Couldn't you just take the spring out, put the jockey wheel under the chain and cable tie the tensioner to your chainstay? Would give better chain wrap..

Yeah it should. Otherwise all forks would feel the same to use.... It can be fork flex, wheel flex and tire roll all making it feel like that...

It would have to be majorly flared for the coke can strip to fit in...

No no no. You can have brakes that hold amazingly, but not huge ammounts of bite. Koxx blues would probably be the least bitiest out of the ones you said Nick, but still have decentish hold..
