Does it affect me ? No.The major thing that REALLY pisses me off is when i light one up on a ride and people start giving you right evil looks or start saying "why you smoking, it's gonna kill you". Omfg. Dickhead listen, its not you thats smoking its me, so stop giving me lectures, i know all this.The dirty looks one pisses me off the most. I just think, don't look at me like that, if you've got a problem with something im doing come and tell me, don't just stand there looking like i've just killed your family. I also get the odd snidy comment "Smokings bad for your riding" LOL. The majority of people that say it too me are of a lower level of riding than me.My health is fine. Let me deal with my life. You deal with yours. If i thought smoking was effecting my riding. I would stop. But it hasn't affected me yet so why should i bother stopping. I enjoy a fag.Rant over. tartan pixie Posted January 26, 2008 Report Share Posted January 26, 2008 There's a couple of guys who smoke outside a hospital where i work, they are both in their 70's i think (it's hard to tell with hardened Glasgow drinkers) and sit in their wheelchairs wiggling their amputated stump legs while sharing a joke with anyone that passes. They are two of the happiest people i've ever met.While sharing a cigarette with these guys one of them pointed to a man who has alzheimer's and said "Poor f***er, he's so fit he'll have to live with that for years"I don't advocate smoking and would like to quit before i have children but think the terms 'good/bad for you' are more subjective than people recognise. Maybe if you didn't smoke, you could sidehop an inch higher and gap half a foot bigger. no one knows.But then i guess you are an amazing rider so its ok. Never tried it, it's been proven to damage your health, but I'm not doing it so I don't see why I should have a chip on my shoulder.Oh my Grandma caught pneumonia, that was definately smoking related, and she is shagged out now, she's on steroids to combat what the fags have done to her throat and lungs.I'm never going to smoke because of this reason, I don't drink heavy either, I do drink quite a lot, but never enough to get past tipsy, otherwise it makes me feel sick.
