This is basically how I got my permanent residence. I began on a working holiday visa then to a de fecto visa and finally PR was granted. TOOK SO MUCH paperwork and time! My girlfriend is Aussie and I am not married. Not Lax at all. One of the hardest countries to get into to. Oh, and one of the very few that is still in Economic growth.

I moved to Australia 5 years ago. I firstly moved the Brisbane QLD, bought a house etc.. Recently (6 months ago) I moved to Melbourne. Easily the best city I have ever visited / lived in. My job involved extensive flights around Aus (120 flights last year). In fact, I have just returned from my trip to Perth and Adelaide, off to Sydney on Friday. Melbourne offers an amazing climate. Cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I am a fan of seasons. QLD has just got one season really… hot most of the time. I love Melbourne for its food, coffee and diverse culture PLUS most importantly its riding scene . I think it was voted the most liveable city in the world two years running.. Simon mentioned Perth being expensive. IT IS!!! The mining industry has inflated prices ridiculously!! Those 'cashed up bogans' love to splash their cash. So, unless you are prepared to work down the mines and earn the MEGA $$$ I would not recommend Perth. However, it is a pretty cool city but good coffee is hard to come by ;p Regarding living costs in Aus, everything is generally relative.. For instance the average wage in Aus is $65,000 pa and in the UK its approx 22,000 grand. My weekly food bill is around $180 and in the UK it was 60 quid.. Do the math. I can provide loads more examples for cars, properties, watches, bikes, photography equipments etc.. THE THING is that the Aussie $ is so strong at the moment.. For the UK tourist to visit Aus you are getting your pants pulled down.. However, for the Aussie tourist to visit the UK we have BIG smiles CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!! My student loan is being paid off nicely. (Yes you still have to pay off your loan even if you have left the country lol). Australia is the land of opportunity for people that are willing to work HARD to reap its FULL AMAZING BENEFITS!!! Oh, I came over here because my girlfriend is Aussie. I am now a permanent resident. I have a smooth rim on my Inspired. I use LGMs. I gap rails, ride rocks etc with no problem. Love riding a smooth rim, makes riding so flowy and quiet.

So, does this mean if we roll our bars forward we can ride like Jack? Just saying..

Have not added any of my pics on here yet. Here are a few of my favourites I stopped the car driving down a country road to take this. Light was perfect. No added saturation. Single Exp. I would advise you to stick to Canon or Nikon. Maybe look into a second hand D3100. Great camera to start off with and very affordable. I was a student once, I realised that the loan alone was not going to pay my way. I got a job while studying full time to pay for my car, bikes, night outs etc. I am sure if you put some cash aside you would be able to have a sweet DSLR Let us know what you go with. And yep.. Another expensive hobby :/

Hey, it's a fantastic lens, especially for trials pics / landscapes. At 16mm the distortion is very minimal and is pretty damn sharp in all corners. Also, the build quality is solid (what you should expect from a jap piece of glass). The colours it producers are vibrant and pop nicely. I sold it because now I shoot with an FX body (D800). For wide angles I use the all rounder Nikon 24-70 2.8. Very pricey I know. I had the Tokina for just over a year and sold it for 40 pounds less than I paid new. They retain their value really well if looked after. I will post some pics up when I get back home in a couple of days Highly recommended Lens!

I see, I agree the zooms can be a lazy approach to shots. I always find that when I use primes my shots are framed better and less cropping in post. For your D300s I strongly recommend you checking out the Nikon 60mm 2.8 micro. It would work out to be 90mm and your body. Amazing lens with great detail, contrast and super sharp. I have used mine for a lot of portrait work as well as micro (macro in the Canon world). I think you can pick these up for a reasonable price. PLUS it has the nano coating which is a bonus for glare etc At least try it next time in the camera shop

Hmm.. I would take everything he says with a pinch of salt. Is it for a DX and FX body? Just out of curiosity what do you want to shoot with it? I had the popular Tokina 11-16 2.8 for a while (obviously not referring to your needs), great glass for the money. Tokina make some great lenses and some shockers!

Just out of curiosity, why? Both shops offer fantastic customer service and the same product. Just one is based in Europe and the other in Australia.

Great pics! Captured the ride well! From a photographers point of view: Wide Angle / Fisheye lenses get a little tiresome after a while. Slam a 50mm on there or longer now and again
