  1. im actually tempted/seriously considering trying this on my frame at some point! and i'm holding elliot completely responsible if it goes wrong
  2. safe. midday at the skatepark good with you? cheers sam
  3. if you land on your chain alot then theyre worth it because theyre tough...thetre designed to withstand being ground on by bmx's but...the downside is they stretch more quickly and have a lower breaking strain
  4. if your chain is slack it can 'clang' against the frame
  5. i'm 99% certain the giant frame uses a standard headset so yeah, sounds like you need a new frame! EDIT: sorry, by standard i mean 28.6mm
  6. does anyone know the centre-to-centre distance of the bolts on the brake mounts of the oldschool(ish!) monty 220? (probably not very well worded but you get what i mean?!) i just bought one and wondered if it will fit a 47mm rim? i think it needs the brake mounts to be spaced atleast 100mm apart for a rim this wide to fit comfortably. thanks sam
  7. its all to do with technique, you've just got to practise!! but yeah, for sidehops: preload, then spring upwardds hard as you kick then pull the bike up with your arms and tuck as much as you can
  8. 90% of the full members probably have their email addreses in their profiles, contact them using that!
  9. montys are my favourite mods to ride because they have such perfectly refined geometry, they are really nice bikes, and the 219 is absolutely ideal to start on! go for it i say!!

    Seats

the leeson seat looks immense! its carbon with titanium rails and is apparently realy stupidly light! i really want one! I'll find a link...
  11. ok then, everyone else still up for this sunday?? ...which will be the 25th i might have to work in the morning so if we say meeting at the skatepark to start riding at midday?? we had 6 trials riders last week and it was a good day apart from the wind, so we could make this a big ride if enough people turn up...(obviously!) sam
  12. are you taling about next sunday? because the ride in the first post happened last sunday!! but should be riding again next sunday too, so thats all good any more interest? sam
  13. i have a zoo cnc stem if you want to buy it? it's absolutely immaculate and stupidly strong because it doesnt have any welds! interested?
  14. i reckon 264mm or 262mm for the 26inch wheels if you want 3 cross, maybe 266mm for 4 cross. The DT swiss calculator isnt that acurate, always add about 2mm to the length it gives you!! sam
  15. it snowed for a bit in ipswich today, then it rained, but it's been really windy all day!!!
  16. haha.. yeah, i wasnt too happy with the way he dealt with it...i was going to write to the council but then i realised i shouldnt have been riding on the wall to start with so it was best to just leave it alone! anyway, atleast i was wearing a helmet
  17. no, use the original disc, it's fine, it's awesomely grabby! when it gets worn you can use wirewool to clean it and rough it up so it will last ages too
  18. one time i got a bollocking from a council gardener guy in ipswich for taking a chunk out of a wall with my helmet, i just stacked and whacked my head properly hard on the wall...i could hardly stand up but he was too woried about a little chip out of a brick to check if i was ok
  19. not just that, technique is the most important thing. lower the front wheel slightly then release the brake then crank hard and sort of throw your bike forwards or upwards with you
  20. let the front wheel drop and use body motion to throw the bike where you want it to go if you get me? watch the neil tunnicliffe videos, he does it really well.
  21. i severely doubt it weighs 5kg, thats ridiculous when you consider the monty 221ti weighs 8.71kg and that is stupidly light even for a mod either you cant operate scales or your talking out your arse
  22. anyone else up for sunday? its gonna be a laugh! you know you want to!
  23. just thought i'd put the link in for you http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....showtopic=94586 sam
  24. i used these on a bmx and they were awesomely grippy and felt really good...also they are one of the only cheapish pedals available in white with sealed bearings...buy them!
