haha i have been riding since i just turned 15 and im now 21 and im rubbish. i had a year out just because i got so fed up with chasing people and trying to improve. i have just started back up again just for fun this time but im worse than ever looking back at the old get3large video when james porter was riding his curtis when he was like 15 ish, he was still better then i am now at 21 with 6 years experience so yeh, best advice i can say is just enjoy it and don't push yourself to hard if your only doing it to improve.
  7. haha best to just go one moneysupermarket or sites like them, they look over all insures! i just bought and insured my car for £360 in total
  8. it was to wet for my liking! im heading down there with a mate on tuesday if anyone fancys coming down
  9. this is my first ride for like a year
  10. maybe, i have a sorta working bike.
  11. sorted and working again on water. only problem is my tpa totally fell apart so i have to make one from scratch now. what i did in the end was get a large drill bit and wrapped wire wool around, carefully took it inside the cylinder and piston. put alot of oil in the cylinder and put it back together. good as new, apart from the tpa of course.
  12. 2nd trials bike! first was a saracen x-ile with mostly the same componets! i bought it when they first started selling the black giants, i think it was 2003 or 2004! loved that bike!
  13. do what i just did, drill your hand!! tried drilling out a bolt in my frame, drill bit broke and ended drilling my hand! whoop
  14. cheers for that, ill give it a go tomorrow! wheres the best place to go for replacement seals? is it just a job of going to a plumbing merchant and buying some that fit or would i need special magura ones, cheers
  15. nope, it still does it when there is no lever on the body. its the piston inside the lever that gets stuck, it returns back to normal but can take up to a minuet to do so which means when its on my bike the wheel will get locked for ages when it happened to you did you try bleeding it with oil afterwards? also would putting a bit of grease on the piston help or would it mess up the piston, and cause it to leak?
  16. hey i have just been trying to sort out my old magura on me bike, its the old style hs33 basically the master cylinder in the lever keeps getting stuck, i striped the whole lever down and cleaned out all the grime and tried it again but still the same result. it was last bleed with water using the bath lol, it has also been sat on my bike not used for around a year, perhaps it froze in the winter and has mucked up. would it help if i got it bleed with oil with the proper bleed kit? or is it likely that the master cylinder is non usable? any help would be appricated (sp) thank you
  17. get stronger I find longer forks better for me with a high front end! will feel a lot different from the gu for obvious reasons. just get used to it
  18. yo ive just got back into trials after having about two years out. just played about on my bike and most the basics are still there. tbo though i picked it back up cause i wanted to have fun with it again. i wouldnt worry about how you "rubbish" you may look. there are many riders who never really even picked up trials to quickly who ive met on rides. but they show up cause they enjoy it. im sure it will come back after awhile, also just start with the basics again like balance etc. balance seems to be the only thing i havant been able to pick back up again quickly, lol.
  19. bringing up a we reminded about this ride, was hoping to get a few people along to it! its not just going to be me and sam is it
  20. gutted, i wont be back in the portsmouth area till sunday! however after that im free to ride portsmouth area and other places all summer time to dust me bike off,
  21. land on your feet not your head. where a helmet, bones get fixed heads get brain damage. improvise in all situations. know when to let go of your bike! i dont think there has been any major injuries eg life threatening, (correct me if im wrong) un like in other extream mountain biking.
  22. haha when the red magura pads where the best brake pads for a magura!
  23. haha im not as old school in trials as some of the people here. i started when the top brands were brisa and koxxs. there were no others really. my first "trials" bike was a saracen xcile, d521's elgato tyres, some bars i found in halfords. at the time it was amazing. old school was also trying to do a gap at the same time as a gap, haha i still however ride a leeson so i havant really gone.... new school?
  24. i agree with this chap, i was speaking to my economics lecturer about a similar topics on energy. basically why should they change what they sell if its making them such a big profit, because oils are such a important product to everything we use i think the oil company's can do what they like. i also think if any one found an alternative to any thing oil based, e.g .petrol that would work on a mass produced level that they would end up with a someone on their doorstep with a blank check and a pen. it makes sense to me. i think there may also be already be alternatives but like like i said before that they have already been bought out by big oil companies, also just because something hasn't come out in the news doesn't mean that it hasn't happened, im sure there is loads of stuff that the government and media are hiding from the public. this however is only a theory which i believe might be true, in my opinion. who knows, we might all be f**ked still! haha
