  1. Building up a bike from scratch will probably cost more money than buying a full bike (Second Hand). So if i were you, sell your current bike. Add a bit of money and get a decent full bike off ebay, or on here (if you get authorised). What size bike are you looking for? 20"? 24"? or 26"??
  2. Sounds like somebody used glue instead of lube for the headset bearings!!! I would recomend taking the forks off and having a look. It cant cause much harm, just remember how to put it back together. They will probably require a good clean and then re-greasing. When you put the forks back on remember to tighten the top cap bolt fairly tight first before retightening the stem (This prevents any play in the headset bearings). Hope this helps. Seeing how removing the cranks is a 5 minute job they shouldn't be charging more than £5. However they are sneaky russians and need the cash in most cases so will ask for more. Seriously, do it yourself. Buying a crank extractor is probably cheaper than getting a shop to do it and you will get an extra tool out of it as well!!
  3. you need to buy a crank extractor. it locks into the threads on the cranks and drives the crank off the BB. They can be bought for about £6.00.
  4. If i was you i would'nt go for either of those. Mission cranks are budget and will not last forever. As for the DDG's....i was told they are awesome cranks, so i bought a new set last week. After a week they have already rounded and are now offically f**ked. So i would not recommend them. Also they rub on my frame. Go for middleburns like everyone else said.
  5. ok. where can i get good ISIS 5 bolt cranks?? tarty bikes only sells screw-on, which is confusing because they don't sell screw on chainrings...... and what size BB does my bike require to run a front chainring without the crank arms rubbing?? thanks
  6. Basically the other day my cranks rounded off (They are square taper). So firstly i replaced the cranks. Then they rounded, again. So i replaced the BB with a new-ish one, and bought brand new squre taper DDG Cranks, which are meant to be good. I then tightened the frick out of them, not overtight though. Firstly they where rubbing on my frame (A common problem on Onza Zoots). The force from the pedal kick makes them bend and t5hey rub..... This means my frame is getting scratched, any ideas?? they are 175mm. i had 165 previously. Any cures?? Second problem is REALLY annoying, cranks or BB have become loose (Rounded) again!!!!! How the hell can i stop them rounding off?? Also on Tarty bikes there is no cranks with 5 bolt fixing, however there is bashrings and chain rings (5 bolt), WTF!!! Where can i get good 5 bolt ISIS cranks?? i'm fedup with shitty square. Also can anyone tell me what size ISIS bb do i need for my Zoot?? and to prevent it rubbing?? Help Much appreciated. Thanks guys.
  7. Adobe Premiere...... Use the search. Other good ones are: Ulead Video Studio, Windows Movie Maker for ease of use. and for experts: Final Cut Pro.. (But don't even got here).
  8. yea actually its more like 5 foot 6? maybe. about 3 inches shorter than me. later in i ddroppped the wall further down at 6 foot. and i turned on the wall!! well impressed with that.....
  9. Seriously, that 'Peters' face is hilarious. Looks like he's going to cack his pants!! Cool pics, how long u guys been ridng? hiw high can u backwheel??
  10. There's nothing holding the bolt tight. So drill it with a small dril piece, and then if you shove a small screwdriver or something into the hole it should just unwind. I did this with the fly bolts in the front of my bike wheel. Oh and don't bother helicoiling it because there's no need. The threads are still good, right?? Hope this helps
  11. FFS!! Use the search there must be 100+ topics on 'Best Brake'!!!! grrrrrr
  12. flipping heck thats a nice koxx!! heres one of me doing a 6 foot drop on my onza zoot. officially my biggest drop!!
  13. Don't go for a jump bike. get a trials bike. Seriously for £400 you could have a really nice bit of kit. You could always stuff some forks on it if you wanted to do some jumps. The only way to learn trials is on a trials bike. I know from experience. Hope this helps. Also if you do go for a dirt jump bike, get something a little more versatile, a specialised or mongoose aren't really that great, go for a Marin or other decent brand.
  14. I had this with my Onza for a while. It's easy to fix and i doubt your bike is going to break!! The creeking is probably coming from the BB. Give the BB a dose of chain lube, any lube really (except your mum's). The lube the chain as well. I did this and after 10 minutes the creeking had stopped. If this does not work then i'd suggest tightening the cranks up as well. Hope this helps.
  15. NEVER BUY A SARACEN!!!! I've been given this advice since i knew anything about bikes. Go 24"!!! It's the best.
  16. Hey Scott, it's Tris. We met briefly in Hawkhurst the other month. Hows everything? Vid was pretty cool, the bails at the end where classics!! We should ride together sometime....i'm getting better gradually.
  17. I do! I just got back from a ride on my own actually. I'm the only 'Trials' rider i have ever seen... A few of my friends ride dirt jumps and street so sometimes i got along with them. Need to meet some of you trials guys.
  18. agreed. Remember 90% Rider 10% Bike. Well this is the case in Motocross and i assume the statistic si similar in Bike Trials (Maybe more like 80%-20%). Learn with what you have got. Unless what you need is vital. The things that HAVE to work on my bike so that i will not be worried and can practice 90% of stuff is Back brake, Front Brake, Drivetrain not messing up. then you are good to go. Don't go upgrading just for the sake of it. Wait till you improve, then upgrade. All the parts i break i nearly always bodge up, i only buy the new part when the bodge breaks. Just practice as much as poss. I would recomend fixing parts properly though, as bodges can be sketchy and always take ages to perfect. Recently i've spent like £100 on my bike just fixing bodges!! haaa- Had to fix: Cranks - Bodged on (rounded) TPA -Broken so i bodged it. Crossover - like 13cm long!! Bent wheel Mech hanger - Bodged Tensioner - bodged on old crapy mech.. bottom bracket was messed front disc adapter. finally i;ve bought all the right stuff!!!!
  19. I have always wanted to do 'cool tricks' and enjoy impressing people (subtly not cockily..). then i rode street for a bit on a terrible old road bike and finally got a 24" trials bike. buying a trials bike was an awesome decision. riding trials is awesome.
  20. hey dude. ive heard plazmatic crm's are good. so i'm getting some. also, anyone, do you need longer bolts or spacers or anything if you are upgrading and getting a booster??
  21. yea i race motocross in competition as well. its awesome, the adrenaline is crazy!!! i respect and admire some of the best urban mototrials riders (julien dupont i think). but i would'nt do it because i feel there is a lack of variety that you can find in bike trials. would'nt mind giving it a go though.....
  22. hey dude. i was in the same place as you are about 6 months ago. all i could do was backhop (hop on the spot and backwards with the rear brake locked). as soon as i got my onza i was able to pedal kick because of the rear brake. if your rear brake is strong and you can lock the rear wheel up with one finger then you will be able to pedal hop in no time. remember in order to release the brake whilst on the back wheel you must only use one finger on the rear brake. personally i think that it is impossible to pedal kick with 2 fingers. remember to lock the brake up when you land the pedal kick otherwise you will go off the back hope this helps.
