this 24seven Holroyd: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=380125902269 I plan to build this up over the next few months. I used to do trials in the early '90s (see video ), but the new setup will be single speed. The 24Seven frame I've bought takes a 116mm rear hub, so single speed only. Assuming a 17T or 18T at the front, what would be a good beginner ratio - i.e. how many teeth at the rear. I'll be on 26" wheels and 175mm cranks. Also, anyone know what ratios run on this frame without using a half link chain or tensioner? Are half links chains okay to use on a trials bike anyway? Anyone else got this bike? Pics please! Thanks.
  17. I think I love you*. Thanks so much for that! *Not in that way!
  18. That was the point of the bump - to ask if anyone by any long shot chance have kept a copy.
  19. Ah cheers for the invite, but I need to go update my profile, not in Chichester anymore.
  20. I've got a stack of CDRs at my parents house, I'm going to go through them at the weekend incase I backed it up at some point. I'll post it up again when (if) I find it!
  21. Hi Guys - I've not been on here for a while. With regards to the video on the first post of this thread, my only copy of it was on a hard drive that failed a few weeks back. I know this is a long shot, but y any chance did anyone download and keep a copy of it that they can email me? Do let me know. Thanks Mike
  22. I only ride in the summer, so I'll be here more often then.
  23. I live near Goodwood, so it is a great place to take photos - there wasn't an event going on, although they were preparing for the Revival this weekend. I saw Jamie on Saturday as we had a track day at Castle Combe. Jamie is a member of MIGClub which I run. Thinking about it, he still owes me £45.....
  24. Yep - I'm 30 years old, a home owner and have 10 year NCD.
  25. My buffer is not a rotary, so they are no swirls. It was used to remove swirls - which it did very well. The photos don't do it justice to be honest, but the car sort of glows instead of simply looking clean. The work I put in would show up more on a darker car, as white and silver cars tend to hide defects anyway. I'll be cleaning my wife's black car this week, so that should be a contrast.
