Yep, you can see it in the photos i beleive, its not a crack, its a small splinter on one of the tails quite common.

In the dry tar is fine with almost any pads, when it gets wet it will kill you to death. A grind works well in both wet and dry, with the right pads.

I would but the answer is always the same. PERSONAL PREFERANCE. Brake pads, bars, stems, frames all have benefits and what not. BUT ITS STILL ALL PERSONAL!
