Well, About a 3 weeks I was setting my brake up and all of a sudden the bolt went loose, I took the bolt out Including all the threads.I got my frame helicoiled and it was fine for a quite a long period of time..But now sadly it's happend again. So I was wondering can I get it helicoiled again or will I need to do the worst and purchase a New frame?

Thanks In Advance

dont do it up so tight, use thread-lok instead

Which will really help with clamping your brake into place (N)

Get some needle nose pliers, bend the first part of the existing helicoil and simply slide it out. If your helicoils messed up and the thread in the frame is still fine you can just screw another helicoil in.

The 'wire thread insert' insert must be fitted at least 1/2 thread pitch below the surface of each end of the tapped hole, if fitted correctly it shouldn't come out.

if you need to get them out, either use the correct extraction tool like an arrow head shape tool, or just grip with pliers and rotate backwards like undoing a bolt, dont be tempted to just pull it out as this will damage the tapped hole.

A new one will just screw straight in, just position it right.

WIRE THREAD INSERTS are always quoted as the finished length e.g. m5 x 1.5d = 7.5mm of thread when installed in the tapped hole.

If the insert is too long, you could cut the oppersite end to the installation tang(back of the coil) make sure there are no burrs.

Do not use 'thread lock' as you will lose the mechanical advantage gained by using wireinserts.

Ask wti fasteners for help or advise.
