I'm sorry, did i just read someone arguing you can have more fun on a scooter down the twistys then you can in a car?

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

Yes definatly 1000% in my mind. I drive a 1.4 brand spanking new fiesta, which is plently fast enough. And a 100cc Speedy.....

My cars gone up to 115 downhill

My scooters done 65ish on the flat

Would i prefer to be feeling my back wheel sliding out getting the bike down watching the floor wizz straight past my head.. ... or sit in a massive box, with airbags and about a million saftey functions to keep me safe.... theres just no question..... when i came off the roundabout in my car i was just sitting there thinking... "f**k this is going to be expensive" when i ever come off my bike your thinking, "theres a cerb there.... thats going to hurt.... shit.... thats...."... "yep ok that hurts that hurts a lot" and only costs like 20quid to fix usually

Scooter everytime... just insured my motorbike though... so goodbye twist and go ease! i know im going to miss how simple it is! lol

Get an older car that doesn't do all the driving for you then :P

No... cos they dont handle as well at all.... driven a few old school cars and wasnt too much fun... apart from the rear wheel drive bmw lol

you wont change my mind.... hard cornering braking and accelerating is more fun on a motorbike or scooter... FACT

An old mini or Polo GT or something, so much fun!

What old school cars have you driven? on a local twisty road I've seen off a 56 plate civic (type s I think) driving my mates 998 mini. He'd batter us on the straights, but come the corners we were gone. Ever been around a roundabout in a mk2 golf on coilovers? Basicaly anything old, light, and with a half decent suspension setup will be a hell of alot of fun.

Anyway, back on topic, I do think its pretty dangerous always being at 30, it is essensial to be able to accelerate out of some situations, so I'd say take up the garages offer of sorting it after you've done a few miles (Y)

When I say old school car I don't mean a 1 litre Nova on standard springs and biscuit wheels, I mean a car like a mk3 Polo GT, lowered about 40mm.

You don't get much more fun than that!

Obviously supercars etc... but I'm talking realistic everyday stuff you could actually afford on peanuts.

I can't believe your actually trying to genuinely argue that scooters are better down the country lanes.

I'll remember that next time someone goes to buy a car for the twisties and be like 'actually, scooters are better, why not get one of them?'.

Yeah, 'cause everyone else does that.

No offence, scooters are shit, you only get a scooter because that's all you can get, once sane people can progress onto something not a scooter, they do.

I'm actually in awe that people are defending scooters for other then a stepping stone to something good.

As for the 'knee down with the road wizzing past your head' comment, or what ever it was, its a fooking scooter, not a superbike.

Video

Think I'd rather a scooter to a car.

But thats like putting a video of a jet crash up and comparing it to a car crash...

Hell, if a scooter crashed like that the person would be dead also, if not 100x more likely to be fatal on a scooter.

Can't believe you've actually tried to say scooters are safer than cars? >_<

I haven't tried to say Scooters are safe than cars, jeb. I'd rather be on a scooter and crash than be in a car, I personally couldn't live with myself knowing I'd killed or crushed someone because of my wreckless love for speed. I'd rather come off and injure myself than ruining somebody elses life, and lets be fair, a scooter is alot more agile in split second judgements. Obviously your going to disagree which to be honest I couldn't care less, because your always going on about your blindly in love with your Civic, but I've done all Scooter, Motorbike and Cars. I'd prefer to have a quick scooter over a car. Simpson knows where its at, he drives aswell and has a few Scooters.

I can't really understand your description of putting a jet crash up against a car crash? Is the car in this case a scooter and that video of the car a jet or....?

old cars handle better and are faster old golf gti faster than new golf gti, escort rs turbo faster than focus rs, and escort cossie faster than an evo.

you don't know what handling is in a new car because you never get a chance to really use it power steering, traction control all kick in before you get to really feel how a car handles and hard braking and accelerating are boring where as going into a tight wide corner in my car flick it in i can get a little bit of lift off oversteer or i can use the handbrake to kick it out then try and stop myself from flying into a tree or a field

you said you had fun in a rwd beemer then you should really try an old escort then you'll see what oversteer is.

and if you crash into a wall at the same speed you're 80% more likely to die on a bike than in a car

I've never once said i'm blindly in love with my Civic? There is a thousand better cars, but there is no way on hell its any less fun or worse then a scooter, no car is.

