i recently reinstalled windows after getting a virus (waits the abuse for watching porn) but i installed the os onto a hidden partition which was only 3gb not an issue. The problem i have is that the other partition is still full of data so i was wondering can i just delete all the data off it or will this course problems.

Also can i copy program files from one program file folder on one partition to the other program files folder because i have some software which i no longer have on disk which i would rather not lose i no its a long shot and probably wont work but just wondered if it might.

Thanks

joe

with your first point, do you mean you have (for instance)

Partition A: Windows

Partition B: Data

if so, do you know that your data is infected? If so, then you can clear that partition with no worries about losing windows or anything.

For the second point, no, unless you have a backup of your registry as well... in which case you could take the bits and pieces into your clean registry and hope you dont take anything infected across. Other than that it's a case of aqcuiring the programs again.

i think i may be wrong by using the term parition i have one hard drive but one section is 3gb and has the new install of windows on it and the other section is 70gb and has all the old data on it such as program files from the old install of windows. Hope that cleared things up and about the second point i dont have a back up of the registry so looks like il be buying new software bummer.

thanks for your help.

i think you are right to use partition by the sound of it, in my computer does it look like it has 2 hard drives when you only actually have one? Then you've got partitions (Y) In which case what i said before should be about right.
