Disk Brakes

I actually prefer a Magura on the front but because of the modulation from my front disk, and it being so quiet... It's better for getting around without hurting everyones ears, and I think it's better for riders who like to ride a bit of natural as well as street.

I used a V on the front for the first 10 years of riding, and always said it was better than any disc you could throw at me!

Of course a few weeks ago I changed to a front disc, and I can happily say I wuoldn't go back. It might not be as light as a V, but it certainly works alot better, and didn't need any setting up!

It depends on your bike too.

Most people with Mods will use discs front and back.

Most Stock riders use a front disc and a back V-brake or maggie.

Discs on the front are helpful for just going from point to point. But on the back of the bike they are simply too easy to ruin by hitting against something. wrecking a $5 chain tensioner is something ruining a $60 disc is something else...
