  1. Right so i've got my birthday coming up in about 3 weeks, and haven't got around to making a decision about what to do. Most people's 18ths are usually go for a meal, then go to clubs, or have a black tie do in a hall, but i fancy doing something a bit different. My first idea was paintballing, but my girlfriend and other friends won't want to go. Gay. Then i thought go-karting, but everywhere round here only takes a minimum booking of so many people, and it'd cost loads. Does anyone have any ideas for something to do that's a bit different to normal 18th's?? Any ideas will be great (aslong as they're not illegal or anything )
  2. Some huge riding in there, most of those rocks just look massive. Didn't really like the music, so just turned it down. Did he take 2 bikes out that day? And it looks like his camera dies at the end? Bike's looking pretty nice
  3. What they said really. I'm no expert with spraying, but being as i did my own frame i thought i'd comment on what i did. Do make sure you spend time on it. Make sure to sand your frame down, you don't have to go down to the metal, it's just to roughen the surface so the paint sticks better, but make sure you sand all areas evenly. When i did my frame i rushed this and some areas are a bit too rough. start with like p120, then work your way up. Clean your frame from any paint/dust and you're ready to start spraying. I think it also helps to have some heat on your frame to also help the paint stick (but i did do mine when it was like freezing so used a portable heater thing). Definately use primer, and depending on what colour you're spraying will effect what colour primer to use. Lightly sand between coats of primer to help build up layers. I used a 500ml can of primer which gave me about 4 coats i think. For spray, i got some paint that was a bit more pearlescent mixed for me at Halfords and put into a 'holts' can i think it is, which is very good and accurate for spraying. Quite expensive as you'd need 2 cans, but i got it cheaper as i work there. I probably ended up doing about 7 coats of paint, and to finish it off about 3 coats of laquer. Just take your time and do not rush it and it'll come out good
  4. Good stuff Wally. I can't believe how small most of that stuff looks And my new camera doesn't work that well with that fish eye which is annoying. I thought the song went well, with some smooooooth riding
  5. I'll be coming, hopefully entering later on tonight. Gonna try and do as many rounds as possible this year. Dudwood's a great venue, so i hope they'll be alot of people. Should be coming with a friend or two, and will try to see if they might enter. Really looking forward to it
  6. Mateeeee. Got back at 5 this morning, and got up at about 3 Koxx Days was awesome!!!!!!! Definately going next year, and will know what to take next time. Probably some warmer/more waterproof clothes? I knew i had been riding alot as each night all my muscles were aching. Saturday was mint as it didn't rain, but still managed to ride in the wet on the other days as far as my brakes allowed. Still can't believe how mad the elite sections are, and that the rain didn't seem to effect them at all I keep remembering all the funny things that happened. When Joe Baxter said to that waitress 'can you sit on my face? sit on my face' hahaha. Porter driving a bit too quick with too many people in the back of his van and too much rain. scary. then after the meal him skidding to a stop and me and bessel jumping over that fence to get all those wood logs. Then that local coming so we had to run. Chai kept going on about the pasta party downstairs? and how he wanted to go lol. I tried to high five the toll lady but she didn't have any of it and i think just swore at me in french. All the explosions on the fire...(I got videos on us walking away when the frenchie just sat there and that can went off and he just fell back off his chair. Then another of him running towards the fire when there was a gas cannister in there and us screaming at him). Oh and Adam shouting 'you're such a rock' when he came off was random. Phil throwing the cone at that drunk was hilarious, and a good shot! I was then thinking who's gonna hit the drunk first to make him f**k off. And when i was leaving my tent and i just heard that french guy hit the floor, and went over with everyone on the floor laughing and him with sand in his face lolssssss. Good stuff! Really enjoyed it Anyone up for Buthiers in the summer?!?!??? EDIT - Was good to meet and ride with everyone, and thanks to anyone who helped with general things
  7. QUOTE (hugh_b @ Mar 23 2008, 10:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>looks swish dude, not seen you in agggggggges, i'll come say hi at koxx days! I think the last time i saw you was when we went to Sheringham. Must of been a year ago lol. Will see you at Koxx Days then! Thought you would of had a bike by now, get it sorted! I couldn't find anywhere that sold A1 stickers, so i brought these and just didn't put the 'A2' sticker on
  8. I snapped my hub about 6 weeks ago, so had it sent off to Hope where they put a new shell on and returned it really quickly. I thought i'd take my bike apart to service and tighten it all up, and then while doing so decided to spray my frame....... Took me ages to choose the right colour at work, and ended up getting some mixed up which was a bit pearlescent (sp). Brought some A2 stickers to put on aswell. The only thing i'm not very happy with is that i think i used too harsh/rough glass paper, and should of started on something lighter as in areas it's not that smooth, but overall i'm quite pleased with how it come out. Better than black i think anyway Let me know what you think Oh and if you see this bike at Koxx Days for those who are going, make sure to say hi
  9. 661 Raji's are meant to be really good Joe. I think most 661 gloves are good, but i'm using some Airflow's and they're quite thin/flexible so can hardly feel them. I don't even know i've got them on when i go riding Is this with Koxx Days coming up??
