  1. I would suggest a hope mono trial for sure, the avid codes are nice too but if ur on a budget the bb7 is also great. As for rotor size, on my 221ti i had a 6 inch rotor and it just never felt like there was enough power, im sure thats because the pads were really old and shitty but somtimes even just pedal kicking the brake would slip out and i would land on my ass. I would much prefer to have way more power then i need on the back then not enough. And besides if u get the 8 inch and think its too much, when you mangle it you can just get a 6 inch. Its the sameprice to buy the brake in 6 or 8 but a 6 inch rotor cost 30 bucks an 8 costs 50 (CAD btw 30 euros for a rotor would be crazy)
  2. Yo man that was a sick video. Like tgs but with lines and style thrown in. Loved the music too top notch. Keep at it man.
  3. looks nice, i would suggest 26's for a change though
  4. man that cop was so baller, i wish the cops were like that here!!
  5. kk yeah u took off my booster the otherday and set up the pads mostly right and rode around the basement and the brakes sound a little louder but not really. I did notice it was a little bittier. I assume the hold will increase aswell as they werent amazing before. Will the brake get louder as i ride it or is this it?
  6. ohh man im so sorry, thats such a weak deal. Specially cuz everything hurts lols. Keep your head up though and do what the docs says youll be back on your feet for next season for sure. And hey help us out round the forum.
  7. man you guys better be so happy that im not a moderator because if i was i would have banned everyone that said get a maggie or vee or so stupid dumb crap like that. Hes asking how he can fix his rear disc clearly he dont wanna go maggie or he would have said help my get ride of my hope and buy a maggie which hes not allowed to do because its the NMC. Damn i love being a git. But seriously, wow you run a magura on your bike and it works, SO??, Hosel runs a rear disc and it works far better then your maggies so shut up with the get this and get that crap people and try and help this dude out with his brake. AND: Yeah my rear hope is not that impressive, i need to get new pads though mine have a mad ridge in them. Cheers, Ian
  8. yeah like my set up is still pretty new i havent gone really riding so im not sure what its gonna be like for ups and stuff but it just feels like the powers not all there. Could be that im using a booster, or that the pads havent broken in yet because from what ive read the set up is perfect. I mean i use one turn of the TPA to get the feel i want but other then that the pad hit square with no toe in and at the same time pretty my down to the angstrom so with any luck theyll get better. Ohh and yes im using the power backings, i dont want to use CNCs because they void the warrenty and i know with my luck ill need to use that right lol.
  9. Yeah i got my echo brake all nice and set up and it feels pretty good. I just got a couple questions. The way i have the brake set up the pads ar about 2-3mm from the rim with just a couple turns of the tpa for feel, should i use the tpa at all or will it screw it up? Im using a control 4 bolt booster with a czar frame, should i keep using the booster or is it too much?? Also i have the coust green pads, ive used them for only like one little ride but i notice they arent very loud like the brakes i hear in the videos of gilles and aurelien, do they need to wear in a bit first or do i not have them set up right, they arent towed in and hit the rim right near the bottom edge (away from the tire). They work ok now, the hold isnt all there but i figure after they bed in theyll get a little louder or will i have quiet brakes forever, either option is cool i just wanna make sure im not Fing anything up. Cheers boys, Ian
  10. yeah im just dont sure why its happening in the first place, would a new for remedy the problem or is it the hub?? Ill try and play with the adjuster screw and the rotor alignment and see what happens, i might just go back to my juicy intil i get a new fork. F**K
  11. for mad strength if your running vees get a dx32, with disc or magura the Echo 07 (i think their called the TR rims now) are the best period. Pro II hubs are really really nice if you want a freehub, for fixed get a surly or echo with a monty or white industries freewheel.
