  1. If your getting a rim thats the same (or very nearly) on both the ERD, the spoke offset and the number of spoke holes then changing a rim is easy and you don't need to take the wheel apart. Put the rim ontop of the wheel with the valve holes lined up and tape it to the wheel. Undo each nipple (if your not keeping the old rim then you can undo it all the way in one go rather than working your way round) then take the nipple off and move the spoke from the old rim to the new one, keeping the other end of the spoke in the hub. Work your way right the way round the rim and hey presto, a built wheel. Then all you need to do it tighten and true it.
  2. If the wheel spins and is not overly slowed down by a dragging pad, and the brake works, then I wouldn't worry about it. How thick are the spacers you are using though? You should be looking to make fine adjustments with .25mm shims
  3. To me it sounds like you just havnt aligned the caliper quite right. I would suggest you space the caliper out in the direction of the piston that is touching the disc first If you also have a bent rotor (which you would be able to tell if you spin the wheel and it moves more/less freely in one place) you can straighten out the bend by using an adjustable spanner and gently bending the rotor until you take out the bend. Best to bend slowly/gently and keep checking rather than bending it hard (phnar phnar) and screwing up the rotor more. But try and get the caliper aligned right first, because if its only a slight bend thats just touching the rotor and doesnt affect performance too much its porbably not worth screwing with. It may also be that you have one piston that moves more slowly than the other, as muel said it would be worth cleaning it off (I would also use a cotton bud to put some dot fluid around the piston before you push it back in just to moisten the seal a bit). If this doesnt work then you may have a piston with scratch/gouges on it, which would rub against the seal as you press the lever, stopping the piston moving over the seal easily. This takes a fair bit more buggering about to sort, but its only likely to be the problem if someone has been really f**king around in the caliper with the piston extended and scratched it up. Bear in mind though, the pads often rub against the disc a bit, and according to the manual, this is normal, providing it doesnt slow the wheel down much when it spins.
  4. its kind of down to how you feel at the moment, are you crampt up? do you feel over exentended? Are you tall? are you short? Are you running a short stem or a long? Are you running riser bars or not? Are you running many stem stackers or none? At the end of the day you will need to experiment, but you might find it most handy to give a trials shop a call and talk them through your ride and how you feel about it.
  5. The burner hoodies cool, shame the chains on the left of the bike and the chainring on the right.
  6. I would like to know that its done right from scratch rather than counting turns, because it would get fudged somewhere, either by miss counting or by not getting the nipples in the right place again. Plus if they are different length nipples it wont be properly tensioned anyway. On a side note I personaly wouldn't take advice off someone who takes money off people and doesnt send shit out.
  7. I would say replace them one by one, but do not do them up to the same number of turns, but leave them loose and build the wheel from there. This way you can be more sure that the tension on each spoke is the same. This is going to be particularly important if the nipples are different lengths, because the same amount of turns will not bring the flange of the nipple into the rim as far if the nipple is longer. I would do each nipple up just enough so that it covers all the thread on the spoke; gives you roughly the same start point with each nipple.
  8. I would probably keep having to explain who he was man, although I do like the idea of KISS, even though at first i thought you were telling me not to over complicate things!
  9. the credit card idea is cool, not really feeling the painting yourself like wood idea, and a chris king outfit would be waaaayyy to expensive!
  10. so I could either sit there doing nothing representing the K hole or be a complete arsehole to everyone. sounds like fun! though I do like the easy way out that the 70s cop offers!
  11. I want to really, but its the potential of seriously pissing some people off and ruining someone's 30th. I have also been suggested Clark Kent or a Calvin Klein Model - and just go in my pants.
  12. I was going to say that being dressed up in a cardboard box might seriously damage my chances of pulling. To be fair though, no more than if I'm dressed as Jesus or a member of the clan. Although drunken chat-up lines might be fun.
  13. So the options are the KKK, Christ or the KFC man. I think the KFC man is out because I don't think it'd be cheap to sort. so Christ or the KKK. any other ideas?
  14. The kit Kat choc bar sounds cool, but how to dress up like it? and I think I would spend the night explaining who Kit Cat was. that is actually quite tempting. Only thing is I don't really know her friends that well, so it might be risking a slap.
  15. Hey all, going to a friends fancy dress b'day next week friday, the theme of the night is "K" or "C" (for Kerry). Originally the plan was to go as Elvis (tha king!), but after finding out that it'll cost me £40 plus £50 deposit (which I will no way get back) I thought f**k it. Soooo, unless you lot can come up with something CHEAP and COOL, I'll be wrapping up in a white sheet (or maybe towel as its chuffing cold) and going as Caesar. So, can the combined genius of tf come up with anything better?
  16. rotor and turntable spinning in the same direction?
  17. Jesus they're porn!! (Hope you don't mind me putting the pic in here!)
  18. These. Although it seems they only have union jack seats now.
  19. I'm running a ck hd so getting the wheel tight on the dropout wouldn't be an issue. Neither would warrenty, as the frames second hand anyway. After hearing everyone opinions I ended up just geting a hanger. For the sake of a £7 part it seems pointless not, plus the frames not quite ready to be built up yet; I still need to find myself a hope headset as my old frames integrated one won't fit. Thanks for the advice all!
  20. swap your jockey wheels for some KCNC Jockey wheels.
  21. The frame has arrived and is sitting waiting to be put together in my room, so as I am the impatient f**k that I am, I recon I'll just get a hanger off tarty! Cheers for the advice guys, appreciate it!!
  22. HEY FO' don't go knocking Michaela Strachan! Any child of the 80s knows that she was hot back in the day!
