  1. I wouldn't have been letting the garage just rush into it all like that... also, a lot of pistons have a sort of cut-out in the top which means when cam belts snap, the pistons don't hit the valves (and bend them), as even if the valve is open, it just sits in the small cut-out in the top of the piston. Don't know about your car though.
  2. I really doubt this but an additive is put into diesel, to stop it gueing up when it's cold. If someones used dodgy diesel that hasn't had the additive it may have blocked your fuel line. Apart from that, all I can think is what has been said, maybe your injectors need a clean out.
  3. I know Dave a bit, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't scam you on anything, hes a really canny lad. All I can suggest is PM, e-mail him, then see what happens from there - if he doesn't respond within about two weeks, I'll catch him on MSN or something.
  4. Haha, yup, i already have but he's bonkers and insists that he go ahead with modifying it
  5. Here is a better photo if anyone wants to give it a go. http://www.bikearea.co.uk/images/CIMG2149.JPG Thanks for the photo prawny baby, really good one
  6. Good job, thanks a lot man!
  7. Cheers buddy EDIT: If it's possible, could anyone have a go at tinting all the windows pitch black too please? Cheers, Josh
  8. Hi all, i have a friend who is possibly going to get his car lowered. He still hasn't decided though, i know there are a lot of people on here that are good at using photoshop and other graphic-y programs, was wondering if anyone could have a go at lowering the car in photoshop for me please? My friend is wanting to lower it by 40mm to give anyone a rough idea of how low it will sit. Any help much appreciated! Josh. EDIT: here's the image: http://www.bikearea.co.uk/images/CIMG2147.JPG
  9. Im highly doubting it, but does anyone know if the standard 6xcd interchanger head units out of the 2001 1.6 16v megane's has fono connections? Just i've got an amp for my new speakers but havn't yet had time to check the standard head unit, and see if i need to buy a new one.... Any help much appreciated!
  10. Thought i might as well add a pic of the pink bin...
  11. Surely if the timing was off the engine would sieze to work? If the timing has went slightly out, how can i fix this, is it a hard job? I recently fitted a new cam belt to it, 99% sure everything was aligned though. Cheers.
  12. Got a mechanical question: I've got a 2001 Renault megane 1.6 16v, i've noticed that when i listen very carefully i can hear a vague ticking noise coming from the engine when its idling. I would think this is the tappets but they're hydraulic so should self-adjust, could the ticking noise be something to do with oil pressure? Any help greatly appreciated!
  13. Well that does sound kinda like it could be that, I'm thinking this because I've noticed recently, when I'm braking it isn't as smooth as it used to be, it like shudders as if the brakes are pressed slightly harder, then softer etc till it comes to a stop. As for some one saying if it was the driveshaft it would make a constant whirring noise, I have actually got the car making a contant noise, although to me it sounds more like the tyres on the road, only starting making that noise when I put the rear wheels on the front and vise vera, for more grip on the tyres. Thanks again.
  14. I've found Sniffhost really bad when it comes to communication. http://www.uk2.net/ I find are quite good
  15. Thanks again for the replies, really helped. What makes you think it could be the brake calliper Will?
  16. Thanks for all the replies. It's kind of hard to explain - I recently replaced the rubber boot on my driver-side cv joint as it had split and grease was coming out, as well as making a slight clicking noise when you turn, it isn't too bad now though, it just clicks very slightly when I've got full lock on and you've got to listen really carefully to actually hear it. Anyway, the clunking noise happens either when you put it into reverse and accelerate quite quickly, or from reverse to first and accelerate quite quickly. Also, the clunking is just one loud clunk, not repeadidly. Again, any more help much appreciated!
  17. For about a week now I've been getting a problem with my car - I loud 'clunking' noise is produced whenever I stick it in reverse and accelerate backwards, the noise happens more so when I've got some lock on the steering. I've been told that it could be my CV joint but due to how much my gear stick moves, I've kinda though it might be something to do with the gearbox linkage, maybe the engine is rocking too much and hitting something in the engine bay? Any one got any ideas what it could be? It's a 2001 Renault Megane 1.6 16v by the way. Any help much appreciated.
  18. There may be a lot of people in cars who don't give the road as much attention as they should but there's also a lot of motorcyclists that don't. If you're willing to ride a bike on the road, yes there is reason to complain about certain road users but it's a risk you're willing to take every time you go out... obviously there's no way of really changing all the drivers out there that don't give the road their full attention so really if you're a biker, the best thing you can do is give the road your full attention, and expect the unexpected. As for the bike meet, I'd be up for it
  19. I passed about 2 months ago, first time, one minor Since ive passed i've done about 5000 miles or near abouts. my fuel bill hasn't been cheap lol
  20. na not yet, its just starting to shrivell up a bit atm... on a more serious note, my stones are aching, and ive read that thats a sign of having gonorrhea! yay

  22. Thanks but it's ok, i know how to do that part, i posted a link to the site earlier in the topic........... i'm just going to go to an alternative one a bit further away, when i've got time.
  23. Grrr, couldn't find a GUM clinic today, well not the one I was looking for, and not one person I asked (of about 5 people) knew where it was... I even asked in the local chemist and they were clueless... I'm gonna try a different one some time soon and hope for the best haha.
  24. Don't think I'd fancy using diesel, or water... Just use what the manufacturer says use, they've most likely spent a lot of money and time into research on it... I'd go for that special magura blood stuff.