  12. I decided that i didnt like my juicy and so "borrowed" the monty disc brake from my brothers 221ti for the front of my czar. I use an evolve fork and when i mount the hope it rubs against the spokes. This happened with my juicy too but if i mounted it far enough away on the tri align it went away. I have managed to make it stop rubbing by putting a washer between the hub and the dropout so the fork flexes in less but now the brake lever pulls almost all the way to the bar when it only went in about 2/3 of the way on the monty. I havent played with the lever adjuster screw on the brake yet but i have placed 2 small washers to space the brake in as much as i could without it hitting the spokes. Is there anything i can do to help with this problem or is the fork just really dumb (i mean i know it is but will getting a new fork help). Thanks, Ian PS: Im using an echo hub with silver double butted dt swiss champion spokes laced 3x to an echo rim.
  13. Ive had no problems with mine at all. It rides really nice... for a mod I have to replace my koxx cuz the steer tube shattered so i got the lite and its nice. Super stiff, tones of tire clearance and the disc tabs are super burly. Good buy son!
  14. Yeah i agree with the dude above me. Like there shouldnt be anything wrong with ur frame now, if u just want a new frame then yeah its your money but if u put that money into buying better parts or something then you would have a better bike over all i think. -OR- Dads love to do thing with their kids man. I told my dad i was buying a new frame and he bitched about it for almost 3 months. After that i told my dad that i was buying a DH bike and i need him to pay pal the money for me and help me build it and he was stoked. See if u can involve him some way or just show him why you need/want a new frame, just make sure that you dont tell him that the bike he bought u sucks cuz thats a sure fire way to shit him down!!
  15. i dunno what ur talking about ur brakes sucking i wish i had brakes like those. But not the point, i would if i were u get something tried and true like a czar or ozonys thats dual disc. Like i mean you could test ride the echo and let everyone know what its like or just get somin that everyone knows it sweet. Ozonys is the way forward though, if its good enough for TRA its good enough for you man. PS: that video was sick man, lol i loved it!!
  16. I hate my juicy i want a new brake. Does this look any good, when are they coming out, what are they gonna cost, any good up front?? Cheers, Ian
  17. No dude seriously steer clear. They have like zero back sweep. I think it would be far more comfortable to just run a straight tube then these bars. It feels almost as if they curve down.
  18. Yeah disc of front is the way to go for sure. I used to run a vee up front but having it squeak and stuff going down hills was a bummer. Also i find with a rim brake its harder when your going to front wheel to suck the rear wheel in. I found that i have to swap to rear with rim brakes because there is less modulation. Im sure thats mostly me being an idiot but seriously get a disc and dont look back. And i am right foot forward and am learning to sidehop to my left (disc side) so itll be interesting to see if i hit my rotor alot or not.
  19. Yeah basically work up from really really small until u get really good technique. Unfortunately other then that u just have to go for it. Just be confident that you wont really mess it up. And trust me its hard to taco rims on 20" bikes just dropping unless ur going pretty big. So just make sure ur technique is good and then just go for it. Try not to think about it alot and just do it its not so big afterwards.
  20. For the front yeah for sure, on the back like maybe but i would just get a bb7, their way cheaper and if you set them up right feel like pretty good. Or you could get a cheaper brake like a bb7 for the front and splurge on the rear and get a hope trial.
  21. Honestly dude there is no way that you learn slower then i do. Like ive been working on taps since may and i have managed to land 3 ever. One 35 one 36 and one 40". And this is riding 4 times a week for 2-3 hours so dont sweat it and just have fun and try to copy the pros. And watching the comp riders practice is way better then watching the tgs guys, gilles actually tries to land his moves right not just land them.
  22. Like it might make the pad a little harder but that would thaw out pretty quick like. The problem is that the material would shrink and might pop outta the backing, might not but i wouldnt risk it.
  23. yeah the mods here just stop this place from becoming a big Sh*t pile like OTN If you want to be a retard post there.
  24. ...so about a 30 minute drive?? You live in Europe homes, i can drive all the way across the entire continent, even through the tunnel to Britain in less time then it takes to get out of ontario lols. Canada ***
  25. Yeah man you tend to get in trouble if u dont read the rules, it only takes like 5 minutes and their pretty comprehensive. I just have a question for the moderators regarding the NMC. Say i post sayin that i have a bike and im selling it and give all the info but rather then getting people to PM me or w/e i just say add me on MSN or something like that thats still ... "illegal" right?
