First Bike

That's the one. They dropped the T because they no longer felt the need to reinforce the fact Onza is a trials brand.

Sorry what? I heard the T-Pro is the older model, with a seat. The Pro is the 2009 model, with no seat.

It's a fair bit better than a rip or blade.

I'm pretty sure you mean better than the Rip or BIRD, not BLADE.

Aye, the Blade reference threw me :P

Well it turns out by the time I get that bike and try it out and send it back, I won't be able to get my money back, and from the pics it seems there's a hole in the frame, a crack or split or whatevs, I dunno, but some sort of gaping void which shouldn't be there :P

My mate, cousin actually, who is a specialist in a bike shop AND did trials for two years says a Bird is good to learn on, it's what his friend had too. It seems I'm just gonna have to splurge it on a Bird then :P

Yeah I wouldn't take the Rip simply because it has that 20" back wheel. Go for the bird (Y)

What's the difference between a 20" and a 19" back wheel?

Think of it like having two front tires, one in front and on at the back. If you compare the pictures of the Rip with another 19" wheel, you can see that the 19" looks way stronger, with a fatter tire.

Was too slow to edit it, but now I'm looking at a T-Vee, dead cheap, is it gonna be alright to learn on? And do bike with " 20" wheels " come with 20" front and 19" back or 20" both, or is it not a hard and fast rule for that one?

Well I have a T-vee, and I think it's too heavy. It has got front and back '20 wheels which makes it a little harder to learn on. I got mine for £80, for that price it is realy worth it. But if you do have the money go for the bird which is the next one up, it will make it a little easier to learn on :)

If you are getting a first trials bike, the better you get the easier it is to learn on! Also if you think you will keep riding for a fair while it is worth spending the money now so you don't have to spend it later, don't follow the false economy!

Yah, I've actually given up on rushing into this and getting a bike asap, that way I now know a lot more about bikes before I get one, and I will actually probably end up getting a better bike than if I got the first one that took my fancy.

It's worth saving up for a good bike then, so you learn more in the waiting period, and get a better bike, and it'll last longer before you need to start changing bits.

I've been on ebay for a few days now, perusing bikes, and they're selling just over my range, but its definately helped on the whole learning front. As my birthday's just gone, I'll be able to put some "birthday money" towards it, and then put my own money towards it, and be able to theoretically double the money I'm willing to spend. Sooo I'll probably end up getting a new Onza Bird 09 model or something. But first I have to go on holiday for a week before I can return to my bike browsing...still impatient about getting a bike, but still, will mean there's a new selection available on ebay to look at :P

I'm wanting to buy a bike to begin with, and from looking round here, it seems a T-pro or Bird is best to begin with, but they're a bit out of my price range. I've messed around on a basic halfords mountain bike but we all know halfords bikes are rubbish bikes :P

I'm looking for a bike up to about £250, £300 at a push, with a seat and preferably gears. I'm not too comfortable buying second hand either, 'cause I'd like to be able to complain if it's faulty.

The best I've found is the following, but I'm sure it's not gonna be the best, or there's something wrong with it.

I don't really have a tremendous amount of knowledge about the little things on bikes, so any help is appreciated. Thanks :)

Hi, I have a T-Pro For sale, in very good condition, with amazing brakes, and little use. It is an 07, and im selling it because i need money to fund a trip to Canada. You Could have it for 250, or 225 if you respond quickly (due to needing a quick sale) Thanks. Jack.

I wouldnt be so worried about having a trials bike with a seat. 90% of trials bikes with seats on are too low or small to sit on anyway. Theres no way you'll want to ride around on it anyway, because as some one mentioned earlier the gearing is way way too low for riding about.

It's not so much for riding about on as...getting to the places to ride. Make sense? It's only my first bike to see if I take to it seriously rather than something I'm gonna start fine tuning to my body immediately. Just a casual investment like :P I say that, £300 is a bit iffy seeing as I was looking to spend £200 in the first place :P
