Seems like a bloody good deal :-

just check for rust because once they start they really get going :-  my first mini turned into a right rust bucket

Yup check the wings and the footwells. My friend found two rather large holes after he'd bought it (Y)

Pete

oh and the rest of it sounds gd, that price for that reg mini is pretty gd

what about the rest of the plan, stupid buying it and having it lying in garage or wait till i pass my test

Nah it's a good idea (Y) and if your really loaded you could start paying insurance on it so by the time you've got your licence your insurance will be a bit cheaper :-

You can also do a years worth of modifcations to it :-"

Technically Im loaded but I cant touch the money as its in a isa.

Im gonna have a look for quotes, I work for sainsburys so I get 15% off insurnce did it for my brother too.

My brother is fully comp so does that meanhe can drive the mini if i bought it.

As if ot if its not insured i have t keep it in a garage as up the drive i can be done. Im not sure.

Oh and whats bubble rust.

I got a 1982 Mini 998cc and insured it for £562 for proper road driving (not classic ornament)

I'm only 18 and live in Belfast, Northern Ireland. A rough idea of other quotes I had were:

93 1.2 Corsa, 5 door and bottom of the range. 3rd party F&T was £2600.

Mini is the way to go mate, but be prepared to get mucky as they good need regular maintaince.

Smaller engine might be better, but i want a mini for the insurance quotes.

Anyone think im rushing into buying a car speak now.

It would fit ingarage nicely and i can still store all the crap already in the garage in there aswell.

im realy tempted now as i have the money to hand.

Gonna make a trip to post office to willy up a form, also whats the form called now for a provisional

I say go for it now, mini's are getting increasingly harder to find and more expensive by the day (at least they are here).

I would probably go for the 1275 if i was you, I will be very soon as insurance isnt going to be all that much dearer when I asked.

998cc's can be modified fairly well to give some surprising performance if thats what you after.

Dude how old are you? 1.3 is going to be a bit interesting on insurance aint it? Im going for a 1.1 lol (Y)"

James (Y)

Iv'e been quoted £1500 a year for a 1.6i 306, when I'm 17, no no-claims, just passed test!

Mmmm Mini's, I've got a 1.3i BRG mini mayfair that may be up for grabs soon? (Y)

Mike you'll be lethal on the roads. Tests can take ages i waited quite a while to get a test at Loughton , Passed first time which was pretty lucky seeing as it would of been at least 4 months before i could of got a test again at Loughton.

I think you'd do better to get your liscence then buy a car. Also i know you can pick up decent minis like that all day long up here. I was going to buy one for the mrs a while back but went against the idea in the end.

But thats just my opion.
