Because it's easy to put a computer together, and saves a load of money, and you get a better build that suits your needs better. If you can't handle plugging some cables in then IMO running Windows is a waste of time for you, because that's where 90% of the issues I've encountered have stemmed from. You need to have an interest in the hardware to bother running a Linux/Windows PC at all in my opinion.

Nope, I'm running mismatched RAM and have been for years. The type (DDR3, DDR2 etc) has to match, and they have to be capable of running at the same speed, voltage and timings. (1333mhz, 1.65V and 9-9-9-24). It just easier to buy the same brand/model but you don't have to. Everyone should build a computer instead of buying a pre-built one, or buy a Mac IMO.

Well actually it's a long running joke kinda thing. Started out when I was shopping with my girlfriend and she thought I said "Why Hello" in a suggestive manner to the checkout girl, which apparently could have made her uncomfortable so naturally now I do it everywhere we go.

Nope, garbage. If you want a gaming PC you need to learn to build it yourself. If you want to buy something that just works, buy an Xbox.
