No big deal - he's sitting in the airport on his way to Hong Kong. I have some insight into the conversations that the UCI have had with the Olympic committee, one criticism they have is that not enough women compete. They want to see sporting activity that attracts both sexes. Not my opinion or comment, but its true, very few women compete, but boxing gets by. Trials would be a worthy addition, many niche sports are included now, I think its time that Trials was. Fred Savage - in support.

Chris, (and others) you need to look at the post in news for mod and stock geo. Fred.
-
Back in July,(see above), I hinted in that I was considering a promotion offering owners of double disc Mod frames a discount on a ZHI/Bionic if the owner found themselves “out of warranty”. The idea attracted a favourable response, the American importer is trying it, so, here goes; Got a broken double disc? Not covered by warranty? I will offer a £50 discount off of a new frame normally retailing for £275. It will apply to original owners only, frame plus proof of purchase required. Fred.

Joe, that’s an impertinent and personal remark, commenting on a situation that you know nothing about. You obviously have not been to a U.K. national to see how the arrangement works. Quote Onzaboymark; Now, you see, the thing is - I've heard that before, yet I've seen from experiences of my friends and experiences from people on here that certain distros will go to great lengths to back out of their warranties. Even remember hearing one company tell a rider that he'd apparently sand-blasted his dropouts (Despite him having to ask on here what sand-blasting was after being told he'd allegedly sand-blasted his dropouts, 'cos he literally had no idea what it was...), causing them to fail wink3.gif Mark, honouring product warranty only becomes “uncomfortable” when a given product is unreliable. If a U.K. “distro” suffers a high failure rate they will start to wriggle, as replacing like for like will eventually get them deeper in the proverbial. I have already stated what my policy is here and in NEWS, and I stand by that. I also hinted in NEWS that I was considering a promotion offering owners of double disc Mod frames a discount on a ZHI/Bionic if the owner found themselves “out of warranty” for some strange reason. So, let’s do that. It will apply to original owners only, proof of purchase required, plus the broken frame. I will offer a £50 discount off a frame that will retail for £275. Fred.

If I supported the riders in question I suppose they may share your point of view – but I don’t, you need to check your facts before posting. That aside you have totally missed my point, which is; There is no need to spend a figure approaching £500, (or more), to own a reliable, competitive frame. My response was to comments made prior to my post and should not be read in isolation, as often happens on the forum.

First off, if your after reliable info with whats happening with ZHI (the company that is, and not a forum user that uses the brand name for his id), check out the posts in news. The photographs published here may well be of a pre production model and as such a poor reflection of the finished item. ZHI frames have so far proved reliable, to back that up, I as the importer offer a good warranty of six months then a half price replacement period. So far in 2008 a ZHI frame has won every Elite national competition held in the U.K. - a 100% record, what more can you ask from a sub £300 pound product? Mark's post has some if's and but's in it, (Cheap frames are all well and good, but if they're not particularly strong), time has already proved that although ZHI frames are good value, they are strong In the event of failure due to a manufacturing fault it will be replaced.

Further photographs posted in NEWS.

Quite the reverse. The frame shown was under development long before the introduction of Rulong. Those at ZHI are not a group of faceless individuals cashing in on the Trials scene, they are successful riders, well known on the competitive circuit, you only have to look at some of the events pictured on the web site to see how involved they actually are. I expect a good turn out of ZHI riders at the Japanese BIU round, I hope to get some 1st riding impressions when the Brits arrive.

Just climbed out of the van from Belgium......... Feedback has been left. Mark, along with any other eBay user, were entitled to bid and win - well done to him for getting a bargain. With the shop working the way it does we often put single items up for auction to attract visitors to the core listings, the "joggers" have done their job. Watch out for other bargains in the future. Fred.

Good news from the UCI youth games in Germany. Sam Oliver has made the podium by taking 3rd place. Sam was hampered by a puncture on his lest section - resulting in a 5. Without that bit of bad luck his position would have been higher. In the excitement I forgot to ask if Sam rode his 20" Magellan or his ZHI Z2, as its possible to pick your wheel size on the day. Any case, warm congratulation to Sam on his 1st visit to the International podium, I am sure it won't be his last. Fred. (put this in news if you want).

As I said above ^^^^ The events are out there, why not help each other to attend? Fred.

Tim, Great thought provoking post and fine replies………. It appears that some have commented without ever having been to a comp and have built up a negative view of what they may find there! For me this post has raised so many issues that I may have to reply in stages. I have had a great deal of experience in laying out comps, from club to World level – you won’t find many people who have been responsible for the sections at both a BIU and a UCI World championship. I and the team I work with always have the interests of the competitors at heart – we want you to have a good time, I hope most do. New comers are never a focus for ridicule, if you wish to attend one of our competitions for the 1st time let us know, we can put you with fellow riders that can help you out. If they can’t I will – I’ve done a bit of minding. If you enter and can’t make it on the day, your cheque is not cashed. With regard to comp location Ref. open land or city based, it comes down to a number of considerations, mainly; COST – ADMIN – RED TAPE. You would not believe how much more time consuming and expensive it is to run our comp at Blackpool compared to one held on a green field site. Earlier in 08 Tykes ran an indoor charity event in Skipton, the building rental alone cost £1500, and it’s a lot of money to find. If anyone out there has access to a novel venue and can arrange for obstacles to be delivered on site but needs an organisation to administer to entries and proved insurance – contact the Biketrial Federation and we will do the rest. All that said entries are suffering, the YMSA has gone and some organisations comps struggle to attract more than 20 entries. We are constantly looking at ways to make economies, improve communication and at the same time provide better events, it’s not easy. We are all faced with increased travel expenses. To help in the future we plan to build an area into our web site where prospective riders may team up to share costs, this could double as a place where newcomers or those without transport could network with fellow riders. Our final national event in Shipley has good transport links and offers two days riding. If you have not competed before, make contact and ask for whatever advice you may need. You can be assured that those involved in the organisation will have done their best to provide with an enjoyable weekend. More points covered soon……………… Fred Savage

When comparing ZHI frames to others it’s important to remember that the spy shots are of pre production models in their raw state. The finish on the B3 shown gives a better indication of what the finished item will look like.
-
Yao will not publish the final geo's until the frames are released. It may be some time before we see the finished item, but its interesting to watch them evolve. I hope the current prices will be maintained. Bionics are currently £175, the most expensive ZHI frame is the Z1 at £295, so at this time nothing over 300.

Sam and his brother Tom are Trialsman/NSE supported riders. As such they are not tied to one brand. Other riders include; James Hyland Patt Donovan Dave Kerr Tom Astbury Chris Vibert Robbie Peacock Fred.

We have reactivated our eBay shop. In the past it carried mainly clearance items, but the intention is to add to it gradually to include a wider range of current items. You can find it here; Trialsmanshop

No problem at all, pleased you have seen them! Thanks for your post. Fred.

Thanks for the info Dave........................ Just measured a Z1 with Echo control fitted = 1085. Sorry for slow info, I have been pushing the factory to tidy up on spec statements, plus spent a lot of time working on Sundays national. Fred. PS Andee; Let me know your thoughts on them.
-
Rather than put them straight on here I sent them to Vaughn to put on OTN, I was interested to see how long it took for them to arrive here. In addition Yao sent me these today;
-
I will make sure your on the entry list Patt, I'm waiting to see how your getting on with the new frame. Fred.
-
Point well made Jake. I have been asked to make a comparison, can't do that without access to both products in question. As tart said, the geo will not out of the ordinary, it will be acceptable, its the price thats exceptional. I will post the dims as soon as Yao gets back to me. Fred.
