I prefer a light grind on the rear rim and smooth up front. For the record, I am also running vee brakes.

Hardtail? Full suspension? Price range? Used or new? They can be pretty hard to come by. Good luck!

Hey welcome aboard, Fellow yank from SC. I'll send you a PM of stateside suppliers, although I've had great dealings with Tartybikes, so I'll fire their link to you too. Guarantee their shipment will get to your door before anyone else's. Search all kinds of stuff on here. This is, by far, one of the best and friendliest resources to learn about trials. -Gary

Hi all, Not an injury per se, but trying to head off some future problems with crunchy sounding knee joints. No pains from them yet, but they sound horrible. Are there any non-prescription remedies I can begin taking or adding onto my diet with particular vitamins that may limit further damage and help maintain whatever linings in my joints to keep it from becoming a problem in the not-so-distant future? A friend of mine is using glucosamine chondroitin for a back injury and says that's what his doc recommends to keep things in proper order as far as joints rubbing together. I will do a bit of research to learn some more about it, but wanted to get some opinions from those who may be having some of the same issues or concerns. Thanks for any constructive input! Where's that blasted cane, anyway? -Old Man Tappets :edited for spelling:

Probably already know this, but remember to get a small drift (or punch) and make your starting dimples so your fancy new drill bits don't walk all over the place and make a nice job sloppy. Titanium holes, LOL

Always open to any advice I wrote that when I was pretty frustrated and was looking for something to blame it on. I'll keep at it. Might borrow a video camera so I can at least see how the stance is from a distance. That may reveal something too. Maybe not getting me arse end over the rear wheel enough or something like that. I will say it seems to roll/lurch up and get over things with much less effort and getting the front tire onto high stuff (for me) seems way easier. Balancing skills have increased immensely with the switch. Thanks for your time!

No problem, I'd still consider myself a beginner. I think the frustration is coming from the fact that I had it figured out pretty good on my mod and now it's throwing me for a loop trying to get back to that spot on the stock. Maybe I was looking for a reason rather than the fact that I need to keep at it. Watching more videos is probably a good recommendation as I haven't been doing much of that lately. I'd like to get a camera so I can at least film myself trying it a few times so I can adjust my form or stance more. Thanks for the suggestions

Can I get back in? My experiment didn't make any known difference. I think I applied to be added again.

Ah right, Raven 7.0, Trialtech risers and one small spacer. Double checked the angle and it's more like 110mm and 15 degrees.
-
So I'm having a helluva time with backwheeling or anything related to getting the front up proper. Some things seem so much easier on the stock, but backhops are kicking my ass for some reason. Been practicing for days and days. I'm pretty tenacious too. Can a stem's length and angle really make much of a difference on getting onto the back wheel? I had it figured out on my mod pretty well, but now seems as though I am starting from scratch and can't manage anything substantial. I've noticed a tendency to keep my weight over the bars more than the mod too. I'll keep at it, but wanted some input. It's a V!Z, 110mm x 8 degree if I recall. Need any more details? Thanks for any constructive input!

Sweet frame! I'd say silver components and I like the suggestion of white rims/rim tape. Of course, I'm biased. That's what I did on my Raven.

I temporarily left the clan. It's just an experiment of sorts, so I'll ask to be added again in a bit.

Sky dive. Would you rather shave David Hasselhoff's back or sniff your favorite movie/tv/pop star's farts for three hours?
-
Right on! Looks pretty sassy.

It took me a while to get used to mod bike geometry. Keep at it and check out places like this: http://www.trashzen.com/index.php Great site. Also search for other threads on here about the same things. You're not alone. start small and add on as you progress. You'll get it with some patience and tenacity.

Hehehe... http://tappets.mybrute.com/fight/63393691 That was lucky.

Cool, how'd the fade turn out?
-
Well, maybe 'faulty' isn't the right word.
-
That's not cheating... it's using the faulty system to your advantage.

Thanks for the add! Does this mean we can make crafts together and have cookouts and sing-a-longs and all kinds of giddy TFclan fun? I'll bring the duct tape and roofies
-
Nice job! Now I'll just sit back and wait to be allowed into your evil gang, er... clan.

Hey neato! I'm a desert batterer now. I guess it's based on victories cause Krisboats has way more pupils and is level nine? I dunno. http://tappets.mybrute.com/cellule

He's talking about the black to white fade like on the Zhi I posted. Doing something like that isn't very hard, really. Just have to spray lightly where the two colors meet. You can practice on different shaped things to get a feel for it. I would say that painting the back rim white to match would probably really make it look 10x better.