And if you'd rather be on a scooter then a car because of the impact to others, then you really, really are stupid, sorry (you decided to start throwing personal stuff in, so i thought, why the hell not too?), but that is the most stupendous reason i've ever heard. Don't try and be a hero, any one of us would much rather be in a car then be on a bike in an accident, no one is that selfless, and i 100% doubt you'd go and buy a scooter because if you crash you may not hurt others.

Anyway, as Mike as pointed out, its turning into a Mac debate so i'm out, enjoy your scooter.

Ask Matt... hes been in my car down country roads and i don't think i was being a pussy... (obiously without being stupid) Motorbikes are a lot better than cars for fun value on country roads... i know my 100cc scooter will easily out perform my 125 motorbike. Its just great fun... stop trying to put a dampener on everything im saying... i think ive given enough reasons why its more fun... guess you wouldn't know unless you try it... and would do anything for 2 wheels over 4

What old school cars have you driven?

Not a lot and all right shitters... im not gonna try an bullshit

Ive driven a clapped out mini

a Fiesta 1.25s

and a old micra.....

Maybe its just me... i get off to motorbike and scooters.... lovit... love the speed on your face, the ripple of your clothes, the sound when you miss something closey and speed, overtaking, getting cold, no waiting arround..... I LOVIT really don't care what anyone says! lol im not gonna do anything to fit in or anything lol

you've clearly never been in a mini, 60 round a bend is way more fun than on a scooter plus it's not like you can try and get you're knee down or that and 60 is flat out on a big bike you can go round the bend at 60 then go up to 170 + if you're brave enough.

I don't belive that you got 110 out of a 50cc either with a 70cc big bore and a few other mods my honda would do 45 how much difference is 15cc going to make definatly not 65mph

also out running just about every car from the lights lmao 50's accelerate fairly slowly they'll get away until about 15 mph then the car has traction and is gone

scooters suck bigger bikes and good handling cars are where it's at.

you whatttttttt!

Mate has a mini, yeah it is good fun i will give you that, but i sooooo prefer my bike! More involving through the turns and whatnot, its sooo much better it really is!

is that aimed at me? and have you even been on a bike in the twisties before?

well not really, go on something like a go-kart track and the 50 will have the car AND the bike easy! and guaranteed you will have more fun.

I can't believe your actually trying to genuinely argue that scooters are better down the country lanes.

Errr have you had a scooter?

If not then please shhhhhhhhhhh because youre just plain biased.

If yes then fair play to you, but you must not like getting involved in stuff to think a scooter is shite in the twisties!

I admit, my RS is nothing special, but blimey its more fun than any car ive been in. Its thinking that youre properly having it through a corner, with just a few cm2 of tyre touching the floor whereas in a car its got four nice big fat wheels!

Play tourist trophy, be on a TZR125 and race an R6 on the motorland track, you will instantly see what i mean about smaller bikes being the shiz-nit.

alext, You are quite right,

Take this from some one how know's. Get your scoot de-restricted it will make it safer for when in a 30mph zone, most car drivers will want to overtake a scoot no matter what speed the scoot is doing and by having it de-restricted alows you (the rider) not to be bullied into the kerb, but also remember cars like pulling out on scoots more so when the scoot has 'L' plates being displayed and this is mainley due to car drivers attitudes most car drivers assume scoots are slow ( I know different ). So for this reason still stick to the speed limits. And all you gotta hope is when your going down your country lanes at 45-50 on your scoot that you dont meet some tosser coming the other way in a clapped out car coming sideways towards you, because you know that your gonna come off worst and the car driver didnt even think of this senario in the first place. Happy biking.
