jeff costello
hi, could i take a standard bash ring for a ffw crank and mount it on the bottom bracket instead? like one of those aren't freewheels and bottom brackets both bsa and hence the same size of thread? this would mean the bash would fit between bb cup and frame too? (i know the chainline will shift a bit, but i'm not too concerned with that) background: i use a bmx crank in the front. i have 25t sprocket with a bash on right now, but i might want to go down to an 18t sprocket. i do have the sprocket, but there isn't a bashring for that size available anywhere. running the chain without a bash freaks me out. if someone could measure the inside diameter of one of those bashs, that would be very helpful as well. thanks. Mark W
You can do that, yeah - ideally you'd need to pick a fairly thin bashring though just to make sure you get a good amount of thread contact between your BB and frame.
Ross McArthur
You can also use a spacer where your old bash would have been if you find you have chain line issues.
