Heya People, I currently have a Spec1 Onza T-Rex, but im looking into upgrading it, so what can i do?

Any help would be great!

But I only have about £100 at the moment.

:D Cheers :D

Aha I remember putting up this exact thread once.

Firstly you need new Cranks, the ones on it are a pile of piss. Go for a set of 22t middleburns, second hand around £35 - £40.

Secondly Go singlespeed at some point - shouldn't be too costly, keep the derailer jsut get a cog and some spacers, I reccomend 22:18

New pedals would be handly - I killed the vp's in not long atall.

A new chain.

All that should come in at under £100 if your cost effective.

Such a nice frame the old T-Rex, I've got one and its cains the likes of my mates Toxin 2.

Hope this is useful. Phil

is it a standard spec one. Nothing added not even some decent pads.

If so new pads probably a booster. Maybe some new bars. Or try and save a little more and get a pro2.

Nahhh. Bars arent an issue. Its the drivetrain he should be looking out for.

New pads is a good call though, alternatively tar it up.

Booster isn't 100% necersarry at first but for the record Echo 4 bolts suit the bike well.

maybe just save the money and replace bits as they break/wear out...theres nothing worse than spending all your money and then have somthing else break and not be able to afford to fix it.

Good point.

But to be fair bad stuff might happen. For example before I upgraded my Spec 1.

When I tried to gap and the casette snapped.

Tried to gap and the stem snapped off midair.

Chain snappage - very normal but shouldnt have snapped when it did.

Spending 3 weeks riding with the front cog rubbing on my frame because the whole crank bent falling to bash.

Guess thats some explanation to why I said the parts I did.

that is exactly what i'd do or if your confident enough then upgrade it and hope you have the cash to fix it when something gives way! or upgade your cranks to echo or summet like that! (second hand) then youwill have money spare :)
