  1. dont sweat it, unless you eat loads your not going to put on much muscle mass. most of it will be burnt for energy/repair of muscle cells. also, you should be able to see what your bodies doing on a week by week/month by month basis. even with noob gains, your going to be struggling to put on more than 2lb of muscle in a month. so even if you do end up sticking that kind of size on, its not going to be the end of the world.
  2. depends on size really, protein intake looks a bit low... im currently eating like 3000+ calories a day and losing weight pretty quick, but thats the benefit of being a bit b*****d, 4000 calories a day is about the going rate for me normally.
  3. as promised... this now just leaves mr monkey, and as predicted i look tiny.
  4. the other point of course is, calories are energy in how much heat theyd give off if burnt(i believe) and doesnt take into account things like if you eat 800 calories worth of protein, (talking chicken/tuna etc not protein shakes) youll burn over 200 calories just digesting it.
  5. 1lb a week should be easy, Ill stick pics of me up tomorrow, once ive charged the camera up(my phone is fecked, no camera, although i may have a new phone tomorrow),always think i look small in photos though.

Yea, see I spent 4 months largely ignoring her after the break up, just going out, meeting girls, having the odd date then moving on. then kinda realised on nye, she was one of the coolest girls i knew, so started making some effort,kinda flirting, arranging to meet up, then suddenly she gets a new fella(we were both seeing other people, he just suprised her with a holiday, but wanted a relationship). since then weve stayed good mates chat every day, but its doing 2 things: 1) messing with my head a little bit. 2) making the people im texting/seeing now, seem complete and utter bores.
  9. Feel like a dick for posting this.. as generally i think ive got everything sussed. But im all of a sudden getting really down over the fact my ex has moved on, guess part of it is the fact we talk whenever shes having a shit day, and thats happened even for the month shes been in a relationship, but now she's not turning to me. I got with a girl last saturday(by chance), I was meant to be going for a meal with a girl i went out with before christmas tonight, but bailed because I feel like crap. I've sat in, and the whole night stuff keeps reminding me of my ex, and even though the fact I could go and sleep with something tidy tomorrow night I just don't want to. edit: just typed that out, and were still texting, happened to send a text whilst writing this out. invited me for a night out tonight as friends, im actually considering going despite the fact ive got to drive back at 6am for work.

  11. may as well get as big as you can because no matter what you think when you lose the fat, youll lose some muscle. think i stuck it up here before, but after getting body fat measured about 10 days ago im now 6 lbs lighter. feel a little leaner, but crucially the figures came out that if i dropped 2 stone of fat, id still be obese on bmi, but have like 8-8.5% body fat. given that was 12% of body fat for 28lbs, im not 3% down on body fat so ive lost some muscle. not to mention if your on a calorie deficit your not really going to be gaining any muscle, only strength and also its burning calories, so no real reason to restrict yourself at all to a certain number of sets/reps. Last night joe fassied out the gym so i went for a cardio session, but got bored so ended up hitting weights. did 3 sets of 10 on compound exercises for the major muscle groups. (so squat,incline dumbell press, lat pull downs, leg press, bench press, seated rows) then just added another tricep extensions and bicep curls on the end. doing that 3 times a week, as a full body workoutyour never going to get huge, but its going to improve strength.It isnt going to hit anything too hard to impede cardio(the day after a dedicated legs day, you aint getting me on no treadmill). Currently sat at 6 foot 3, 17 stone 8(down from a super fat 18 stone 5). At this build, thin would be 16 stone 10 or below I reckon.

  14. this is what i was about to say, realistically speaking, the only way to get over her is to move on. doesnt mean banging anything in sight. but you do have to just kinda let stuff go, and do what shes doing(i.e get close to people again). I broke up with my ex last august...which i both regret and deserve, i regret not treating her better, and deserved to be kicked to the curb. but the trouble was, it was all to easy to go back there if ever i needed some. and i think if she had given me an ultimatum, id of manned up and treated her right(although the fact that i needed an ultimatum speaks volumes). was only on new years eve i kinda realised she was probably one of the 5 soundest girls i knew. that i suddenly started to put in some proper effort into speaking to her again, shes now moved on with a new fella, and its kinda awkward, were still close, but we both know if he wasnt on the scene, we'd be closer, but he is, so were not. and falling into the friend zone is kinda awkward, because in the 11 months we were seeing each other, i dont think we ever spent more than about 5 hours together, without having sex. so the whole friendship thing is going to be awkward. but it comes down to, whats done is done, no point in moping about it, there is plenty more awesome girls out there, and you wont find them by sitting there looking miserable.

  17. most accurate way is underwater weighing,but i dont know anywhere that does it, part from places like medical facilities at universities etc, 7 point skinfold measurements are accurate, but only as accurate as the person doing them. trouble with conducitivity based machines(like you used) sweaty hands/dehydration can skew the readings a good 5/6%
  18. gym buddies? getting yourself out there? dare i say it, online dating? i know we have totally different aims in life/outlooks on life(Although we also share the common hobby of gettin drunk). I signed up to an online dating site before xmas, as at the time me and the ex wernt speaking, and no one was going out, so no chance of meeting someone new. since then ive slept with 3 girls off there, and im a fat twat(granted i think ive got good patter, but you got to get them to meet you first) and could've probably slept with loads more/play people. (due to a bit of rabbit warmer a few months back, i now pretty much go "im kev, i want to have a laugh, maybe get laid, i dont want to change my relationship status on facebook or hold hands in the park"
  19. but when your first starting out, total body workouts 3 times a week arent to be sniffed at either. especially if your young and recover fast. hence the reason stuff like rippetoe and milk and squats work so well. totally agree on the compound thing though.
  20. protein, heavy weights, compound exercises, and only staring at the fit birds in spandex for motivation, and not to waste the rest of your workout perving.
  21. pretty much this... I cant believe your telling someone that protein isnt the way forward but creatine is, £ for lb, protein(in food or supplement form) is the best supplement an average joe can take(part from steroids of course, but meh). Granted you can get enough protein from food, but crucially people dont have the time or the money to do that. for example im curretly circa 250lbs, circa 18-19% body fat, no matter what macro/formula you use, that ends up being 150-250g of protein per day, lets say for arguments sake 200g, if I want 150g of easily edible/preparable protein(bare in mind you can only absorb 30g per sitting) and i dont have access to a fridge whilst on the move at work, so that leaves 50g in my evening meal. 150g of real food protein which i can eat in 5 minutes, runs me about £9 at tescos(either buying ready cooked chicken or no drain tuna). alternatively it can cost me £1.30 in protein powder. Now i only use protein for a breakfast replacement, and occasionally when im running super busy(mainly because i can afford to buy cooked chicken etc. to say youve worked with top nutritionists and body builders for years, your 22?!?!?! not calling bullsh*t just yet, but to tell everyone on here there idiots and start preaching your pm only advice. seems a lil bit suckerish.
  22. goggles, if your looking for on the cheap, either register with KGB deals(like groupon) and get the £39 oakleys(choice of 11 styles or summit) if thats still running. even cheaper, but nearly as good my current goggle of choice like £15,doesnt matter if they get scratched(some russsian woman basically ruined mine last year with a wayward ski pole, id of been pissed if they were oakleys), lens in them are really good for the money, easily kicks the arse out of £40/£50 bolle/trespass offerings. Gloves, depends what you want, I ran some tog 24 offerings that cost me £20 for a few years. theres a company selling animal gunnar gloves for £18 on ebay, which are a bit of a steal. but ive recently switched to some kinco 901's which cost me like £15 off ebay usa, and there the best thing ever, if you dont mind your hands looking like something out of ice road truckers.
