I think it goes two ways really: firstly without the modern frame designs i.e no seats etc, the riding standard of trials wouldn't be as high as it is now. There is no way people are gonna be sidehopping 50" plus on a short wheelbase bike with a seat blocking maximum compression over a bike for example. These huge moves being displayed immediatly generates interest to the average person as they wouldn't think it was physically possible to manoeuvre a bike up such large obstacles. On the other hand though people can look at bikes with no seats and automatically think it is stupid and walk away with no insight into what trials is all about. Either way I don't think frame designs are making trials less accessible to the public.... Dan.

Looks promising, it is nice to see a 'normal/old school' frame design and presuming geometry being produced again, let alone with a material like titanium. I personally think titanium is the way forward with trials frame's now, however the cost of it will throw people off due to there being many trials companies offering frames at such competitive prices. However if it iniatially doesn't have the purpose of selling to the public it doesn't matter as it is good for company's to play around with the different materials available to them. Good luck with it Dan.

Well said There is nothing wrong with people introducing themselves, especially when it is polite and grammatically good i.e not text talk. Anyway welcome to the forum Damian, stick to the guidelines and don't post nonsense and you should have access to the rest of the forum quickly Dan.

Onza Hognesium pedals are purely weight saving pedals for competition riding, I remember using a set of these and if I hit the pedal hard on the wall the magnesium would literally tear off the pedal and their would be chunks of it on the wall, being as magnesium is a soft material. I wouldn't cast that as a fault or problem with the pedal though, like I said these pedals are not designed for heavy abuse, and are made for competition (or riders that do not sidehop to pedal or bash their pedals around) as they are really light. This is the first time I have heard of the pedal falling off the axle though... Dan.

That video had a good flow to it, with the relaxed tune and controlled riding. Not a good idea to let go of the handlebars at the end though was it Great video Dan.

Sure, no problem , will be on tomorrow morning as I only have broadband at work and the cd with it on is at home. Same here, except scattered accross many cd's. I uploaded pretty much all the 'trials-punks' (Tim Stedman, Matt Burrows and some other Worcester rider's) video's in here if anyone wants them.... Dan.

This is the video with James Porter and Ben Rowlands. I am not sure why the filename is different as I have not changed it.... This video was on the internet about 2 years before get1 dvd. So it is not related to it Dan.

I refered to trialzone as it was literally a magazine which you would download I agree with Onzaboymark though, the way section 7 worked before was great, If it is constantly updated I think it would work better then a literal magazine which can be downloaded as news/interviews etc can be put up instantly as opposed to a magazine approach where it would need numerous articles to fill it up which could take time. Dan.

I remember a while back this idea was put forward and 'Trialszone' online magazine was made, however it was not organized properly/rushed and was well and truly messed up with the subscription system as people were sending it to each other on msn thus the end of the magazine and only 1 issue was made. I do agree though, an online trials magazine would work as long as it is well thaught out, planned and organised. I certainly would like to see one released, however how long it would last would be a different subject as it would go two ways; will be praised or heavily criticised on this forum which may wreck motivation from the creator of it like 'Trialszone' proved..... That is what needs to happen , someone to just get out their and do it however keep it low key so their is no huge expectations of it which will give it the chance to easily be criticised from the word go. Dan.

I had a koxx rim in my Base The brake can be a little tricky to set up but its possible, however I doubt you will get fresh pads in their being as you won't get the magura cylinders out far enough, I was running half worn Koxx brown pads and it only just worked. Also the other problem with running the Koxx rim was that the wheel has to be perfectly true all the time, if it buckles the slightest bit the tyre would rub on the frame (I was running a 2.5 Michelin hot s). Hope that is of some help Dan.

Well said Adam Also 'profile' my reply was based on the topic question that he is looking for a 'feel' he needs for a sidehop, which is why I suggested that he learn's from two wheels for the reason I said in my post. I was not saying that sidehops from two wheels is how to sidehop (although is a perfectly good way). If he was after a guide on how to sidehop I would list instructions similar to what you posted as I sidehop from back wheel myself If you read the post properly though he is after the feeling of a sidehop, not a guide and the way I suggested in my post is what I think will help you get the feeling of a sidehop, If you dont agree with my opinion then fair enough, it is only an opinion anyway but I found it helped me out on sidehops in actually executing the right motion of it, the rest comes with practice. For the record though, like Adam said it doesn't matter what technique you use, there is nothing wrong with them and do what ever you are most comfortable with Dan.

Avid express pro or media software will cost about £3,760 plus hardware and software add ons you would need to get full use from the software and a extremly powerful PC as I have a friend who uses this software at work. Avid liquid 7 is a fantastic piece of kit for the money..... As you have said Windows movie maker is more then suitable, it has basic transitions and effects and is simple and incredibly easy to use, however the WMV file can sometimes be a pain on some computers, although can easily be converted to MPEG. A lot of people do use Adobe premiere of some sort and it has more then enough needed to create a trials video and again, is simple to use. Dan.

Pere Pi introduced the first 'trials' specific bikes Link from Monty website which obviously led to the huge growth of trials in Spain and worldwide. Dan.

Agree here, I think if you learn to sidehop from two wheels you have to actually physically jump upwards and sideways, when learning to go from backwheel your front wheel will already be higher then the wall and it is so easy just to go straight to the front wheel without any explosive upwards motion which will be of no benefit to you when you start to sidehop higher. So my advice would be to learn from two wheels Dan.

Megamo Equip's were such a cool bike, I remember watching Marc Caisso at a bike show a few years ago and he was riding one. The stem looks rather long though, I know they did come with mod stems as a standard spec, but that stem just looks way too long Dan.

Is Portland Bill the place with the lighthouse on it? If so I have been there, I also rode a quarry/building site which was behind Tim's (who ran x-street) house which was pretty good, might be the place in the riding picture's above Dan.

Link and it would have to be a magura bleeding kit as shown on that FAQ topic Dan.
-
Might be a good idea to invest in some shin pads
-
I also noticed comparing it to the magazine I have, the first two paragraphs about America starting Bicycle trials is missing...... Spanish propaganda, trying to take all the glory for inventing the sport
-
I was reading a magazine article out of a spanish trials magazine earlier about the history of biketrial and how it all started, after searching on google found a website on it.... Link Is quite an interesting read Dan.

I think Martyn Ashton or Danny Holroyd did 18 foot to sand or something stupid like that....... Dan.
