Maxxis were the tyre of choice, but now continental are bringing out some REALLY good tyres that walk all over maxxis!

if you want to save weight, get the rubber queen.

If you want the ultimate grip and puncture protection, wait for the rain king or De Krauser, they are stupidly good!

The Rubber Queen is bigger than a front tread Minion, and it just about fits in my Kot MS2 frame. Rubs when the frame flexes over.

These are supposed to be fantastic though. Linky.

single ply though...so no real use to most of us :(

Any decent tyres, dual ply, same or better grip than maxxis, lighter than maxxis for around £20?

Ive found some but he real issue always seems to be either the compund being too hard or th sidewalls being too thin, thus giving tonnes of punctures...

A good tyre for the the front though is the specialised 2bliss....big profile, mid compound, a lot lighter than a high roller......

Hi Ali,

is the rain king or kaiser bigger than the rubber queen? because wider tyres don't fit in my echo pure08

Michelin Mountain A.T.! I've been running this tyre (along with a Hutchinson Air light front Tyre - just 550g!) for little over a month on both Street and Natural. This tyre offer's alot of grip on all obstacles, especially, I've found with Sidehops and Taps. It also weighs just 999g which is an added bonus! With it being dual ply, it also combats against pinch flats. I haven't had a puncture yet. They're available here!. Adam@TheMontyShop is a nice guy, he'll probs throw in some tar and stickers! You'll get your order next day too. Hope this helps :)

It's a very thick ply for a single ply though. It's like 1.5ply.
