  1. I think people have different standards of clean. Not only is it clean, but the paint is 100% smooth with no swirls, scratches, discolouration etc. It is a bit more than just clean.
  2. I just cleaned up my coupe properly for the first time. I spent around 8 hours on it and the difference is amazing. I used the following products to do the cleanup: Porter Cable dual action polisher Sonus SFX polisher pads Sonus clay block Sonus clay lube Meguiars Gold class shampoo Poorboys SSR2.5 pure polish Carlack68 sealant P21S Carnuba wax Meguiars microfibre cloths and towels Here a the results. <_< Let me know what you think. More below.
  3. The silver one is great because it is fast when you plant your foot, but pootling around is great and it quiet too. The red one was a handful - the engine was pretty much BTCC spec and really loud. That thing shifted though, I had loads of fun with it. What you have to remember about the red one is that it is my old car - I got it in 1996 - back then it was a really desirable car (like my current coupe is now). I just bought a polisher from the USA to really clean up my Coupe, cost about £200 with a mains transformer, polishing pads, main extension - but should be well worth it. I can't wait for delivery!!! I'll post some more photos when I've cleaned it. (Y)
  4. Yeah - I got some Ibuleve cream. I think I'm going to have to work on my wrist strenght. Any tips (Y)" Only kidding, I'll get some of those squeezy things or something. Really sucks though as I wasn't really doing anything strenous.
  5. It's the biggest all Vauxhall site on the net: www.migweb.co.uk (Y)
  6. Those of you who were at the Southampton ride this weekend probably spotted that I didn't ride my bike at all - that's because I have a bad wrist. Just been to the doctors and have been told it is most likely tendonitis and I can't ride for a few weeks until it is 100% better. I'm gutted as I've bought a load of new stuff which I really want to try out. Oh well - to chear myself up a bit, I bought a 2.5 Maxxis High Roller DH super tacky and a DH inner tube. (Y) Any tips on how to avoid similar injuries in the future?
  7. Nice. Pity I had to leave early.
  8. Yes - I use Astrasport with the same username as I use here. I also use migweb as I run it.
  9. Yeah, but 600g is a massive difference. The wheels did originally have alloy nipples so would have been a bit lighter, but they kept seizing and were a pain to adjust. The hubs where the first MTB hubs Hope did. The old wheels will go on my 1993 Zaskar when I build it back up - along with my Middleburn RS1s. (Y)
  10. It was a great event. I can't believe there is someone else on here who went there. I got a bit star struck with Hans - he in fact approached me saying "Ah! Black Zaskar" (he rode a Zaskar at the time). I got him to ride it though. (Y). The vid you have, is it one you took or an official film? I'd be interested in seeing it either way. River jumping was cool! I cocked up in the bunny hop comp, my brother did ok though. I've still got my Etto SML helmet! What happened to Etto?
  11. I now have a set of new wheels - Hope hubs (32/36 hole) with black spokes, black nipples and Mavic 721 CD rims. They look great and should be really strong. If you have seen any of my previous posts, you may know that I used to do trials in the early '90s when there were no trials specific products around - you just used XC stuff. Well, when I built up my bike, I used my 1995 XC off my old GT Zaskar trials bike. As I wanted to rebuild the Zaskar as a retro bike, I knew a wanted to get new wheels for my new bike, thus freeing up the old wheels for the Zaskar again. Well, when I got the new wheels as described above, I weighed them to compare against my old wheels. Well I was amazed. The new wheels are no heavy weight - in fact quite the opposite, but the old wheels were over 600g lighter!!!! The old wheels consist of a racer lightweight Hope Titanium up front 28 spoke on a Mavic 230 rim, the the rear is a Hope Titanium 32 spoke with a Mavic 217. All spokes are butted. The wheels were very good to me and are still true. I just can't believe how much lighter they were. No quite sure why I wanted to share this story, but someone may be interested.
  12. It was a 1.6, but it has been bored out to a 1.7 now - with over 250bhp. I used SBD for all my parts when I had the red car.
  13. oh my god - yes!!! I was on the black GT Zaskar. If you have footage, I'd be interested in seeing it.
  14. All Coupes are Bertones as they built them. They can be a 1.6, 1.8 2.2 and 2.0 Turbo - like mine. The turbo is very rare and the range topping version with 200bhp as standard, but mine has an extra 50bhp. I was lucky to find one with great options including SatNav, leather, electric sunroof.. and more. You may have spotted a recent thread where I state that I'm looking into getting a Porsche 911 996 C2, so no more mods to the Coupe.
  15. Normally aspriated means no forced induction - i.e. no turbo or supercharger etc and no nitrous. Just a normal engine breathing air in all by itself.

  17. Not wanting the Hijack this thread, I have posted a new thread here: http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....topic=61198&hl=
  18. I didn't want to hijack another thread where I was asked for some details of my old car, so I started a new thread. My old Astra GTE 16v was featured in 3 magazines and was the fastest of its type in the UK. This is how it was when it was featured in Revs magazine in 1997. THe engine was pretty much stnadard back then. It was later featured in Redline and Total Vauxhall Magazines in 1999 and 2001 respectively - it had 230bhp at this time. The car got attention for its clean and simple looks plus its over the top mechanical modifications. It ended up with 250bhp from the original 2.0 16v engine and this was without a turbo or nitrous etc. The car set a record of a standing quarter mile of 13.89s (at Santa Pod) and the record stood for 3 years. Basically it was the fastest normally aspirated Astra FWD in the UK. My current car is an astra Coupe turbo with 250bhp - not as fast as the old Astra GTE, but still a bit of fun.
  19. The magura ones state that they only have clearance for 2.1 tyres, but to be honest, look like it will take a 2.35 Maxxiz no problem. I'll check out the others above too. Cheers - and keep the suggestions coming.
  20. Surely that wouldn't fit due to the magura quick release?
  21. I don't have Magura 4-bolt mounts and I'm getting loads of flex on them. Which booster can I use if any? I am running the latest HS33 with the EVO mount. Thanks.
  22. Doesn't look like my wrist will be up to it, but I may come along to spectate though.
  23. Plus - fastcar don't feature fast cars, just regular cars with too much stick on tat. Saying that, my old car was featured in Revs, Redline and Total Vauxhall...... :">