  10. Joe joe joe. Don't really like 20" but that is one hell of a nice bike. Like really really nice. Looks so nice in orange with white rims. You'll have to see the colour of my bike when i can be bothered to post it up Me and Benny will have to come down to have a go on it From a 26, to a 24 to a 20 haha. I bet it rides well nice. See you at Koxx Days!!
  11. Got my bike built back up the other day so i'll be coming, along wiith Ben as normal and Benny will be making an appearance! I hope the Sheringham lot will be coming...? Are the cool things in the centre of the city still there? See you all there.
  12. Some people in this thread have got much different jobs to what i expected the average person to have. I'm in my last year of Sixth Form, studying for my A2s. Only a few months to go now!! I work part time for Halfords on a Saturday and Tuesday afternoon/evening after school. I want to get into Architecture, as i have always loved desiging and planning, and have developed an interest in housing over the last few years. I've applied for Uni, and have got 4 conditional offers back for Architectural Technology I'm still not really sure whether i want to go to Uni, as i feel that i've had enough of education. Ideally i would like an apprenticeship because i would like to start earning some money, and i feel that it would be much more valuable for me. I'm gonna start writing a letter tonight to send off to Architect's practices about an apprenticeship. I have spoken to 3 practices before via letter and phone, but all have basically said that Uni is the best way to get into Architecture Has anyone got any advice on how i should structure my letter, what i should include etc.? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  13. You do love your light bikes don't you? That is mad light! Looks really nice and tidy
  14. Me and a friend are hoping to go there tomorrow, as we've been told that you can just turn up without notice. Also, has anyone got a contact number for either as i don't want to travel milesss, only to get kicked off. So yeah if anyone's up for it message back here, or give me a text on 07957654390
  15. Me and Wally shall be leaving early Friday morning, so should hopefully be there by around lunch. Does anyone know where you reserve a place for camping? How much does it cost if you have to pay...? We're planning on leaving Monday morning, when is everyone else thinking of heading back? For those concerned with what your car needs to carry when driving over there, i am aware that you need: - GB sticker or GB Euroflag number plate - Headlight adaptors - Warning triangle - High visibility jacket - Spare bulbs Just over 7 weeks now!!!!!
  16. Loved that Joe. You can still tap and gap well good, just manual inbetween to make it smooooooth. You really do suit that bike. The next better be longer... And i hope you're going to Koxx Days Are you gay Joe?
  17. Sundayyyyyyyyyyy. Was thinking of coming up for some natural then anyway
  18. Me and Wally are going!!! Took me half an hour to persuade my parents to let me have 2 days off school though. We'll be there on friday 28th, and then leaving on the sunday or monday, when everyone else goes i guess. Does anyone know the exact address of buthiers? So do you just turn up with your tent, or do you have to book it?
  19. Really looking forward to this already I wish there was a round sooner! Planning on doing ALL rounds this year. Are you going to do a 2 day event weekend thingyyy again?
  20. You suit that bike a treat!! Some nice moves in there. Looking forward to the next one. Will have to come down to yours when i've got a weekend free
  21. No sorry, hardly had my camera out. Going on holiday on Monday so gotta spend time the missus before i go. But...i need to pick my sister up from Uni so that could be an excuse to go riding...? Haven't rode since Norwich 2 weeks ago
  22. Hardly get the camera out, so thought i'd take some pics the other day. Firstly these pics weren't taken in Norwich, just some surge i did from the slope. Andy static up to rail... Then gapped from one to another. Gap from wall on right, pic was taken a bit late. Shaun tap. Shaun snapped Ryan's 600 year old chain, so Ryan was on Shaun's bike for a bit. Andy up to front, managed to switch it. Random shot of Adrian. I like how he's in focus and the rest is blurry, so thought i'd try it with some others. Andy going up to backwheel. Andy hooking i think.
  23. Truly awesome! I love videos like that. The whole cinematography for that was amazing. I really liked the 'transitions' and merges from one discipline to another, perfectly done. I really liked how alot of the footage was captured in motion. Deffinately a keeper! Thanks for sharing
  24. That rim was f**ked. There was one part of the rim where there were 3 dents next to each other which resulted in one massive dent. The rim was like folded there. There were 2 splits in the rim. Nobody! would buy it in the condition it was. It would only get binned so you might as well have a bit of a laugh trying to destroy it. What rim have you brought now Alex? Echo 07?
  25. Yoooo. Bit late in, but just saying that me and ben (and maybe another ben) will be there tomorrow. Train station 11 o'clock
