  1. Very good - I'll be watching that a few more times I think.
  2. I was on that site earlier today. I have his limited edition trails frame (see avatar). In the news section it says he just entered his first trials event since 1998 and came second! Nice one. PS. I met Hans in 1993 when I was competing against him. :">
  3. I am considering getting a new frame. Now that the Hi-Fi has been around a bit longer, I assume a few people have tried them out. I am interested to know opinions on how it rides please. I know some people don't like the look of it, but I do. Anyway, I'm not worried about looks, just how it rides. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  4. The extact same thing happened to me when I was 16 when we were all going to greece. BTW, I just got back from Florida too (10 days ago) - I had a great time. Rain was a bit of a pain - every day at bang on 3pm!!! We had an amazing storm while we were there - thought we were going to get a tornado. I couldn't find any bike shops out there though.
  5. I may come along if my wrist is useable! :"> (I've been unable to ride for 10 days now!)
  6. The chain line is dictated by the position of the rear cog, not the mech. Are you sure the rear cog is in the correct position? Could it also be that you are running an old chain on new cogs/rings or a new chain on old ones? This could create a grinding of the teech as it is no meching so well.
  7. Adam, try http://www.ev1servers.net/. I have used them for a while now with no problems. Don't be put off by them being in the USA - thier support is 24hours and I have had better support from US hosts than I have from UK ones. I had a dedicated server from them a while ago and I'm running my second one now - a dual Xeon 3.2GHz HT with 2GB DDR ram and 2 SATA drives. I know what it is like to have a busy site - I get around 4 million page hits a month! :P www.migweb.co.uk if you are interested. Also, I noticed your site is a php driven site. Are you running GZip to compress your pages thus saving bandwidth and reducing wait time for users?
  8. I got nothing from my parents for my GSCE, A Level, HND or my Degree results. When I got my degree all my mum said was "Is that all?". I was going to do Architecture at university, but because my parent temporarily split up, I was upset and could not revise as well as I could have for my A Levels. As a result, I did not get the required results to do architecture and ended up doing Civil Engineering instead. To this day, my mum still tells people that I am an Architect as she is embarrased that I am not. As you can see, my parents gave me little support - but I do things for myself, not them. Good luck with your results - I hope you get what you wish for.
  9. I ordered some Plazmatic CRMs from Tartybikes yesterday. I'm looking forward to trying them out.
  10. It you end up going for the High Roller, try www.dreamcycles.co.uk as they do a pair of the standard ones for £20!!!
  11. I want a 911, it's my dream. I know running costs are going to be more and it is something I'm ready for (tyres, fuel, insurance, maintainence). I'm hoping the lack of depreciation will outweigh these extra costs. Link doesn't work. :(
  12. £5000 is a lot. The warrenty would only be for one year, and to make it worth doing, £5000 stuff would need to go wrong in that year, which is unlikey. I would deffo get an RAC check on any non approved car that I consider. I have factory satnav in my Astra Coupe Turbo and love it. The stereo, climate control, trip computer, nav and more is all shown on the screen which is great. Tyres are not too bad, the front ones are no more expensive than what I have on my Astra, the rears are more, but I was previously considering a new Astra VXR with 19" wheels, so in comparison to that, they are no more expensive. Obviously the car will cost more to own, but after 5 years it would have lost little off the value, whereas an Astra VXR will drop from £21,000 to about £7,000.
  13. I'm at the very least going to get one from a dealer, but will try to get an approved one. Approved ones seem to be about £5000 more expensive though. I only look at the one yesterday to check out a few things. It was silver, tiptronic and 4x4 - all of which I don't want. I'm after a darker colour (maybe grey metallic) but not black. I want satnav to and if possible 18" wheels as standard they has 17s but most people opted for the upgrade from factory.
  14. Sam - I was thinking the exact same thing this morning. There used to be a log yard outside Wickam which I used to go to around 15 years ago, but it isn't there anymore. I would deffo be interested in joining you if you find somewhere suitable. I have some video of me do trials there on a 1990 Saracen 18" XC bike, I'll try and dig out the footage and encode it if I have time.
  15. It's the 911 I'm after, not a boxster. The 911 is a 2+2 seater, basically 2 adults and 2 kids / midgets. The Boxster is a 2 seater.
  16. I was going to come along but I had an appointment at 11am :). I'll try and make the next ride. Oh, Sam. It seems my old trials skills are coming back to me! :P How did the ride go?
  17. I read the pad thread but still not 100% sure which pad to get. I am running HS33s and Mavic 721CD rims with no grind. I'm not interested in wet weather performance either. I'm thinking Plazmatic CRMs, but thought I would check with you guys first. Thanks.
  18. No - it isn't that easy. The cars are very different. The turbo version costs £40,000 more than the regular ones for a reason. Plus, fiddling with something like a Porsche isn't something people do, it would also devalue it.
  19. I had a look around one yesterday - I couldn't drive it as it was under offer. The rear seats are tiny. If I moved the front seats forward, it would give just about enough room for an average adult to site for short journeys, but I think long ones would be out of the question. The cabin looks great and the seating position is really nice. I am going to go with one with Satnav as this give load of extra features and many seem to have it anyway. I read into Tiptronic gear shift and I'm going to stay away for that as the 0-60 is 6s instead of 5.2s that you get from the 6 speed manual. Next I'll need to drive one, should be fun.
  20. I've just bought a load of Sram stuff. One reason for this is that the low end stuff is much lighter than the equivalent Shimano stuff. The rear mech is mostly made of a resin plastic so should bounce back after knocks. The 8 speed roadie cassette (23-12) is very light compared to a shimano one and looks stunning quality. The shifter is a 2 trigger type, but it uses a 1:1 shift ratio making changes smoother and adjustment more acurate. The rear mech, cassette and shifter came in at under £60 the lot, so items are cheap to replace. I have yet to fit it all, so I'll update with performance at a later date, but from what I've read, it should be really good. Oh - and it is a bit different to the usual Shitmano stuff people use. :P
  21. As already said, the hose is too flexible for this sort of use. You will need a really tough hose and it is unlikely that you will find a suitable one in clear as clear materials have no carbon content which makes plastic harder. This is the same as why you don't get clear tyres - the rubber would be so sorf, they would where as quick a cheese.
  22. There are lots of nice cars, but the 911 is the one I want. I love the GT3, but parts for this are very expensive, plus, they cost around £55,000+. I would also love a 911 Turbo, but again, this is too pricey - maybe that will be my second Porsche.
  23. SLKs are like Boxters though - you only buy on if you can't afford the SL. to be honest, it is a Porsche or stick with what I've got. Owning a 911 has been my dream for vitually my whole life and it is time to realise this dream now that everything else in my life is crap.
  24. My current car is faster than a Boxster, and my previous car was even faster than my current one - so I'm no stranger to fast cars. I love the SL55 AMG, but they are notorious unreliable, more expensive than the Porsche, very expensive to service and oh, voted no1 car for gay men. I'm married - but not for long, hense why I'm going to have some spare cash (selling the house) :-
  25. I think that too - although the Boxter S is pretty fast. The new cayman is pretty nice too - out in Noveber I think. 911 all the way for me though. Oh - just got a first insurance quote as a guide - £1340. No bad, should be able to get it cheaper if I shop arround.
