  1. It's just that every time I've seen any work done by any of the bike shops round here, it's bodged or been assembles badly. Someone I know got the shop to put their BB in, the did it so tight it snapped all the teeth off my BB tool, that's when it was bolted in really securely, we never did get it out. And a bike someone else I knew bought had stripped crack arm removal threads in both cranks, so when it came to replacing the freewheel I had a right struggle getting the crank off, then found they'd ground the tabs off the freewheel so it would clear the BB, so I had to strip it down and get it off with the vice and a big hammer. And the wheelbuilds... I'd never trust a shop with my own bikes.
  2. Why would he do that? get a shit job done and pay for the privilige? I have never, ever had a shop do work on my bike that I couldn't do better myself. They wouldn't do a freewheel anyway, they'd try and sell him a dicta.
  3. They also almost don't fit in a Kot MS2 frame, I had to trim the side knobbles down on mine, and it still rubs a bit.
  4. He was fine when I sold him a rim, but wasn't there a topic about him a while back?
  5. I havn't got your MSN Mike. I think they might not be properly worn in yet, when I took my last pads off they were concave. I'm just going to leave it for a while, I'll give you a shout if I can't get it sorted, maybe I just need to run a heavier grind, although this one seems heavy enough! Maybe they're just taking longer to wear in than I thought they would, everyone has told me about how good the wear rate is.
  6. What rim is that? I've got an Atomz rim with the harshest grind I could get and I can't get them to work. Maybe they just need to wear in still, but from just looking at them they've worn to the angle of the rim already.
  7. That GU is Josh Greenan's, he changes the frame after he got the Mosterboy from Anzo.
  8. I could do with having it before September aswell, as I doubt I'll have much time to test once I start Uni! Unless it's in the new year sometime.
  9. My Mum did one, it took her 7 years but she was working full time aswell, so it looks really good on her CV. Universities and employers usually really like OU degrees because they are so much more about managing your own work load etc.
  10. The TrialTechs are great, they're like half way between the new Zoo risers and Monty TIs. I'd definately recommend them, I doubt I'll ever use anything different now.
  11. WTF is with that? The flashy shit isn't even in time with the music. How come you put Tarty-Jay on your other clips? Even the sponsered riders aren't called Tarty ________ Ridings getting better though, nicely done.

    Best Bargains

DD Kot MS2, all brand new stuff ridden 3 times for £600. Apart from a couple of scuffs on the levers and one on the fork, it was as new, everything was shiny and straight.
  13. The phones new owner must be beside himself with glee. Not many things are a true waste of space, but shogun gimps really are! I'd pay not to own one. These phones still fetch about £100 on ebay.
  14. I can, he's a legend and he's waaayyy too short to fit on the stock. So it'll have to be the Mod.
  15. Ah sweet. If your stuck for mod riders, I might be up for trying that aswell? I need to sell my Mod though, I'm only riding my Stcok at the moment. Just to check, is it 135mm vertical dropouts?
  16. I've got mine on a 47mm Atomz rim, it's fairly huge! It rubs both sides of my frame when I pedal hard.
  17. So I'm in? Sweeet! Australia/New Zealand is next on the list though, do I have to post it all the way there? That's gonna cost me. EDIT: If so, sorry but I'm out, the DHL website said it would cost £266 to post it to new zealand!! Sorry but I'm just not willing to spend that much to test a frame, If it was upto £35 i'd be up for it.

    Tartydays?

Blackpool? I've never been, but the trials is good enough to hold a competition and theres bound to be places to stay and have a typically shite british night out by the sea side?
  19. You only need to leave like 10mm sticking out of the blocks, as the barbs only about that long.
  20. The ends arn't turned down though like most pull-up bars, does that matter?
  21. First ride with my PhatPads today, at first I really wasn't impressed, no noise, bite or hold, but they appeared to be get better towards the end, I was told they'd need to wear in but didn't relaise the wear rate was so slow! I've got to move them again though, my wheel wasn't fully in the dropouts when I set them up, so when I rode today my back wheel settled in the dropouts, and now one pads rubs and the other is miles away.
  22. I need something that will allow me to do wide grip pull ups though, I'm not a member of a gym as the nearest one is about half an hours walk away, and is really expensive. If it's mild steel it could be beefed up easily enough, and I only weigh 11 stone 12 anyway.
  23. Get a block of wood, drill a 5mm hole through it, cut it in half, then use that to clamp the hose in a vice. Then put a bit of washing up liquid/oil onto the barbed fitting, and hammer it in.
  24. The cracked frame he has now is an XTP2, the new one he's getting is a hydroxx 2, which are supposedly much stronger from what I've heard.
