  1. there is no reason not to take both. or a reason to take either. Ive never really got on with creatine, I often think its more of a placebo than anything else. protein shakes arent really necessary, but they often are due to time commitments. if you can be bothered cooking turkey for breakfast, id take 200g of turkey breast over a protein shake every time, but truth of the matter is, shakes are just a quick, easy, convenient, cheap way of getting protein in you. the reason the stuff is so popular is basically that, making that one quick change of adding a shake a day, makes a noticeable difference to your training. so if your eating the right amount of calories per day, and just growing very slowly, eating 3 square normal meals a day, suddenly adding a 4th "meal" in a protein shake is upping your calories and your protein, so you start seeing results quicker. I have a shake in the morning to start my day, its basically my breakfast substitute, its an extremely poor substitute for breakfast, but given the fact i leave the house at 6:15, and wont stop for a break till about 9:30, its about my only chance to get protein in that time and there is no way im going to be cooking steak and sweet potato at 6:00 in the morning. if your choosing one, choose protein, but its a supplement, its there to supplement a healthy diet which shouldnt be far off being right in the first place. but im preaching what i sure as hell dont practice, I've got an awful diet for most of the time.
  2. ive got the issue of TBM with that cr500 in it, the amount of effort that went into that bike was unreal.
  3. yea i read about it, then realised i eat plenty of other crap. supposedly anymore than 3 tins a week puts you at risk, but ive slammed 15+ cans a week before for like a month solid, and im still here, as are plenty of people who eat the stuff by the boatload. thats rather a large breakfast. im counting 75g of fat and 1300 calories in that breakfast at a rough guess. in fact im counting more grams of fat than protein. which in my opinion isnt ideal.
  4. God only created science to weed out those who dont really believe in him.
  5. surely diluting it right down in the sewerage system, same as old engine oil, right?
  6. erm certain amount of support points, dont know how many.
  7. once you get an m224 mortar, it seems to be a case of permanent win on rush, you just sit back, behind something solid, and mortar crap in.
  8. sorry when it gets to this stage,I like to mention a little issue. just because you can beat most of the forum up(not up for debate, you probably could, infact before I typed this I checked the distance from my house to scunthorpe to make sure it wasnt feasible for you to come and beat me up, dont worry dann, I also checked the distance to sheffield, chances are he aint going to make that journey either) does that make you a better person? or give you the right to win arguments? last time i checked it didn't so why does changing a verbal argument to a fight seem like a sensible suggestion.
  9. yea, but given that scotland isnt known for its good snow record(or bad snow record if your a none skiier) to see photos like that in late october are quite shocking. for comparison, andorra, well up from the height of the village(which is ski in ski out) middle of a slope, and this is the current picture of the weather.
  10. unfortunately round here, its the one day of the year the freaks find it acceptable to come out in force. half of them are just in dress, but to them its not fancyy, and the other half dont need a mask to be scary.
  11. that should be fairly easy, given that you live in scotland.
  12. ive never done scotland, drove out to yad moss a couple of times. keep saying im going to do scotland, but it always seem like a mission for relatively crowded slopes etc. really want to do 2 weeks in canada this season, but meh, who knows.
  13. I hate you so much, got new skis sat here, got new bindings in the post, sorting out boots next weekend i think, but still no holiday booked, I hate that you can just go hike up a hill and ski down. whereas i have a 5 hour drive or a 2 hour flight.
  14. depends, if your going zero carbs, yea, your going to be low on energy, (although a high protein low carb diet is often used for losing fat, youll struggle to build muscle and lose fat at the same time). but if your still getting the correct number of calories a day, but have swapped out 6 slices of bread, for 2 slices of bread with tuna mayo on them(heavy on the tuna, light on the mayo) and then a protein shake later in the day, then things will be hugely beneficial.
  15. honestly, I dont really regret anything ive ever done, but i regret plenty of crap i aint done (be it not taking a chance with a girl, not pursuing job oppurtunities, not trying crap on motorbike/bike/skis etc) of all the daft, stupid, morally wrong, illegal crap i have done, none of its turned out to bad,and ive learned stuff from it all. one of the worst experiences of my life, was spending 6 months on bail for a crime i didnt commit. Technically it only happened because I was a dick. but I still dont even regret that, it kind of showed how little some people mean to you, and how others mean the world. And also, when sh*t goes sour, and you dont have too much to lose, you appreciate stuff a lot more. Only bad thing from this, is its kinda ruined any chance of me going to the us. Im 23, if that makes any difference.
