Well we go climbing together, went christmas shopping the other day, spend about 2-3 nights a week together. Pretty much exactly as we have been for months, apart from now we have "special cuddles".

Man me up guys. For ages (9 months or so) my "best friend" has been a lass, love her to bits. Recently we were both single for the first time since we met, and decided to see how things went. It's been around 6 weeks now, and things couldn't be righter. Everyone we know say we should be together by now, and to be honest I agree, but..... I recently split with my ex, who I'm still a bit hung up on I think, (she was "the one", lived together, planned life and all that teenage hormonal bollocks). It's made me very wary of how badly wrong things can go, and how one day the most important person to you can become the most hated. I don't want this to happen with newlass, and it's holding me back popping the question. Motivate me?

Second hand, about £60-70. Depends if it has warranty left and if it's actually been used. Notebook drives will be worth a lot less. The most inflated prices at the moment are 2tb+ internal desktop drives. The ones I was looking at getting were £45, but are now £150+.

460w will be fine for that setup Kev, no sweat. A 460 would be a huge overkill for a HTPC though haha. Errrm, JD, to be honest mate I suggest you buy Kev's. My bundle will build an alright desktop to run XP so my Mum can do her b-weekly Anne Summers shop, but not really up to what you're after.

No time to check Luke, but I have a Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H, couldn't recommend strongly enough. (Or the 990 version if there is one). Stay away from Asus on AMD at the moment, unless you go for the £200+ boards! I had one last year, was wank. The vcore wobble by 0.1v, so when set to 1.55v it was going as high as 1.65v... My chip has shown signs of degrading ever since. JD. May soon have a CPU, motherboard, RAM and GPU bundle I'll be looking to shift. 1.8ghz dual core, 2gb RAM, 256mb 7600GT. Won't be up to anything strenuous but would be alright for general office stuff/browsing. Will be built up and fully tested before sending, as I'm not certain if the board and CPU are actually compatible. (Should be fine, but I like to check). Also never even seen the GPU run yet.

So shit I can't give it away. 2.4ghz Pentium 4 (or something like), 512mb RAM, 40gb HDD. Just chucked it on top of the wardrobe lol.

Yeh that'll do it. I did the same thing with my recent server upgrade. Was planning on changing the motherboard and RAM. Ended up buying an almost complete machine from a guy at work and just building a new server. Now I have two servers, and don't know what to do with the old one...

All sounds way too dodgy with all them adapters and shizz mate... I'd say BIOS update, make sure that the BIOS is still set to use the on-board graphics and not PCI-E, failing that I'd get a new motherboard in. Only thing that's sure to work and would offer a more open upgrade path in future.

Whut? Only thing I can think of is to use a riser/adapter thing, but as you say will screw up the spacing and they don't always work properly. What's the spec of the computer? Might be able to upgrade the motherboard for around the same price and you're sorted then.

Yehhh, seems like an OK community but the site itself is shite. Should have been clearer when I said decent I guess. Seems to be rather a lot of wankers on there to me though...
