When i first saw this 'BIG RIDE' thing i thought - yeeer... But now, after going on a reasonable sized ride the other day, its just a joke. It was waaay crowded, everybody was getting pissed off with each other for getting in their way, and these weren't small places we were riding either.

Not a good idea IMO.

Edit: WTF i voted no and it says 100% yes. Like the man says, make it bristol, theres no way a trials park will keep loads of people occupied all day.

Big rides only work in places like Bristol where there's enough variety to keep everyone amused without massive groups splitting off all the time.

To be honest, the larger Bristol rides usually end up with a few groups of riders heading off on their own.

As I said in the other thread, if you want to sort out a ride that's bigger than a normal large group ride, a public place where we shouldn't really ride in the first place isn't the best idea, and just won't work.

Some specific, dedicated event/location with a lot of planning is the only way to get this to work to any extent

you obviously werent on the frankly rediculously sized ride in bristol a couple of years ago .... kept pretty together the whole day + the most trials riders at lloyds ever ... skaters all went home ... possibly a roadtrip ride ?

What was everyone like in the other spots? Thinking mainly centre and such, Lloyds is a bit more out the way, possibly Castle Park or something might be alright dependant on public traffic.

I reckon if we could find somewhere relatively central, and properly organise something (location, get stuff in to ride etc) then it could kick off, but would require a bit of work...