  16. surely your body metabolises everything you eat, all it is is digesting it and using it for energy/cell repair, etc. as for the bit about 6 reps, its bollox, total bollox. I got my 1rm deadlift up to about 350-360lbs probably 12 months ago, and then couldnt go any further, was doing like 3 sets of 8, or 12, 10, 8 etc. It's only in this last year, ive started going at it, doing like 1 warm up set of 220lbs x 10, 350 x 6, 400 x 4, 450 x 2, 400 x 4. or just throwin in one warm up set, straight to 450 x 2, then working 1 rep maximums. that has took me from 350 to 470 in 12 months. also, tone doesnt really exist, its a combination of muscle size, water retention and bodyfat levels.
  17. just be careful with the tuna intake, people reckon any more than 3 tins a week and mercury poisoning could be an issue, i know before now ive been battering through 15 tins a week, and im not dead, but yea. when you say weights, what where you doing with it?? with regards to getting bigger, your never going to be arnie without gym equipment, but get working on sh*t like chin ups, press ups, pistol squats etc. once you can bust out 15 press ups, increase the angle. if your going for size, dont want to be hitting too many reps. if you can hit a gym, its a total different ball game, keep the chin ups, but throw in regular squats, deadlifts, and bench press. bent over rows, overhead press of some sort, and your laughing. As for food,if you struggle to put weight on, eat everything you can do,making sure protein is high, if your trying to get lean, keep the protein high, and cut back on carbs and fats. for getting proper lean, i dont know, I've never managed soon as my body gets below 14.5-15 stone,(Depending on how quick ive got to that weight and what muscle ive lost) it just shuts down, i start getting ill, feeling like crap, strength goes through the floor, and i pile it back on pretty quick. Currently sat at 230lbs, deadlifting 470, benching 220, and squatting not a lot (due to my gym being fell of idiots, who appear to of put the squat rack into storage, and put a bunch of cardio machines in its place, whilst their redoing part of the place. Trouble is, although you can make noticeable changes, your body is the way it is, and it takes a mammoth task to overcome it (i.e a skinny guy can get bigger, and a big set guy can get bigger and leaner, but to get to really big, or really lean is a total different ball game) and its always the same, all the real skinny people wish they could burn fewer calories so they could put on size, all the bigger guys wish they could burn more calories, so they could shrink the waist.
  18. Adams maid, cook, cleaner significant other.
  19. did i mention im going to edinburgh uni too soon. actually, pics. then ill tell you where im going to uni.
  20. Yea, I understand what your saying, and no disrespect to anyone doing the degree. But the way ive always seen maths is, if you can remember the formula you can do it. and i've got a freakily good memory (i.e I think nothing of remembering reg numbers, mobile phone numbers, pretty complex wiring diagrams, 12 digit part numbers etc,all without trying to remember them). And I'd quite happily do a bit more than some basic reading on the subject, its just always been that I dont fancy loads of projects/the like, I really dont work well, unless im under pressure. what I'd want degree wise, im not really sure, I guess its the fact that without going back to square one, I'm never going to advance much further in my industry than I already am. but if i was to switch to another industry (for example going onto oil rigs as a diesel engineer/diesel fitter) if I had an engineering degree proving I had knowledge/the ability to learn past being a master technician in a garage, then i'd have much more chance of moving further up the ladder. not that I intend to leave my current job anytime soon, but never knowing how long a job will last, I wouldnt want to go to a regular garage given the chance.
  21. sorry to thread hijack, but on a similar vein, revolver, when you said exam based, does this mean i could theoretically walk in, sit an exam (or 4) maybe write a 8000 word project, and have a degree/other qualification. only asking, because ive currently got mediocre qualifications if i wanted to move outside my industry (basically i got 12 a-c's at gcse, then went and pissed around at college for a year because i was waiting for a job i wanted, got 2 c's, a d, and an x at as level. and now have level 2,3 and 4 nvq's, and a HNC in vehicle mechanics) I could of obtained higher qualifications, but dont particularly see it getting me any further. I ask about exams, because i generally ace exams(I.e was scoring 95% on final exams, when the next highest pass rate was like 72%) without revising, now I realise at that level i'd have to revise a fair bit, but I honestly reckon with a couple of weeks reading I could pass an A level maths exam or the like(given that my mums got a bunch of past papers ive browsed through before). I'd quite happily sit exams all day, but the main bit putting me off doing say a OU course in engineering, is the assumption that id spend 3 years of my life reading books.
  22. 747L is the standard tax code, there is as such no 50% tax code (if youve only got 1 job, a tax code of d0 or d1 is used if your second income falls entirely into the 40 or 50% tax bracket), but personally id wait to see what you get paid and what you get taxed, and go from there. 747T means youve got the standard tax allowance, but the T denotes youve got outstanding conditions on your code(i.e they havent reviewed all your information/youve got part of the year self employed etc).
  23. dancin... chicks love a guy that can dance.
